2021-22 NBA Thread: Bill Simmons furiously recording 2.5 hour long pod about how Boston is still better than Golden State (1 Viewer)

Sacramento trading Halliburton is grounds for forfeiture of their franchise.  He’s the only player they should’ve had a death grip on.  I’d be furious if I were a fan of that franchise.
Reddit page for them absolutely melting down lmao

Seems like even giving up more pieces to the 76ers, they would have been better getting back Simmons than Sabonis as the main piece in a Haliburton deal.  Building around Simmons and Fox seems much more plausible.

A backcourt of two guys who can’t shoot and can’t make free throws.  Would’ve been a Kings thing to do, no doubt.  Maybe they can still make it happen!

Agree on the cruelty to Sacsters, but i like this for Sabonis, perhaps the most underrated player in the NBA (on a great contract). Holmes will understand the spacing like Turner never did.

He isn't having a great shooting season, but I wouldn't say that Fox can't shoot.
He’s shot 29%, 32%, and 25% from 3 the past three seasons, with his career at 31% on about one three point make per game.   That’s essentially “can’t shoot” in the NBA, especially if paired with someone like Ben Simmons, who quite literally, can’t shoot.

Maybe Holiday will be flipped? He’s unvaccinated. That’s an issue in CA, right? I doubt the Kings will want to deal with that. I’m guessing Holiday has at least a little value.

EDIT: This one is better with the teams getting +0, +1, -2, and +0 wins according to the trade machine.

Nets get Ben Simmons, Jaylen Brown, and Seth Curry and give James Harden and Joe Harris.

76ers get Harden and Joe Harris and give Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Tobias Harris.

Celtics get Tobias Harris, Malik Beasley, Tauren Prince (expirring), and Jaden McDaniels.

Wolves get Marcus Smart and Josh Richardson and give Beasley, Prince, adn McDaniels.

Have each of the other three teams throw a pick to the Celtics and I think we have a good one here.

Yea.  He is gone unless he just loves Portland, and wants to stay there.  But he isn't winning a title as the main guy there now.

Sounds like he's all in with POR still according to reports.

Oof. Sorry Kings fans

When the Bulls were terrible back in the early 2000s when Bibby, Peja, CWEBB, Vlade, etc were there I supported SAC as my secondary team but it was more as a casual fan as they were fun to watch and Bibby was kind of a local kid to a degree. I really feel for Kings fans though here.

28-2 BOS over BRK with over 5 minutes to go in the 1st. :yikes:
Boston has won 6 in a row (avg. MOV = 20.5) and 8 of last 9.  They've had all 5 starters play in each game of their win streak which is probably the key to every team's success right now.  Get your best players on the floor and you have a good chance to win because most of your opponents will have at least a couple of their top guys out.

Knicks are a mess

Again.
Remember when some were claiming the Knicks veteran signings (ie, overpayments) this summer would show stability, keep the team winning, and showcase their franchise for that big star acquisition?  Good times.  The sooner they realize Julius Randle is a part of the problem, and not the solution, the better they'll be.  Package trading him for a better all-around player / #2 option should be the priority.

Speaking of rough, big-market franchises - the Lakers may be the toughest watch in the entire NBA right now.  Seeing Westbrook destroy that team from the inside has felt like the team management equivalent of Ball Don't Lie.

Sixers should NOT be including Maxey and Thybulle in any deal for Harden.  The Sixers wouldn't do it for the Rockets, why would they now for the Nets?

Maybe instead see if Indiana is willing to move their new assets and add another team into the mix as well.

I 100% do not understand the inFATuation with Harden.  Ignoring the money aspect, if I was Jon Horst and the Nets offered me Harden straight up for Jrue Holiday, I'd decline.  I don't think I'd even give up Bobby Portis for Harden.

I guess he’s out for personal reasons. I haven’t seen much trade chatter about him but nothing would surprise me at this point.
Local plugged in radio guy is saying he’d be “surprised” if Holmes isn’t traded today. Bagley is apparently a lock to be dumped somewhere.

james beard of poop harden is 32 years old but seems like sort an old 32 and most nba players retire at 34 or 35 if i am reading the internet correct and even for those that keep playing 34 or 35 is when they really start to decline with 40 being the end of the road so would you really give up a lot for a guy who has sort of let his conditioning go and maybe has 3 years left if he fits the average i wouldnt but i also hate him so there is that take that to the bank brohans

do you guys remember when james crap beard harden said he was better than anteaternintendo that was a good one take that to the bank brohans

I mean, it isn't the Sixers fault that the Nets came over the top of their offer to Houston.  Seems the Nets are trying to save face because of all of the picks they sent out and two players who are now on the Cavs and will compete against them.

Simmons and Danny Green and a 1st and that's the most I would pay probably.  Maybe Curry too -- or Joe or Reed if that is what it took.

Simmons is junk, too.  If I'm the Sixers, and they want to trade me Harden 1:1, then fine, but I'm not giving them anything else for him.

Right.  These are both partial reclamation projects of very talented players at different stages of their careers.  Both of their values are down.  I think nothing gets done here but the Sixers make a few smaller moves for a backup PG/6th man.  Doubt they move Tobias either.

you guys are reading Poopbeard all wrong. all he gots is hoops and hoochies. given a reason (like a 2-man game w a Big Mamu like Embiid, esp w Maxey to do all the work) and a cure for Kyriecancer™, he'll be makin' it rain til Tom Brady dies

If the Sixers can turn Ben Simmons into 2-3 years of Harden and don’t do it, they’re idiots.  This is the 2-3 year window to nab a title with Embiid and I don’t see them getting a better return with how the Simmons saga played out.  I’d give up a little juice with Simmons to make it happen.  Seems like one of those deals that could be a win/win for both franchises if Harden has had enough in Brooklyn.

Yes and No.  Trading Simmons for Harden is for the purpose of winning a title.  If you give up so many other pieces that your roster cannot contend for said title, then it is pointless.

That’s why I said I’d “give up a little juice with Simmons.”  Obviously if they have to part with 2-3 rotational players then that’s where it starts making less sense.  Simmons, cap balancing player, and a future 1st/2nd?  Done.

The way the Bucks looked last night and the Suns in the West, may not be much of a "title window" anyway.

Embiid or Durant need actual teams around them if they are going to beat those two.  Not sure if swapping talented malcontents is gong to cut it.

Both of those guys motivated will really improve both teams.  Nets have more of an issue figuring out how Simmons and Kyrie work together I guess -- assume Simmons just is in dunker spot and finds him or Durant open.

On another note:  Lebron and AD looked legit depressed on the bench and after the game last night.  And Westbrook isn't happy either.  Not sure what can really happen there -- but someone is getting moved.

This Windhorst and Woj ‘reporting’ the opposite on the Sixers and Nets makes me dislike everything. Is there a Total Recall type experience that can wipe Ben Simmons from my brain?

Who are the non-Simmons/Harden players that are still out there or who do we think may make the buyout market?

If Sixers can still find a legit defender via another acquisition avenue, they would be more likely to move Thybulle -- I think Maxey is 100% off-limits.

I guess they can move Westbrook if they take back a bunch of expensive stuff in return but I don’t see anyway they actually fix it.

I love Lebron but he’s made his bed as the fake GM. This is all on him.

I just keep coming back to this whole thing being moot if the Sixers would have just signed Butler instead of re-signing Simmons and adding Horford.  Had they signed Butler and Harris and then traded Simmons instead, man this is a different world.

I still remember one Sixer fan here saying maybe they would re-sign Butler if he was willing to take a discount.
