2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs: All hail the Blackhawks, mudbutt (1 Viewer)

Taves second goal reminded me of the goal Federov scored against the Ducks at the end of a playoff game to send it to OT also. Almost the same angle on the other side off the ice. Then Carney fed Rucchin for the sweep.

I'm glad to get a W when Anderon played by far his worst game.

I know this has been said before but this Ducks/Hawks series really has had just about anything you could ever want.

It just has to go 7 now with a 4OT finisher :thumbup:

Russo had an article the other day about this backstory and apparently the Wild did want to offer him a deal in 2010 but he got hurt in the Traverse City tournament and they decided to wait. he went back to junior and had a huge year, lots of teams offered him a deal and he went with Tampa because he thought it was the clearer path to the NHL. ugh.

Tonight is a big night. Would be amazing to see them clinch it at home.

Just echoing all the above ...great series here.

In one sense, nothing's changed: Hawks still need two wins. Like with their comeback last night - one by one.

 
Just rewatched the video of the OT goal. Engblom said Chicago was trying to change, but Bickell is the only one who veered to the bench on the play ... which was lazy, particularly since he should have known he turned it over.

But the whole key is that the Ducks already were able to change coming up the ice with their bench on that end. Kesler and Beleskey were the last two guys over the boards, and they were able to get behind the Chicago defense.

:confused: Oduya was trying to change which is the whole reason they end up on a 2 on 1 as he gets trapped up ice (and picked a bit unintentionally as he tries to get back into the play). total boner play by Bickell.

yeah, I was confused by that post as well.

2. Call FEMA. I believe Bryan Bickell qualifies as a disaster this postseason.

He has yet to score a goal in 15 playoff games. He has managed five measly assists. And he just made the last, killer mistake to ensure a loss in Game 5 because he couldn’t dump the puck past the Ducks' defense.That play is as simple as it gets in hockey, other than double-shifting Patrick Kane when you’re trailing.

The point is to get the puck deep to ensure a clean line change, especially during a period in which your bench is farthest from your defensive zone, as was the case in Monday night’s overtime period.

Bickell had one job on that play. He blew it. His team is on the brink of elimination.

Johnny Oduya and Brent Seabrook were going for a change as Bickell approached the Ducks zone, but instead of just flipping the puck into the opposite corner, he slid it at Francois Beauchemin’s stick just inside the Ducks’ blue line.


The puck caromed up to Jakob Silfverberg, who turned the play up ice, catching the Hawks' defensemen attempting to change the way the Hawks usually catch other teams.

Silfverberg hit Ryan Kesler at the Hawks' line as Oduya vainly tried to get back, and after Corey Crawford stopped Kesler’s blast, the puck rocketed directly to an open Matt Beleskey facing an open net a couple strides ahead of Kane, and that was that.

It used to be that the playoffs were worth Bickell’s frustrating and underwhelming regular seasons.

Not anymore. Not at that price.

Bickell is a player the Hawks certainly would think of moving when the salary-cap reaper calls this offseason, but who’d want his $4 million per when he scores just 14 goals in the regular season and gets nothing in the playoffs?

And when he makes that play at the Ducks' blue line at a critical moment, you can imagine every other general manager thinking, “Nah, I’m good, thanks.’’

If im being honest, I don't have a particularly good feeling about tonight. That last game was just so lifeless that I can't believe they can just turn it on and off like a lightswitch.

I hope I'm wrong. TB has been great, even in losses. I knew that the Rangers would beat the Caps in game 7 (sorry cap fans), I am no where near that feeling tonight.
