DA RAIDERS

i still believe that the NFL was trying to cover everything up. too many, or the the wrong people, saw the emails, and then they were leaked.
This is much more believable than the idea that the NFL has some vendetta against the Raiders. The leaked Gruden emails are viewed by some as a smear on the entire league and validation of league-wide jock mentality. That does not please advertiser. The NFL had a lot of motivation to keep these emails private.i still believe that the NFL was trying to cover everything up. too many, or the the wrong people, saw the emails, and then they were leaked.
The League knows who has access to those emails. Unless/until someone gets fired for leaking the info, the only logical conclusion is the leaks had the League's blessing. This assumes the NFL itself, or someone high up in its hierarchy, is the leaker. Florio believes that to be the case. But we don't know that for sure.
The NFL is going to have to do more than get rid of a coach in order to get a team to sell. Getting rid of Gruden actually helps the Raiders. It gets Davis get out of a horrible HC contract and the Raiders could have some good drafts and be a good football team in 2-3 years.Just my humble opinion, the NFL would love nothing more than to see Davis sell the team and try to find a minority group to buy in. That way they will seem more inclusive to the media and other outsiders. More along the lines as to how the NBA ownership has shifted.
It's all a big ploy, it may not happen tomorrow, but I see it happening in the not so distant future.
Like someone mentioned before, I feel like the NFL is undermining Davis, trying to frustrate him. Hoping he'll eventually just take the money and walk away someday. Just the feeling I get.The NFL is going to have to do more than get rid of a coach in order to get a team to sell. Getting rid of Gruden actually helps the Raiders. If the NFL wants to replace a current owner with a minority group, it seems the WFT should have been the target. Maybe that was the plan but it didnt work out.
I also had the thought that the next move would be for the league to try to get Mark to sell the team. I was thinking along the lines of using the Gruden emails to then open an investigation into the Raiders and if they found anything remotely unseemly trying to force Mark to sell.Just my humble opinion, the NFL would love nothing more than to see Davis sell the team and try to find a minority group to buy in. Never happen.Bruno2 said:Like someone mentioned before, I feel like the NFL is undermining Davis, trying to frustrate him. Hoping he'll eventually just take the money and walk away someday. Just the feeling I get.
No weirdness or last minute drama...it was definitely different. Good but different. That felt...good
Yeah. It was weird but when Denver scored early in the fourth my first thought wasn't "Here we goNo weirdness or last minute drama...it was definitely different. Good but different.
".The players stepped up BIG TIME ...and the play calling felt different...more aggressiveVERY satisfying win. Dominant on both sides of the ball from beginning to end. Except for a couple of 3rd and longs that the Broncos made in the first half ("here we go again" moments) this game felt in hand and both sides of the ball had a real SPARK and drive, unlike last week. Tied for 1st in the AFC West. Let’s go Raiders!
It was and things could go back to being "Oh Raiders" next week but this felt like a confident team that knew they would win.wow
this team continues to surprise me. great win!
This team of players is tight. I have commented on that before... especially when Carr got hurt. You say that tightness... and you saw that this team was Carr's. Both the Offense and Defense love our QB. Glad most of Raider Nation is catching up to that as well.I'm proud of this team today. They came together through adversity. Proves they have a strong locker room, which might be more important than anything going forward.
Few and far between. Only one that comes to mind is John Harbaugh.I didn't get to see the game. Hoping to catch a reply.
Glad to see the team seemed to refocus on themselves and the job at hand. Again... literally everything I read about Rich is nothing short of absolute praise. I wonder if he never got a HC shor because he was a ST coach and I can't remember any HC moving from ST to HC before.
Decoy spice looking good! His most impressive catch was right at the beginning of the game. Snagged an semi errant throw out of the air, for a 8-9 yard gain.Henry Ruggs III had two receptions of 40-plus yards, including a 48-yard TD. Since entering the NFL in 2020, Ruggs is tied with Davante Adams for the most 40-plus-yard receptions (eight) and all four of his career receiving TDs have been 40-plus yards.
