2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs: All hail the Blackhawks, mudbutt (1 Viewer)

If im being honest, I don't have a particularly good feeling about tonight. That last game was just so lifeless that I can't believe they can just turn it on and off like a lightswitch.

I hope I'm wrong. TB has been great, even in losses. I knew that the Rangers would beat the Caps in game 7 (sorry cap fans), I am no where near that feeling tonight.
Agree.
This is some double reverse-y bush league psych out stuff, right?

But were you confident that they'd win Game 6 against the Caps?

I trust this team to put in a great effort tonight and get it to 7.

Just rewatched the video of the OT goal. Engblom said Chicago was trying to change, but Bickell is the only one who veered to the bench on the play ... which was lazy, particularly since he should have known he turned it over.

But the whole key is that the Ducks already were able to change coming up the ice with their bench on that end. Kesler and Beleskey were the last two guys over the boards, and they were able to get behind the Chicago defense.
 Oduya was trying to change which is the whole reason they end up on a 2 on 1 as he gets trapped up ice (and picked a bit unintentionally as he tries to get back into the play). total boner play by Bickell.
yeah, I was confused by that post as well.

2. Call FEMA. I believe Bryan Bickell qualifies as a disaster this postseason.

He has yet to score a goal in 15 playoff games. He has managed five measly assists. And he just made the last, killer mistake to ensure a loss in Game 5 because he couldn’t dump the puck past the Ducks' defense. That play is as simple as it gets in hockey, other than double-shifting Patrick Kane when you’re trailing.

The point is to get the puck deep to ensure a clean line change, especially during a period in which your bench is farthest from your defensive zone, as was the case in Monday night’s overtime period.

Bickell had one job on that play. He blew it. His team is on the brink of elimination.

Johnny Oduya and Brent Seabrook were going for a change as Bickell approached the Ducks zone, but instead of just flipping the puck into the opposite corner, he slid it at Francois Beauchemin’s stick just inside the Ducks’ blue line.

The puck caromed up to Jakob Silfverberg, who turned the play up ice, catching the Hawks' defensemen attempting to change the way the Hawks usually catch other teams.

Silfverberg hit Ryan Kesler at the Hawks' line as Oduya vainly tried to get back, and after Corey Crawford stopped Kesler’s blast, the puck rocketed directly to an open Matt Beleskey facing an open net a couple strides ahead of Kane, and that was that.

It used to be that the playoffs were worth Bickell’s frustrating and underwhelming regular seasons.

Not anymore. Not at that price.

Bickell is a player the Hawks certainly would think of moving when the salary-cap reaper calls this offseason, but who’d want his $4 million per when he scores just 14 goals in the regular season and gets nothing in the playoffs?

And when he makes that play at the Ducks' blue line at a critical moment, you can imagine every other general manager thinking, “Nah, I’m good, thanks.’’

If you watch it from the end camera, Seabrook starts to drift a bit like he's going toward the bench, but he barely makes it out of his D zone. He changes direction pretty quickly once he sees the TO and Kesler/Beleskey coming off the bench, and he's the only one back on the 2-on-1.

You're right, I did miss Oduya getting picked off ... you can't see that from the TV camera view, but you can see it from the end shot. But the Ducks still were fortunate that they were a bit late making their change, which allowed Kesler and Beleskey to be in the perfect position in transition.

Still an awful, awful play by Bickell.

You guys, Lundqvist is pretty good in elimination games.

How many in a row?

The 3 against Washington.

Kreider should have been content with planting Stamkos on his ### on the first hit. Another dumb penalty by him.

It's really sad. Tampa is relatively patient on the PK and then they completely attack when MSL has the puck.

And in the interest of impartiality, that was a weak call on Kucherov.

I know this is a complete overreaction but it feels like the ning get more short handed chances than the Rangers get pp chances. Ugh.

I don't know how the Bolts keep playing Morrow. I get that he's a locker room leader but all he does is take penalties or stand around while his unchecked man scores.

I actually thought that was a good defensive play. Solid stick check.

All the years he was in TB. MSL scored a ton of PP goals, but he played down low re-directing shots.

I have no idea why he's playing the point for NY.

that is where they play old guys who do nothing but lose the puck on the PPSee Brad Richards 2013-2014

I was thinking the same thing, But palying 11-7 instead of 12-6 Do you want Jonathan Druin instead?

I dunno. Drouin sucks defensively and they don't trust him so it's hard to say. I guess morrow does some dirty work that Drouin can't do (ie give the opponent numerous opportunities).
