2018 NBA Draft Thread: loud applause just heard coming out of Milwaukee police department (1 Viewer)

You just don’t play 2 guys 48 minutes a game. You really think they are going to let a young talented 22 YO coming off his best season go for nothing? Come on.
If the alternative is maxing him, he plays the same position as your most recent prized lottery picks, and you’d be bumping up against the luxury tax for an awful team if you matched a max offer sheet?  It’s at least a conversation they should be having.

it all depends on what other offers he gets.  if someone offers him the Otto Porter, the Magic should be prepared to walk.  They are in a tough spot for sure, but paying well into the 20s for him is unlikely to yield good value.

I do wish they had gotten a wing, though.  They can use more ball handlers and creators, but wing depth is still a bit problematic.  Kind of suggests that they will be active for Lebron/Kawhi/George (if we didn't already know)

They’ll get off that tax next year or whenever it is Biyombo and Fournier come off. And they could trade Vuc and his 10M pretty quick. They won’t be paying the tax.

They can’t attract free agents there with how bad they’ve been so they gotta spend to keep whom they have, especially when that player has shown potential.

Teams aren’t going to be lining up to give Gordon 28M either.

You can’t just operate in a vacuum though. Good value is only what you can spend it on. Who else is taking their 25M? Chances are it would be an overpay on somebody significantly worse and older. I’d be way more willing to bet on a 22 year old’s upside, with the potential he has shown.

I 100% believe this.
Yeah, I was "Anything BUT...." on both Maaaacus Smaaaat and Jaylen Brown and though i had nothing against Rozier in the year in-between, i wanted Bobby Portis @ 1.16 and Scary Terry would have been there and fine on their 2nd 1st rounder (tho it would have been considered a reach even there) where they took the immortal RJHunter.

Jacob Evans appears to be exactly the type of guy the Warriors said they would target: high floor (but low ceiling), ready to contribute and can hopefully play some playoff minutes. vs. the Rockets. He also averaged almost a block a game which is rather eye-opening for a wing. At least he won't be embarrased on defense which was probably his biggest selling point.

I am disappointed but not surprised that they couldn't buy a second rounder.
Yah having hit on Green, McCaw, and Bell.....no one is doing favors the the Dubs. Maybe if Collars was still in PHI, but doubt Brett Brown would do the same.

he would be too busy tweeting that the reason they have so many second round picks is because of him, not Sam.  Maybe also some tweets with Michael Porter Jr's medical file.

Draymond Green was the second person to talk to him after he was drafted.  Green was also present at some of their previous workouts and did things similar with Bell (Facetime, taking him to lunch).  I think that's a huge confidence booster for a young defensive rookie having Green reach out early.

Does he post his thoughts or analysis elsewhere? Those are just team names and grades.
He posted a 70 player big board on www.deanondraft.com  You can tell from there and his Twitter activity over the past week who he really loves.  "Home" also has some quick thoughts.  "Mock Draft" is outdated, but always fun to see where people whiff.

Who knows how accurate, but if true weird how Lebron didn't even talk or meet with Walton before joining the Lakers. Little crappy the team puts him in that situation too, hard when Walton worked with the youth so much last year. wonder if they are thinking of using Walton as a scapegoat if things go bad

I'm just thankful I don't live inside your head.

seriously, this free agency period has not been healty. Thought i could escape after LeBron chose but the mother f'ers keep sucking me back in. i've seen enough hot takes that i think they have covered every scenario
