***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

GB someone killing these stupid Knights.

Congrats Caps fans. Red has been rocked.

Kuzy is a beast. Happy for Ovechkin and Trotz too.

If you were thinking of going to work in DC tomorrow,  lots of ####### luck. Look at that sea of humanity.

They might as well close down the government

When Ovi was a rookie, I had an argument with a friend of mine about whether he was one of the top 10 players in the game. I've taken every chance to needle him ever since, and he's needled me back about all of the "chokes" and everything. So I will always be an Ovi fan.

Plus, it's awesome to see great players finally get a chance to lift the Cup.

I’m out for right now. Just want to wish well to all the great posters on this thread, especially to my long suffering Caps crew. Special mention to the Sheriff, who I guess is turning over in his grave.

I said it before and will say it again.Money well spent on Lars Eller.I woke the entire neighborhood when that goal was scored.

I also have to admit I have never been so glad to be so wrong about a team in my entire life. The first two thirds of the season they were complete garbage in their own end and to see them come together as a team and dominate after they looked to be down and out was nothing short of amazing.

Congrats to all the regular Caps fans that post here as well.It was a long wait but I think you would admit after watching this it was well worth it and then some. Also so happy for the city to finally get another title.I have never seen this city be so excited about hockey EVER.

I still can't believe it

Stanley Cup Champs!!!!

Really classy to see George McPhee come down to the ice during the celebration to congratulation Capital players.  Has to be the first GM in Stanley Cup history to be mostly responsible for building both teams.

Burakovsky with the greatest 2nd assist in franchise history.  robbed of Conn Smythe imo

I think Beagle digging the puck out of the corner, and giving the black guy (DSP) an easy goal was the highlight of the series.

But for the entire totality of the Cup run, the post in game 3 in OT in Lumbus won the cup. Lumbus was poised to take s 3-0 lead, then the Caps won. Then they crushed the Pens, sneaked by the Bolts, and didn’t get Nashville in the finals.

Grear run.  So happy for Ovie Abe and Trots, both of who Caps fans wanted traded/fired.

Oh they are showing Amanda Wilson (huge Capitals fan fighting cancer)  reaction to winning the Cup now now and I can't take it  .

season doesn’t actually end unless sheriff posts choking dogs so I assume there are still more games this weekend

Congrats to @tom22406 @The_Man @dgreen @Fat Nick @Brunell4MVP @Fear The Turtle @Thomas The Skank Engine and anyone else I missed. I love seeing fans/players/teams get to celebrate the Cup for the first time, and like I mentioned earlier in this thread ... most of you guys kept coming back year after year and taking all of the abuse we could dish out. Enjoy it!
Thanks @Dickie Dunn!

I'm still on a high from last night.  My wife fell asleep (between my yelling) and woke up to me literally jumping up and down when Backstrom was about to shoot at the empty net.  I basically yelled "YES!" after the last 0.6 seconds passed, and then I was just quiet.  I thought I'd yell or something, but I was just quiet.  It was like...relief, jubilation, excitement, and disbelief all at once.

I shed a few tears last night.  Right when they won, more when they told Ovie to come get the cup, and even more when I saw the team photo and after-game interviews.  I've been a Caps fan for longer than probably any other team in any other sport.  It's been 26 years since a sports team I've rooted for has won it all ('92 Redskins).  My wife didn't get why I was so excited.  She's from Pittsburgh.  I told her that not every city has had success in multiple sports in recent years.  That really sank in last night when we finally won for the first time in my adult life.

For all of you who's teams have won championships recently, savor the feeling.  It's nice to know what it's like.  For all of you who's teams haven't won and have given you nothing but heartbreak - stay true to your team.  It's worth it in the end.

Two questions for some of you guys -

1) If one wanted to get a team-signed jersey and didn't have the time and was geographically too far away to get to DC, what would be the best way to go about getting one?  Price is largely no object.  Are there memorabilia vendors or seekers who could help me out?  (and yes, I know price will be at an all-time high right now.  It doesn't have to be TODAY, but I'm also not worried about the cost)

2) Anybody know any sources for high-quality photos of the game(s) - Ovie with the cup, Holtby's save, etc - that I could have printed in high quality and framed?

Not exactly what you asked in #2 but you can order print versions of today's Washington Post here.  Those always look good framed.

The bolts have a charity auction for every home game where there is often a team signed jersey available to bid on. Do the Caps do something similar?

When they dropped the puck with .6 left I was still watching the game like something could happen and when the horn sounded so quickly after the drop I was surprised.  Objectively crazy that I was still on the edge of my seat, but it definitely didn't cross my mind they had the game actually won at that point.

I know they do - I've seen pictures.  My challenge is I'm in NJ and getting down to DC can be tough with kids, work, etc.

I just found a team signed jersey on a sports memorabilia site.  I found a few, but only one that had ALL the signatures.  I just ordered it.  $1,500...I'm less worried about the price than the risk that they don't update their inventory well and somebody already bought it but the site didn't update.  We'll see I guess.
