lol, what a goofy article.  implying the organization is ignoring him based on one comment Kaprizov gave saying they didn't show interest.  they actually had to give his draft jersey to a team official at world juniors to pass along to them because they were barred from meeting him.  he has no North American agent and there are no lines of communication available to reach him in Russia.  he's one of the countries best prospects/rising stars so there is probably lots of protection there.  Wild have made several public statements stating he has a guaranteed roster spot day 1 if he comes over, no Iowa.  his KHL contract has been reported and refuted several times, including by the same guy.  hard to figure out anything that's going on over there.  but to imply that they didn't even try to get their best prospect over is laughable.  Russo spent a half hour on the radio going over this yesterday.

Russians are always a gamble, those are the breaks.

that article does mention some of that stuff. I just didn't know any of the background here. sucks to wait 3 years for him.

sucks hard.  At least he'd only be 24 and very polished at that point, assuming he ever wants to come over.

on the plus side, Cullen just reported as not retiring and might be coming back to Wild.  they really need a 4th line center.

Oilers sign Draisaitl to 8 year/ $68 million deal. Love the term, but the price tag. :oldunsure:

I was hoping to sign him for under $8 mill a season. $21 mill per season for their top two "centers".But, Draisaitl still might end up on the wing.

Point taken on Wheeler, but they got back Rich Peverley, who was a pretty key part of the SC championship run.

Versteeg is an odd one as well ... Brandon Bochenski did nothing in the NHL. But Versteeg also has played on seven different teams by age 30. He also never actually played for the Bruins.

A lot of angst around Boston now regarding Pastrnak after the Draisaitl deal. Sounds like the B's have offered six years at $6M per. I can't see that getting it done.

At that price, he pretty much has to be centering (or at least playing on / driving production on) his own line. If he just plays on McDavid's wing, then Edmonton got served. McDavid is good enough that any ham-n-egger making a couple of mil should score 60 points in that spot.

Went to see the B's training camp yesterday in the new Warrior center. It was awesome! Amazing how fast they pass and skate close-up. Saw most of the team including Bergeron, Chara, Marchand and McAvoy. My son even got Cam Neely to sign a hockey puck.

Watched the Rangers-Islanders game last night.  I sure hope that the league is just trying to send a message in pre-season on slashes to the hands and it doesn't carry over to regular season.  If it does, it is going to be a longggg season.

new super power play NHL is kind of dumb.  anything to please the all I can watch is offense crowd I guess.  just keep watering it down.

What's this mean. I haven't followed any rule changes.

They still keep my offsides rule?
they didn't really change anything, more like they saw how everyone loved nitpicking offsides down to a ####s hair over the line and applied it to the rest of the rule book.  at least it will get irish eyes all worked up 3x as much, so there are some benefits.  20 pp opportunities a night will be great to watch, if you like whistles.

Oh great.

If they keep it up there will be a helluva lot more 5 on 3 PPs too. Great way to keep the game moving

Being lazy, what is this face off zone infraction they keep calling?? Is it the guys moving before puck drop and is it a penalty now or just slowing #### down?

Brad Marchand loves it

This essentially means the opposing centers taking the face-off can’t be standing or have their sticks on the painted hash marks and instead must stand perfectly still while waiting for the puck to drop. Two consecutive violations of Section 10 of the rulebook will result in a two-minute delay of game: face-off violation penalty. It was called on numerous occasions for the first eight NHL preseason games played on Monday night.

Needless to say, Marchand was watching some games on Monday night while not playing in the first two preseason games for the Bruins and he called the stricter interpretation of the rulebook “an absolute joke.”

“The slashing [penalties] is one thing, but this face-off rule is an absolute joke. That’s how you ruin the game of hockey by putting that in there. They’re going to have to do something about that because we can’t play all year like that,” said Marchand. “Basically you have to be a statue. You can’t move. It takes away from the center iceman. I think there was even a play [in the game I was watching] last night where a penalty was called on a 4-on-4 before play on the first penalty had even started because of a draw.

“That’s just a joke. I don’t know how you expect guys to step back, guys are excited to get in there and help out there centerman. I know they’re trying to add a little more offense to the game [with power plays] and make it more exciting, but you don’t want to ruin the game. It’s frustrating for everyone. There are ways to make the game better, but this isn’t one of them. We might as well start throwing D-men in there to take draws.”

wonder how much the linesmakers will adjust the game totals early on. after the 04/05 lockout I remember there being a ton of power plays when they cracked down on clutching and grabbing to start the season.

I don't know how good the Golden Knights are going to be, but their Twitter account has been a great follow so far in the preseason.

I'm guessing you see a lot more 5.5

I still question if they'll actually call faceoff violation penalties when the season starts.  it's such a bad concept and incredibly hard to determine.  of course reason doesn't always prevail with this leeg.

power plays are definitely going up though with the hypersensitive slash calls.

Jake Guentzel with a goal and 4 assists last night against Detroit. Pretty excited about seeing what he can do over a full season -- if he plays primarily on Sid's wing and gets some PP time, he might be close to a PPG player IMO.

Don't get too excited, he was playing against the Wings afterall

Rumors out there that the Pens are trying to trade for Riley Sheahan to fill the void at 3C -- maybe offering Derrick Puliot and a pick. What happened to Sheahan last year? Just general suckage? He was decent prior and seems like he'd be a good fit: big dude, decent on FOs, can kill penalties, chips in a bit on offense.

Really strange year for Sheahan last year.  I don't know that there was anything to point to in particular.  He had horrendous puck luck, and then I think he let it get in his head.  He is talented, a decent 3rd/4th line center.  Detroit has way too many of those.

I don't understand the NHL blackout policy of out of market preseason games. I'm 4 hours from either Tampa or Sunrise and I get MSG on Directv Sports Pack.

I get the Directv Center Ice package but preseason games are blacked out. So stupid.
