2021 Las Vegas Raiders - PLAYOFFS!!!! (1 Viewer)

I agree. I heard a lot of talk on local radio about Gruden being criticized for not getting Ruggs more involved.

Gruden could go overboard in response. Folks sleeping on Ruggs. I wish he was there when I wanted to draft him.
this is a possibility.  he looked really good & quite promising against KC.  and then boom!  injury.  never really heard from him again, until the jets tried to lose.

the problem with gruden is, he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.  always.  he zigs, when everyone says zag.  he continues to waste a roster spot on ole natey P.   he of the 3 td/13 int fame.  i don't see gruden bowing to "pressure" to play anyone.  he runs that fake jet sweep, full back blast, like clockwork.     when he should be handing it to ruggs.

I think both will play well, in differing ways. Ruggs will take the top off - think Robbie Anderson or Will Fuller.

Edwards is more of a traditional alpha WR1 but I have even more durability concerns with him. He's been hurt pretty much every year since high school. He's either due for a healthy run or is made of porcelain.

Zay Jones is the deep sleeper. Ruggs/Edwards will get first crack, but if either or both falter again, Jones is ready to become this year's Agholor IMO.
I echo this mostly in my thinking with some small adjustments.

I do think Ruggs has the potential to be more than a Fuller or Anderson player but that is a fair comparison.

I do think Edwards has that all around type of #1 reciever potential and absolutely the biggest worry about him is health.

Not only does Gruden love Zay but Carr does too. Zay has logged a lot of time playing catch with Carr in the off season. He has had the tools there but neve seemed to put it together in Buffalo or with thr Raiders... yet.

I will add the Renfrow gets forgotton often. He will produce in the slot. Sure hands and great route running.

agree here too.  especially about Zay.  he's my sleeper in the group.  renfrow will be the number 2 target/producer, barring injury.

gruden should dial it up old school.  first play of the game.  go DEEP.   better yet, f it, flea flicker.  that would be so awesome.  i'm gonna be a bit drunk.  can't wait!  time is creeeeeeeeeeeping by.

How we feeling about Abram in IDP this year?

When they started using him as a box safety his production seemed more consistent & I think he blitzes as well, no?

I ask because in my IDP league with 3 Raider fans, they didn’t touch him. They all seemed to be down on the dude, but the reasons seemed more like RL football than  FF.

Curious what y'all Raider fan/FF sharks thought of him for 2021.
I expect a huge turn around.

He is now playing his natural position that uses his strengths and minimizes his weakness. It also is a defense where he should know where he is supposed to be and do rather than react out of place in the previous system (a common theme among most players).

I could be wrong... after all... what the hell do I know (right @DA RAIDERS?) but I think people are too focused on the past and don't account for "why did he play out of position?". He isn't going ro light up the board with INT's or anything but I expect much better play. Stat wise, I am not sure it will show up much different than last years stats.

Appreciate that, thanks.

Feel like in his current role he could be a lock for 100+ total tackles if he stays healthy.

Besides, I kinda hate rostering good cover DBs in FF. No one throws their way.
I am thinking 100 is top end for sure. Kam Chancellor didn't rack up a ton of 100+ seasons.. one or two I think? Abram had about 80 last season. The knock on him wasn't the tackles it was being out of position and asked to do a lot of coverage duty he isn't best suited for. I am about 80-90ish total tackles for him. Keep in mind, the front 7 are greatly improved from last year.

chad,

i'm gonna call you from the stadium, right before kick off...yes i have your number.       I'll already be fired up!!!  but your optimism, will put me OVER THE TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🏴‍☠️

abrams had 60 tackles and 26 assists last year.  3 tfl, 2 int, 5 pd

So that’s 86 total, and he’s likely going to be playing more like a LB this year. 100 shouldn’t be out of the question. I’m hoping he trades an Int or 2 for sacks to keep his total points up.

And since I’m sucking up oxygen in here, I’ll throw in a “RAAAAAAAAAIDERS!” for the cause. :pickle:

my flight doesn't leave until 3pm tomorrow.  so f'ing jacked right now!!

my goal is to bring some real OAKTOWN flavor to vegas.  i want that city to wonder what the #### just happened, after the game.  hopefully we win.  when we went to new orleans for the jack del rio, go for 2 game, we took over that night. bourbon street was all raider nation.  somehow, we ended up partying with JDR's daughter.   it was awesome.  it was so awesome, i flew up for the home opener against atl the next week

Have a blast, my friend. I hope it's a great game.

Jacobs active.

Also...

The Las Vegas Raiders are signing veteran defensive back Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the practice squad, Rapoport reported, via Clinton-Dix's agency. The Raiders elevated running back Trey Ragas from the practice squad.