It worries me how often he throws off off his back foot. Both of those throws to decoy spice are examples. there were a few more as well. I get that it’s an Oline issue, but it worries me. Straight from ST to HC is not going to happen often. I’m sure there are head coaches that have been ST coaches at some point in their careersI didn't get to see the game. Hoping to catch a reply.

I don't really see why they were lucky. Carr gave him a shot to make plays and he made them. Just seems like a really good player making plays to me. I know a lot of people hated that he was picked so high, but I think it's about time to just say that maybe he's actually a good WR.The 2 long gains were both “oh ####” moments. They were closer to punts than passes. Especially the 2nd one. Decoy spice did just enough to catch them. But the DB’s utterly failed. A catch is a catch, so I’ll take it. But they were both on the lucky side.
John Harbaugh spent a long time as Andy Reid's ST coach in Philly. When he told Reid he wanted to become a head coach, Reid moved him to DB coach for a year because most teams wouldn't take a chance on someone who'd only been a ST coach. He got the Ravens job a year later and you all know the rest.I wonder if he never got a HC shor because he was a ST coach and I can't remember any HC moving from ST to HC before.
Its my understanding that Gruden called all the offensive plays and now Rich Bisaccia is allowing Olson to call ALL the plays himself. Whatever is going on the plays looked more aggressive and the offense came alive today.Straight from ST to HC is not going to happen often. I’m sure there are head coaches that have been ST coaches at some point in their careers
Personally, I’m taking a wait and see approach on coach B. This win, imho, is 98% on the players and about 2% on the coaches. Coach B held it together this week. Carr and Olsen ran the offense. Bradley and the boys ran the d.
Coach b seems like a solid likable dude. Not anointing him to anything beyond that yet.
Great win
Maybe lucky isn’t the right word. When the ball was in the air, especially on the 2nd one, I was worried. But Decoy spice made the plays! I give him that! I guess my main concern was the throws. But f it. Just win baby.I don't really see why they were lucky. Carr gave him a shot to make plays and he made them. Just seems like a really good player making plays to me. Yep. And hey, welcome to the team drake! Only time I yelled at the tv was when they ran that 3 players in the backfield, cloud of dust, burn the clock , Gruden #### early/middle 4th. Too conservative at that time of the game. Its my understanding that Gruden called all the offensive plays and now Rich Bisaccia is allowing Olson to call ALL the plays himself. Whatever is going on the plays looked more aggressive and the offense came alive today.

I’ve been calling for more decoy spice for a few weeks now. I’m not discounting his impact on the game and want to see more of it.
Spice will always be part of his name after that robe on draft day. Dude is balling, might have to drop the decoy. But it’s a silly thing, from this thread, that’s funny. Even more so, as he balls out.His name is Henry ####### Ruggs. Put some respect on it.
Correct. Gruden called offensive plays and Olsen now has play calling duties. Its my understanding that Gruden called all the offensive plays and now Rich Bisaccia is allowing Olson to call ALL the plays himself. Whatever is going on the plays looked more aggressive and the offense came alive today.
I didnt get to watch the game but Ruggs and the Raiders impressed. I didnt think the team focus enough on the game to win but obviously that was wrong. Moving on from Gruden could be a big positive in the long-term. Who knew it had a chance to be a positive in the short-term too?Spice will always be part of his name after that robe on draft day. Olsen called a much more balanced offense. I was really impressed. And Lincoln Kennedy has been screaming on the radio for them to call that screen pass for what, 2 years? And it worked beautifully.Correct. Gruden called offensive plays and Olsen now has play calling duties.
the d line is straight crushing it. wreaking absolute havoc. it's awesome. i whined about having too many DT's, but it's working well and i was wrong.Only catching some highlights... a difference maker this year for the Dline is the middle guys. At least one of Maxx's sacks was possible because there was no pocket, it was collapsing. Previous years (even before with Mack) there was almost no push up the middle or disruption there and the QB's could simply move up and have time. I was worried about the middle with Hankins and Philon out but it looks like Jefferson, Thomas and Square stepped up.
