With the Babcock Sweepstakes coming down to Buffalo and Detroit, I'm glad the Oilers stayed out of it and chose McLellan.

The previous regime would have let McLellan know they were interested and then flirted around with Babcock. Babcock would have turned them down and when they went back to McLellan, he would have taken the job in Toronto or somewhere else and they would have been left with Peter DeBoer or someone else.