Offensive line not playing well and Carr looks bad so far.

Down 14-0 to 14-10 at the half, ok getting better.

Not a bad way to start the season with the whole country watching and the booth all but saying the game was over because Lamar is figuring out the league, not the league figuring out him.

Too exhausted after that but will post my thoughts. Sneak peek... I was not surprised by much.

I don't think we got the Ravens best game, but they didn't get ours either. Banged up Jacobs, offensive penalties, injuries.

What I did see was young people making plays. Abrams had a big time hit on a TE late in a game, that's a new one from a Raider safety. Edwards. Ruggs. Crosby. A bunch of young guys really won the game for us.

If multiple kids take the next step, that's all they really need to get to a 10 or 11 win team.

My 8- and 4-yr old sons stayed up to celebrate this win with me. I tell them they can root for whomever they want. Both are budding Raider lifers - because of Carr, Jacobs and Gruden, not pops. As it should be. Thank you Mark, Mike and Chuck. Cheers, RN.

Holy ####!!!

Double FGs to send the game into overtime.

Then reaching the 1 yard line and ####### it up and then everything else after!!!

WTF!!! Go Raiders.

Games like that are why sports are the greatest form of entertainment , the fact that the Raiders were a part of it is just the cherry on top . I cant get enough of the highlights on tv

That was one hell of an emotional roller coaster.   That interception... my god.  Through the hands of Willie Sneed, off the helmet of a Raven defender and perfectly into the arms of another... on a play that would have won the game?!   And that was after the Raiders won, but didn't win... and after a false start on the rookie RT.

Quick thoughts:

  • I am excited to watch Maxx Crosby this season.  Seems like a new player - albeit, it was only one game
  • Raiders need to get Waller going, but seemed to be forcing the issue just a bit too much last night, imo.
  • Hunter picked up as the same reliable player we have all grown to love.
  • Edwards made some key catches at the end of the game.
  • Linebackers played better than last year.  KJ made a hell of a play behind the line of scrimmage to stop a key baltimore drive, but was also noticeably slow while chasing down a Raven on the sideline.
  • Abram played in position, which I think was a big problem in the previous two years.  Hoping Gus continues to unlock Abrams potential.
  • Loved that we didn't hear about Moehrig. No mistakes for the rook.
  • O-Line played decent, room for improvement.  More so mental errors/penalties then poor blocking.   Carr sacked 3 times, but had good protection when it was needed.
  • Worried about the injury status of Jacobs, Yannick, and McCoy.
  • Would love to know more about why Ferrell was a healthy scratch.

Oh, and Nassib has taken a lot of heat on this board, but he played very well in relief of Yannick.  Credit where credit is due.

the fumble sack was the most in raider OT play i’ve seen in years. first and goal at the half yard line and blowing it was what i expect to happen as a raiders fan. lamar evading is what i expected to happen, it’s what my dad expected to happen, it’s what my kids expected to happen, the dog expected…. you get the point, just win baby

Great win last night, let's take a few days to enjoy it because next week they head to Pittsburgh, totally different ballgame.

A few thoughts:

The injuries to Good, Jacobs and Yannick are concerning.

Dline: Sadly, I didn't miss Ferrell. Solomon Thomas was invisible, and Jefferson was all over the place. Maxx will probably end up being Mayock's best draft pick, and the addition of Yannick on the other side finally FINALLY gives them a pass rush!

Oline: Calais Campbell was a very tough 1st assignment for James. He got beat a few times but if he can survive that, he'll be fine at center. Leatherwood allowed a sack and had the penalty at the end of the game, it was a rollercoaster of a debut, but the kid will be ok. Kolton Miller! No one is talking about him, but his name was not called all night, exactly what you want to see from your LT. I'm worried about the depth at guard, hopefully Good will be ok.

Jacobs obviously is bothered by a toe injury which is bad news for a RB, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up missing time at some point. Drake can pick up the slack so that $11 mil might be worth it.

The WRs not named Renfrow finally got involved with:30 left in the game. I'm not smart enough to figure out why it took them so long to get involved. I think it had to do with Carr force-feeding Waller for the 1st 3 quarters and the Raven's very good secondary.

Abram looks like a different player, thank you Gus! The LBs were a mixed bag. I thought Perryman played well, KJ had one big play but he looked slow and out of shape out there. But I will say if they went into the season without those 2 additions, they'd probably be in trouble at LB.

Their kicking/punting game is money!

Overall great win, but they always start hot under Gruden. The true test of the Raiders will come when they need to win games like that in November and December. Let's bring that intensity to Pittsburgh next week! Go Raiders!!