I saw Abram with the nice INT late in the game. He got up and snatched that ball out of the air. Facyson and Moehrig had INT's I see in stats but haven't seen the highlights yet.
32 and 33 yard average per catch for Ruggs and Edwards.
The only concerning thing I see in the stat line is Jacobs 3.3 average per carry but Drake had 8 per carry and both did damage in the passing game.
There is a lot of young talent on this team. Regardless of what some want to say. Sure, you can question some early draft picks during the Raider era but a lot of those questions over time have been silenced. Miller is a solid LT.... just like Leatherwood, we were mocked for taking him and just like Leatherwood, he struggled a lot in his rookie season. Will Leatherwood get better like him? I hope so. Ruggs and Edwards were written off last year. Same with Abram. Yes, it looks like Cle and Arnette are misses for being selected where they were. I think the one thing I totally missed on this off season in my rants was that Cle would have much more snaps than he is getting which is about 25% of snaps and he isn't making much of an impact on those snaps.
Here is a question I always had about the HC in the NFL. What makes a great HC? Most are not as involved in the offense or defense like Gruden was on offense. Many very good and effective OC's and DC's consistently fail as HC's. Many very successful college HC's tend to struggle in the NFL. Take Brady away (and Brady's ability to get very good players to come play with him on the cheap) and Belicheat looks like a below average HC but so many call him the GOAT. He had a year to blame the cap but then went on a spending spree this off season and is 2-4 now. If you look at the HOF of great coaches and you would be hard pressed to find any two of them to be similar at all. I don't know much about Bisaccia other than the info I have vacuumed up in the last week. It appears that the team did indeed rally amongst themselves and around Bisaccia. I certainly didn't call it but I did suspect it. They could have easily crumbled and the past Raider teams, even those showing promise, would have and did crumble under much less significant pressures. From everything I can see this team is well lead by Carr and it is a very close team. Everything I have heard or read about Bisaccia is that everyone loves him but more importantly "the best leader of men" is a common phrase used about him. Is it possible that "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done" Genesis 50:20 (NIV)?
The talk now is that Gruden and Davis are working on an amicable settlement on tbe remaining contract. The team isn't off the hook for 60 million but it isn't paying that either.Dust settled, this is what I'm left thinking:
1. The league might have buried Gruden and thought they were screwing the team with the timing, but the team just put 60 mill back in the bank. If they get a good coach, there's no long term damage. Also very possible that Mayock and Davis were clued in, and let it happen. Why not? Because the owners don't like Mark Davis? He's an outsider, but HE didn't sue anyone, and has a sparkling new stadium that will make everyone money. The Al Davis stuff was 40 years ago, Jerry Jones and Stan Kroenke couldn't care less. And Jerry is an ally. I'm not saying for sure, but possible.
2. We might see the offense pump it up. You have offensive coaches who maybe have nothing to lose, so they don't need to be as conservative. Head coaches in the NFL are sooo conservative, for good reason. And Gruden would get a lead, and turtle up. Really depends if the o-line can be at least average
where are you seeing these? i'm not seeing anything other than conjecture and opinion at this point. not doubting you, just haven't seen much on these subjects yet.The talk now is that Gruden and Davis are working on an amicable settlement on tbe remaining contract. There is also talk of a lawsuit from Davis over the emails... carrying on the family tradition.
Davis did not want this and is pissed about it all. He believes the league did it intentionally and is out to get him too.
Paranoid. Maybe... but it isn't paranoia if it is true.
Which part?where are you seeing these? i'm not seeing anything other than conjecture and opinion at this point. not doubting you, just haven't seen much on these subjects yet.
i hadn't seen that cbs article. wouldn't it be amazing if he did what he'd said he was going to do and not take the money it it didn't work out?Which part?

I have seen similar reporting in other articles. Nothing hard concrete... mostly sources and people close etc...
