2021 Las Vegas Raiders - PLAYOFFS!!!! (2 Viewers)

ruggs' absence was not the reason carr couldn't throw the ball well.  come on.
Why not? Ruggs presence opened up the underneath for all our other weapons with the threat of the deep ball. Without that things tighten up everywhere. I'm hopeful Jackson can fill that same role.

Edwards ended up 0 for 4 targets but they were all very bad throws iirc. Sad good/interesting to see Carr looking for Edwards in a few key situations. I come out of this game thinking that Edwards might have more upside in the Raiders O than Zay.

And all the AFC West teams win…except us. Ugh. This team is gut wrenching. Basically a 4 way log jam in the AFC West right now.

True but he was throwing high on multiple passes, he didn't see Waller find the zone behind the safeties for a wide open TD etc. He was off, it happens.

Great QBs have bad games. Dak was terrible today, Allen looked lost against the freaking Jags, Mahomes has been off all season. It happens.

No need for people to panic or be overly critical.

Did ruggs’ Absence cause care to misfire on throws all day?  To open wrs?  It’s not like it was lock down coverage.  Carr was missing all day.

I mentioned earlier this year, after game 1. He’s constantly behind Waller with his throws. Same thing today. Plus a ton of poorly thrown balls.  Dude had 90% completion game, now he can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Weird game. Terrible game. But I’m not putting on ruggs not being there

Zay had his man beat bad on the 2nd int and if the safety hadn't rolled perfectly on time that would've been a super long Ruggs-like TD. They shld've called more targets like that to Zay early on and throughout.

No, Carr was definately off target today and he that was a big reason for the loss. I do think that the lack of a deep threat tightend some passing windows. Some self scounting is in order as well becasue the Giant D seemed to key in on some tendencies.

Let's not kid ourselves, they could have won this game. They should have won this game. They didn't lose because of it but the absence of Ruggs unquestionably had a profound impact on the game.

Carr is not an elite QB but he is good enough and would likely be better if he had a good set of WRs for a few seasons.  The WR Corp is a revolving door.    Ruggs is gone.  Edwards isn’t good.  Renfrow is a nice chain mover.  DJax will be injured in a game or two and is not a long term solution.   Zay doesn’t seem to be the answer.

That is not what I was saying (though it did feel like the offense has less explosiveness sans Ruggs, but I am holding off in that because that also could just have been Carr's horrible day).

Simply put... the whole thing with Ruggs isn't like losing a player to injury. If one of my close friends was in similar situation, it would distract me from doing my job. I wouldn't be at my best.

I think it is reasonable to say that Carr having a trainwreck of a day had something to do with Ruggs drama.

I think they ranged from not good placement while the defense played it to horrible throws.

I am not sure it was tendency... the booth said that but later even said that Carr pump faked there and that got the safety over there.

How?  I just don’t see it. I think Carr just had an awful game. All the other phases of the game were pretty on point.  Jacobs getting dinged up, again, slowed things down a little.

Maybe they’re starting their 2nd half collapse a little earlier this year to beat the holiday rush.

The fade is expected isn’t it?   It’s what the Raiders do but at least this year brings valid reasons.  Would anyone be surprised if this team only musters another 3 wins?

I wonder if there is some statistic for the way teams played / record  after a teammate was arrested for Murder or a major car crash that lead to deaths ,like the next game or so when these stories broke .Guys like Rae Carruth , Ray Lewis ,Leonard Little or  Dwayne Goodrich and Donté Stallworth to name a few.

carr played AWFUL.  i mean really really bad.  overlook the 3 turnovers, he still played terribly.  he's back to throwing behind waller on EVERY throw.  just awful SMDH  the team looked really good outside of carr.

zay got 4 targets i think.  1 catch, 1 int and 2 desperation throws out of bounds, in the red zone.
Carr was horrible yesterday.  When the team needed him to put them on his back, Derek failed miserably.

That performance certainly won't quiet the Joey Bosas of the world that publicly question Derek's mettle.

