2016 Oakland Raiders thread (2 Viewers)

Looks bad.  Mechanism suggests spiral fracture of the fibula.  Spiral fractures are nasty, they happen when the bone is twisted along its long axis as opposed to bent along the short axis. I've had that injury and the fibula can (mine wasn't too bad, doc said I was lucky and showed me ) split vertically up the bone from the ankle to the knee.  Pray it's not that serious, both for the young man himself and then for Raider Nation.

Love the enthusiasm but mclovin is no Carr. I can't imagine what Carr is feeling. He has to be crushed.

I want to throw things.
I didn't say he was. I said he's an above average backup.

No mistake - this sucks. Bad.

But I do like McLovin more than a lot of QBs.

Crushing blow, but they are in the playoffs, and they have a good team - capable of beating anyone even with McLovin.

We need Denver to win tomorrow night BIG TIME. guarantee us a first round bye. I don't care if we don't get the first overall seed. Just want that bye to fool myself into thinking that Carr might be back for the playoffs.

Signed,

Delusional

Ugh...I just got back from work and got good/bad news. The good the Raider won, the bad Carr broke his fibula. Now we have to rally around McGloin and hope he can work his Scranton Scrapper magic all the way to the Super Bowl.   :kicksrock:

This isn't the team we saw in week 1.  Our D is coming along and the Oline is dominant.  We're going to need people to step up, our QB isn't going to rescue us any more, but we are by no means done.  Cooper needs to start asserting himself, we gotta cut out the drops, and we gotta get consistent pressure on the QB.  Health on defense is huge, especially in the secondary.  Our subs will cost us games.  Carrie is already a liability at times and I shudder to see what NEP does to exploit him if we meet up.  Our defensive coaching will need step up yet another notch, but I'm already amazed at how far they've come already so I'm done doubting they can keep it up.

I believe.

What is the winter wind?

Obviously a huge injury, but trying to keep a positive attitude.  The O line can be dominant and the run game has looked great as of late.  Defense has been playing better and not must still improve.  Seemed like more blitzing late today which I like.

Cooper impressed on his 2 big catches. I hope they go to hime more, sounding like a broken record, when he gets single coverage. The only other target i can recall is when he and Carr had a communication mix up

D Washington impressed me too. That 1st TD run i had to watch a few times to see what he did to make that penetrating DLman miss and then the way he finished off.

Just from watching this game he seem to have better body control that Richard. Richard had that run with 1 man to beat, when he crushed that safety, tried to make a move but did nothing to avoid the hit

But its a division game next week so warm up Murray coz he should own Den again

He's actually servicable. Now they have an OL & WRs which he never had when he was QBing before.
I have always felt he didn't get a chance with actual talent. I think he will do well, obviously not as good as Carr but like someone else said, I would take him over many if not most backups.

I don't think we should delude ourselves. McGloin is a back up for a reason. He will flash some ability but he will also throw a key INT at some point. The rest of the team has to raise it's play because McGloin's level of play will be nowhere near Carr's.

That's why we're all big Broncos fans tomorrow night.  One extra week of rest to give time to the doctors to install a bionic fibula in Carr's leg.

Merry Christmas to all my raider brethren.
I'm still not over Carr. It is Christmas Day and it is a joyful day so I need to get out of my funk. I wish all you Raider fans a very Merry Christmas.  It has been a great year for us. That should be our focus no matter how the playoffs turn out.

This is a gut punch, no doubt.

Now I am just hoping for a Cinderella postseason.  The team already exceeded our/media expectations for the year, the fact that we were having thoughts about home field advantage bears that out.  Anything less than AFC title game was a disappointment before that injury.  Now, there's almost no pressure on me as a fan, I have no expectations for wins.

Jeff Hostetler-Earl Morrall-Tom Brady.  All backups that led teams to Super Bowls eventually.  If we can win next week, or Denver can win today, we get a few weeks of practice with McLovin before the divisional round of playoffs.

Hell, I'm still rooting  for MIA next week, and thinking about the #1 seed.

Game manager QB and strong running game, average defense is good enough for #1 seed in NFC, no reason we can't play with anyone other than NE in the playoffs.

As a longtime Broncos fan, I obviously love rooting against the Raiders, but you never root for injury, and this just sucks for Carr, who is a great young QB. As a fan of the sport, who wants to see the best ball possible in the playoffs, it's a bummer. Hopefully, Carr can get well and return next year as good as ever.  :hifive:

Hometown kid who prior to Bill O Brien heading to PSU had no prayer in the world of being on an NFL roster.

And now he's going to be starting in a playoff game.

Northeast PA is going to be Raider country for a few weeks

Here's to McGloin leading us to a Superbowl win.

And to McG then signing a HUGE NFC contract this offseason, securing his family's future and netting us a 3rd round comp pick.

And to Derek coming back 100% next season to defend the belt.

Keep those heads up, Raider Nation. Think about where we've come from and where we are now. Be merry, friends.

:football:

I'm just sick to my stomach fellas. I feel bad for Derek. The kid has worked his tail off to get this organization back on track. This is a very painful learning experience : When you're up 20+ points , in the 4th quarter and you don't like what you see, just throw the ball away.
