2020 (now 2021) Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Closing ceremonies 8/8 | USA finishes with most gold, silver, bronze AND overall medals (2 Viewers)

Gable Steveson has the chance to win gold in the Men's Freestyle Wrestling without giving up a point throughout the competition. He is legitimately debating between returning for his senior year of college at University of Minnesota or to turn pro.

For WWE.

Actually true.
I missed it live this morning, but everything I have read and seen makes his gold medal win sound like the #1 highlight of the olympics.

Interesting fact. The Canadian walker (Dunfee) that got the bronze in Tokyo was bumped by a Japanese athlete as they jockeyed for position during the last 500m in the 2016 Olympic event and finished 4th. The Japanese athlete was later disqualified due to the bump. The Japanese athlete appealed the dq and won, so he remained the bronze medalist. So, maybe karma owed Dunfee one?
Those two should do another 50 k walk-off.

:lmao:  The Canadian women's soccer team should have lost that game about ten different times
I'm no expert but thought the game was really one sided. The announcers made it sound like it was pretty equal. Was wondering if i was missing something.

I saw about 10 corners for Sweden and I think 2 for Canada.

The captain for Sweden must feel like crap after blowing her potential clincher over the bar.

Also, some weak efforts from both teams in the pk's.

Even after the botched handoff the USA anchor moved into 3rd place at full stride with a chance to close to at least silver.  He was passed by three other guys to finish 6th.  The handoff was awful but he did have a chance to medal.  Just got smoked.
I could be wrong, but I think the USA was disqualified because the handoff didn't occur within the designated zone.

 pretty sure that's part of their training.
Yeah I remember we used to have a local rugby club around here years ago and the stories of "rugby club night" at their favorite bar were legendary.
Rented a room from a frat in college. They were, among many things, the rugby frat. Rugby teams beat the #### out of each other during the game, and then try to drink the #### out of each other afterwards- the after game party between competing teams is tradition...and gets crazy.

One of the other things in the frat- local clubhouse for the NEastern collegiate Latvians. Take the post game rugby party and multiply by nonstop 3 days.

The "Madison" cycling events are wild. Tons of people on the track, and just watched a crash from the helmet-cam of a person that crashed.

It was incredible!  Also another great moment was when Dutch runner Hassan gets tripped and falls with 300+ yards left in the 1,500 and gets up and still wins the race.

I played for 10 years in New Zealand, Germany at at U of Wisconsin. The social aspect of the game was the same everywhere. Always fun at the afterparty to lift a glass and and engage in other stupid shenanigans with the opponents after beating the crap out of each other on the field.

Was the toilet rendered useless?

Watching the US Women's basketball team play on rerun and wow, what an incredibly fun team to watch.  Taurasi making passes out there that just......dazzle the eye.

US Women's indoor volleyball will get a chance at gold medal, something they have never won before.  Face the winner of Brazil-South Korea on Saturday
Just watched that replay.  Then watching Karch Kiraly's post-match interview made things a little dusty.  He was beaming and speechless with pride for his team.  So great.  Of course I might be biased because I pretty much worshipped the guy growing up.  Hope they finish the job against Brazil.