I think it's worse than this.  The rest of the team played well.  The run game was working well.  Jacobs/Drake had 17 carries for 106 yards and the defense played well.  They just needed Carr to play decent yesterday.

This one is pretty much all on Carr, but it's one game and he has been having a great season.  Hopefully this was just a blip and Carr can get back to playing like he was previously.

This was a very uncharacteristic game for Carr. He has had 2 INT before and been 60%ish completion in games but I can't remember him making several horrible throws like that in a game where he missed players. That Waller miss doesn't happen with him... like ever.

Was it just a bad game for him? Maybe. That happens. Did the drama play a part? It is certainly plausible. It isn't something any of us can definitively say it did or did not play a part. The players said it didn't but what do we expect them to say?

Though we dropped the game and should have won it, it was no where near a meltdown. Carr hits Waller instead of over throwing him by a mile and that it the difference on the game.

I think they will be able to focus more this week. Time and a game out of the way will help them get back to things. Adding DeSean will add speed back to the offense. Not Ruggs speed but Agholor speed and last year showed that was enough.

With Mahomes not only showing he is mortal but his play is seemingly getting worse as the season goes. I like this match up with now. Without the Chef offense being scary good like it has been the last couple of years they are nothing special. Of course, I am worried that all of a sudden they find their groove but for some reason that offense is just off the rails. We beat them last year when their offense was playing well and our defense is much better this year. We have some tough matchups with Bengals, Browns, Cowboys and Chargers but I think we can get on course.

Bosa was talking about hitting him. That is debatable though his footwork does get questionable when the pocket collapses he still is normally very accurate. Anyone else can kindly shut the hell up.

31/34 323 yards 2 TD, 1 INT is pretty much putting the team on his back. He was nearly freaking perfect coming out of losing the HC in unprecedented circumstances.

This kind of bs pisses me off.

It is damn easy to spout off crap like sitting on your couch or type away on a keyboard. It is the same "Carrbage" crap of morons saying "Yea, but has he won a playoff game?" that exposes drooling mouth breathers that have no understanding of anything let alone football. I would be surprised if any idiot that says this crap can tie their shoes, hell, they probably get confused with the velcro that they have to use.

You guys are gonna smoke the Chiefs.

Our offense is dog-crap.  And the Raiders - that game yesterday is just one of those days in the NFL. And your team certainly has a lot on it's mind right now. AND you had to fly cross country for the game.

To me the Raiders are still the best team in this division.

like i said, it was a weird game for carr.  he sailed at least 2 passes 10 feet over the receivers heads in the end zone.  constantly behind players.  starting with the pick 6.  he was behind them, even on receptions.  didn't even see a wide open waller,  in the end zone.  it's a long list.

i don't think carr's the kind of guy to be emotionally overwhelmed by something like this.  he's is a pro.  i doubt he and ruggs were close.  they were teammates and work associates, but i doubt they were hanging out. i'm sure carr was sweet about ruggs having a kid.  but the super christian guy and the 22 year old thug don't seem like a match.  anyone think DC and arnette are buddies?   :lmao:

if they don't win this next game,  it's ovah

get him chad!!

how many wins do you see the rest of the way?  the schedule is tough from here on out.  with washington being the only obvious should win.  and it's no gimme
i hope we win out, that being said i think we have been dealt a ####ty hand this last month and its going to be an up hill battle that i plan on supporting the team  just the same

This game had some early makings of a trap game BEFORE the Ruggs situation.   The team has always had a hard time traveling east and playing in the first slate of games, against a team with a 2-6 record, plus the schedule ahead (KC, CIN,@Dallas).

The Giants showed up and played great red zone D... a bend don't break approach.  In the years past, this game would have been 41-8 for the Giants.

Never the less, sitting at 5-3 the Raiders still control their own fate.  However, they have a crazy tough schedule ahead.
5 of the 9 games are on the road.
4 of the 9 games are divisional matchups.
7 of the 9 games are against teams with winning records as of today.

Carr never got into a rhythm yesterday, poor throws, bad turn overs.  The fumble at the end was just a great play by the defensive player, and a (rare) poor play by Miller.

