2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs: All hail the Blackhawks, mudbutt (2 Viewers)

Obviously, Yzerman early in his career was better offensively than Toews will probably ever be. Was always buried on those Canada teams behind Gretzky and Lemieux (and Messier), but was not that far off them in skill level.

IMO, what the Blackhawks are doing now as a team is comparable to what Detroit did under Bowman with Yzerman, and doing it in a salary cap era with a leader as young as Toews is amazing. Bowman-era Yzerman is a great comparison for Toews though.

Who will win the Stanley Cup? The stats say the Lightning
THE VERDICT

Anyway you slice it, it’s a close one, but tally it all up and you get a 4-3 final for the Lightning. The two teams are pretty much equals at every level that it’s hard to accurately justify an edge for either team as their opponent is usually just as good. Really, the real winner is everyone who gets to watch what should be a fantastic series. So sit back and enjoy what will likely be a seven game thrill ride between two of the league’s best.

What If Sports game simulator simulated the Blackhawks and Lightning series 1,001 times and their simulation engine projects Tampa Bay to win in six games with average goals per game 2.32-1.95 in favor of the Lightning.

If that happens I'll be very surprised. Lightning are a good young team but I have a distinct feeling what we're seeing is a coronation for the other side.

The simulator is using stats from the regular season and I'd argue that the Hawks are playing at a much higher level now than they were then. I know all the Lightning are too but there's a world of difference for the Hawks.

Yea it's pretty dumb. But it's also pretty much the first time I've noticed somebody/thing pick the Bolts

I'll be impressed if they can win another series by beating four defenseman into the ground. One of the reasons I like Tampa to win it.

Thank you, Blackhawks. Signed: NBC.

The Blackhawks not only delivered huge ratings Saturday night, they also bring the promise of even bigger numbers for NBC for the Stanley Cup Final.

The Blackhawks victory in Game 7 posted a 3.27 overnight rating of major markets on NBC, the highest ever for a non-Stanley Cup Final game on the network; 1 national ratings point is worth the equivalent of more than 1 million homes. Complete national ratings will be available later, although it isnt expected to fluctuate much from the overnight rating.

Once again, the Chicago market was huge for NBC, with a 26.6 rating on WMAQ-Ch. 5; 1 local ratings point is worth nearly 35,000 homes. It was the largest ever for Chicago for a non-Stanley Cup Final game and the third highest overall in the market.

By comparison, the game registered only a 3.9 rating in Los Angeles. That sigh of relief comes from NBC avoiding a Tampa Bay-Anaheim Final.

NBC didnt hit the jackpot with a Chicago-New York Rangers Final, but it still is more than thrilled to have the Blackhawks playing into June. The network knows the robust Chicago market will drive its overall ratings for the Final.

Why do people care about this ####?
Who the #### knows. The networks and advertisers obviously do but no idea why any fan would give 2 ####s about it.
Curiosity about the world around you and how things work down? And every time some schmuck whines about "why do we have to see the Red Sox-Yankees again?" or "why are there three days off between games instead of 2????!!!", these are the kinds of reasons why things happen.

Why don’t more Americans watch the Stanley Cup Final?
Based on the numbers, Paulsen estimates that “there is a ceiling for NHL ratings in the U.S. — probably a 6.0 rating and 9 or 10 million viewer” and that it would take a Game 7 between two major markets to hit that number.

Humbling as this is, that highest viewership total for the NHL would equal the lowest rated NBA Final game in 23 years, Game 2 between the Nets and Spurs in 2003.

Love it. That's some serious action.

I just bet $300 to win $855 on DK winning CS. Thx for the idea! In case you're wondering, that's 57/20.

Hawks are a hot mess right now, Tampa is playing excellent hockey right now and get to showcase their 30+% PP. :X
