2018 NCAA Tournament/Shtick Thread: TBS cameraman focused on crying kid who just happens to be up too late (1 Viewer)

Good run for the Noles. Bound to end this way.

This was an extremely crappy night of basketball. I cannot believe there are people who think this gameplay is better than the nba. The stakes and the stories are better but this #### is awful.
Are there people that think the gameplay is better or do they just enjoy watching the college game more? I mean the NFL is actually better gameplay than CFB too.

I dunno. There were a few people in here (Dr. D) this last week saying how it’s better.

I enjoy CFB more than the nfl too, but the gameplay is #### compared to the Nfl. So I can see that argument.

I would rather watch two quality college offenses over whatever QBs the Browns, Jets, Bills, Cardinals, Broncos, and many others throw out there on Sundays.

Also while both pro sports are better, CFB, at least in the upper levels of the sport is way better than CBB, at least imo. These games are just straight rockfights that happen to have to exciting final few minutes.

I love college basketball more than anything but nobody could argue the gameplay is better.  There were times I would argue that, speciifically late 90s, but definitely not now.

I dunno man, tomorrow's games should be pretty high level stuff.

The level of play the last 5 to 10 years has definitely gone down in NCAA.

I won't watch the NBA though. It seems to be geared to promoting a handful of stars and their teams du jour. No doubt the better players are making college a speedbump at best. It's not my cup of tea though.

The NBA is the best it's ever been, imo.

@MarchMadnessTV: Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton on the decision not to foul with 11 seconds remaining.

I don’t mean to imply all games/teams are bad; there are just too many of them. I do think all the upsets has a ton to do with it. They’re exciting, but they also deprive us of Kansas/Duke caliber games.

Edit: this was meant for frosty. Don’t care to re-do the post.

:lmao:  Leonard Hamilton interview as he tries to do the math in his head when he gets asked about not fouling when down 4 with 11 seconds left.

This was a bad night. Plenty of bad nights in the NBA too. Like tonight.

Wait, are we talking in terms of quality of the product here or quality of the players?  Because there are just so many high level college football players that are downright awful.  Jesus every year there are one or two QBs in the CFB playoff that would be backups on a strong intramural team.

Sorry, but you’re wrong. The league now is light years better than ever. You openly say you don’t watch, so you obviously don’t know.

If you think a guy like McHale could get in there and hang with AD, Cousins, and Embiid I just don’t know what to tell you. Not to mention the warriors and rockets and freaking Lebron.

You’re not wrong. Quality of product often outweighs the players.

Love 80's - 90's NBA but today's teams would murder them. Kevin McHale's highlight tape is like 20 minutes of him doing step through layups off ball fakes

NBA is awesome and the talent level and play now is incredible.

But I think we are forgetting that MICHIGAN IS GOING TO THE ####### FINAL FOUR BABY!!

Not wrong, sorry you missed the Golden age of hoops. Just because Russell Westbrook is amazing, doesn’t mean this is the bests era. Any hardcore hoops fan agrees the 80s was significantly better.

Keep your 2018, :bye:

There are literally no hoops fans saying that. :lmao:  You can’t just say something and will it to be true.

There’s nothing wrong with incorrectly remembering the quality of play from your childhood when your team was good. But saying it’s better than now is just being willfully ignorant. It’s not even close.

No one but Frosty agrees with you, NBA is awful.

glllllllllllllll

There's no question today's players are bigger and more athletic but the example of McHale is driven by style of play as much as its relative quality.

McHale's low post game has been deemphasized in the modern game.  He'd have to play beyond the arc to excel today.  McHale had a decent mid-range game so I'm pretty sure he could extend his shot.  He'd still have good length and rebounding abilities.  There are 80s NBA players who would top out at the college level today but McHale isn't one of them.

This conversation makes me wish science would get off of it's ### and give us the ability to see what players would be like with modern nutrition, PEDs, strength training, coaching, analytics, cocaine rehab facilities and whatever. Obviously guys like McHale might still not translate to today, but guys like Bird and Magic would be monsters today (special note: I've never seen anything more than ESPN Classic games or highlights but still).

McHale would get some shots off but he would get abused in the post.