Happy that the Raiders made a move for DJax, on to the next two home games to re-establish their path on the 2021 season.

:lmao:   i hope we win out too!  that would be amazing!!

i have supported this team through it all.  even through jawalrus and beyond.  but i'm not a blind homer.

the rest of the schedule is brutal.  bengals, browns, chiefs twice, donkeys, dolts, cowboys, colts, wft.  5 maybe 6 of those teams are going to the playoffs.

stick around zado!  i love talking raiders.

There was nothing about Ruggs that was thug like.

Even the massive failure in choices leading to this horrible event wasn't thug. It was just a 22 year old making bad choices.

I know I made some really bad choices... some could have killed someone else and some almost killed me. Thankfully, I learned from them and moved on. I also didn't have millions of cash and fame though which tend to add fuel to the fire of bad choices.

I think they get back to being ready but there are a lot of rough games ahead of us. But if we want to be a factor in the playoffs, the Chargers, Cowboys... Brown and Begals (damn that is wierd to type) are the kind of teams we have to beat.

I'm not blind

sometimes our fan base disappoints me more than the team does
After 40 years of following this miserable team, I don’t care what anyone thinks about my fan status.  Gruden ruined this team with his crappy draft selections.   Some of his FA choices were bad too but it’s the lack of talent being drafted year after year that hurts most.   This team has likely begun its annual fade right on cue and the SB plans should probably be put on hold.

We need to get through this season and start drafting young talent to fill the holes that most of us have been discussing for decades.

Probably goes without saying, but this was a bad loss. The Giants aren’t a good team. I get traveling coast to coast, but this was one that got away from the Raiders.

the AFC is a hot mess right now & they could have made this a message game. I mean, they did, but it was the wrong message.

They definitely missed Ruggs,  but Carr has seemed off in both his last starts. Maybe the Gruden departure has effected him more than anyone figured it would.

Carr had a bad game.  It’s one game.  It happens.  Carr has had a rough month thanks to Gruden, Ruggs, and now Arnette.

The Raiders have not done him any favors.  Moving Hudson was stupid. Drafting Ruggs over Lamb looked comically bad on draft day and is now a disaster.  We are hoping a 53 year old DJax saves our WR Corp!?!   Goodness.  Jackson will be lucky to play two games before his hammy is hanging down to his ankle.

Buckle up boys.  Things may get ugly.

Wow.

"Raiders waived CB Damon Arnette.

A video of Arnette flashing multiple firearms and verbally threatening someone surfaced last week, spurring the former No. 19 overall pick's release. With henry Ruggs's recent release, the Raiders are now without both of the first-round picks they made in 2020. Arnette failed to make much of an impact in a season and a half. He appeared in four games this year before suffering a groin injury that sent him to injured reserve. Arnette broke up one pass and logged four combined tackles in those four non-starts."

What's with the weird gangster gun culture suddenly revealing itself in the Raiders org?

This is such a stupid comment. Show me a QB that doesn't wilt in the face of a strong, constant pass rush. I have seen every QB have the same reaction in the face of a strong pass, including Brady, Manning, Montana and Marino.

There is a reason Al used to say, "The QB must go down, and must go down hard."

Arnette always sucked, and should have been a day 3 pick. He was easily the worst of the Raiders horrible string of 1st rounders since Gruden took over. He was like the 4th best DB on that Ohio St team.

The bolded is somewhat ironic, as many of the 1st round reaches, were due to their high character(in Gruden's words) and winning backgrounds(as if that is a thing)

Its sort of amazing that the Raiders best 1st rounder was a RB, and even then a guy who has had a lot of trouble staying on the field.

Anyway, unlike Ruggs, this is no big loss, and probably addition by subtraction.

We know what you’re trying to do with this post and it ain’t gonna work.

Right, we know about the reverse jinx.

Not this time. I'm a realist, and the Chiefs are just bad this year. But man, I don't know how much more bad news that the Raiders can take. My gut tells me this is going to galvanize them and put some chip on their shoulders like the old days.

They just have that feel to me.
