**2015 MLB Season Thread: This is how the chapter ends (1 Viewer)

When people said there were too many graphics on the screen last week when ESPN rolled out the K Zone and 90% of people hated it, ESPN responds by getting rid of the score and pitch count box for most of the game.

They are f'ing terrible.
are they trying to foist some propertiary technology on baseball? Are they assuming RSN's will buy that stupid box?

Insane.

they used to do the extreme overhead camera which also sucked....I always think of Mussina's near perfect game on Sunday night and that stupid view would have been the only document of that game

Royals are awesome. Their offense is much better than last years. Too bad they lost Shields but I still think they are for real with that bullpen and offense. ventura has to stay healthy.

They are?
After 7 games last season, the Royals had zero home runs. This year they have 10.

They have out scored their opponents 52-18.
They had an eight game win streak last August in which they out scored their opponents 45-17. They also had a ten game win streak last June in which they out scored their opponents 69-30.This is just more noticeable because it is week one.

Apparently the thing about Lester not being able to throw to bases is true. Just airmailed one
he rainbowed the first one two feet off the bag where a good throw likely gets Cozart. then he skied the second one right over Rizzo's head. pretty atrocious. Cozart of course thrown out trying to get to 3rd, because he had no idea what he was doing on base in the first place.

Reds sticking with the run until they tag you strategy from last year.

I think it's about the same. Limited power and walks, not a good combo. This team is dependent on their bullpen.I don't think Morales is as bad as he was last year, but him vs. Butler (before considering financials) is a wash. In a vacuum I'd rather have the younger Butler, but $. Feel the same about Rios.

I don't see why Moose, Perez, and Cain breakouts happen either. Could? Sure, but you could say the same thing for just about anyone under thirty. Why is this year different? What's there to indicate it will happen? If I had to bet on one of their young guys to take the next step it'd be Hosmer, but lots of good reasons to doubt him. If you see something in the others I'm all eyes though.

I'm skeptical. I didn't like the Rios and Morales signings at all and one good week doesn't make them good. They need to be fortunate with injuries again this year because their bench is very thin.

On the other hand, the 2014 Royals were last in the AL in OPS+ so it wouldn't be impossible for them to improve and still be below average.

Brandon Mccarthy - WHIP of 1.00 through 6

Brandon Mccarthy - 9 K through 6

Brandon McCarthy - ERA of 7.50 through 6 :wall:

Need to change a rule. Adrian Gonzalez comes up, but lefty Furbush isn't ready, so with Puig on first, Smith throws over a few times. Then he is taken out without throwing a pitch.

Terrible

Both starts have been that way. 14+ K/9 and 0.75 BB/9 so far on the year, 6.75 ERA. I didn't watch last night, but I thought he looked good in the first start.

so is giancarlo stanton just not a thing anymore?
Can you imagine if he just never got it back? Completely lost his edge. Worst contract in sports history.

I think he'll be fine.

I would love it if the Marlins actually had to pay that entire contract.
Teams are printing money. No contract matters. /dparker
Not entirely accurate, but close enough. It would still be viscerally satisfying for Marlins ownership to have to eat a massive #### sandwich.

I would love to know what causes major league GMs to watch Fernando Rodney try to close a game and think that's a good idea.
