2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Queued up a playlist of our greatest zits throughout the season for final game (2 Viewers)

That said the crop of qbs stinks this year and he's still most likely better than those coming out.   Until a better option arises I'm cool sticking with him.

I think the only thing saving his job next year is lack of a blatant better option of he'd be replaced as early as this coming offseason.

The post you quoted was from Dec 5th.  Watching the Eagles now, do you believe that they would crushed in round 1?  I feel like a lot has changed the past few weeks and they look a lot better.  Sure the teams they face in the playoffs will be better than Washington and NY but with that offensive line and an improving defense, I think this team can hold their own against most teams in the league.

I think round 1 entirely is more about who we face match up wise. I don't see us if we get by WC round we have a chance the following week. If I have this correct it's Dal or LAR we match up with. Division games are always hard to judge. LAR in LA It's essentially home away from Home for the Eagles. I think the Defense can handle Stafford to an extent but I don't think our offense could keep up in a shootout I could see us losing a close one to Dal and being blown out by LA our getting blown out in both games at this point.

I don't trust the Defense vs the Big Boys yet and I don't see our offense with the QBs we have at our disposal winning a shootout.

Not Parsons. He hates Penn State.

I hate PSU for a lot of reasons. Not as much because of a friend but because of the cult and brainwashed supporters it produces and the we're better then you mentality. Also I'm more of a Temple/Nova guy. Never cared for PSU and don't see why its viewed as a local college other then the obvious in State and State University. Up there is more Pittsburgh than Philly.

What's up my dudes? It's January 1st at 2 am in my neck of the woods. Like many of us I've pulled in the new year with style.

:suds:

But get this. Even though my prediction of 10 - 7 with us being road warriors might become a reality...

We haven't won a single game against any contenders. I hate to bust our bubble so soon but I'm afraid we will get destroyed in the playoffs.

We gonna need 27+ with long time consuming drives if we gonna make it to the promise land. We can't afford slow starts plus as Doug would say, keep the hammer down.

I am hopeful and I am always optimistic but holy sh** in the NFC this might be the toughest road to the Super Bowl for all contenders not just us.

My prediction for the SB is KC vs GB. My wish is Colts vs Eagles. That would be epic...

I don't think you're busting anyone's bubble, I don't think a single one of us is expecting a deep playoff run and we'd just be thrilled to make the playoffs.

As for the "haven't won a game against any contenders".... I hate this point people make in sports.  Most teams haven't won many games against contenders.  You have good teams like division leading 9-6 Cinci who also hasn't beaten a single playoff team this year.  11-4 division leading Cowboys who are 1-2 against teams with 9 or more wins.  Heck, even the cardinals are 2-3 against playoff teams.

I think we're all expecting, and happy with a first round exit this year.

Super Bowl or bust for me.

He got absolutely embarrassed by Brady and TB in the first game of the year and I think had he stayed at that position I don't think he'd be as successful as he is now.
The dude played 3/4 in his first ever NFL game. He had 3 solos, 4 assists, a QB hit and a pass defensed. If that’s what you want to call being “embarrassed” then you really should check the scouting reports of your neighbors/co workers/ cousin once removed that is giving you all your “inside info”. Please, Djackson10 just admit when your wrong. If the guy was in an Eagles jersey you would be praising the steal of the draft they got. The trade up for a stud like D.Smith was great for both teams. But no way you have any credibility if you can’t recognize greatness because you are blinded by the fact he wears an enemies colors. It’s really pathetic and hilarious at the same time.

I love Devonta Smith, but man I'd love to have Parsons on my team. Sucks extra that he's a Cowboy.

Well no way to have both and I'm betting devonta is relevant longer
Only time will tell. Both are valuable assets to their respective teams. Both fill a huge need, but Skinny Smith needs to put on a few pounds to help him maintain his health. Talent will keep him around, but an injury may not. I’m looking forward to years of a competitive battle.

Well obviously there was no way to have both and I love having Smith. But at the same time I can acknowledge how good Parsons has been and lack of such an impact player on the Eagles D.

Both can be true. Go Eagles

No way to know though if we'd have used Parsons as the pass rusher or stuck him as traditional LB. As a traditional LB he's fine, but not special - Dallas using him as a rusher is where he becomes otherworldly.  In our defense LB's simply do not rush much.

It feels great knowing that the Eagles didn’t blow another first round pick for a change. With that said, I think Smith’s true ascension to NFL greatness will wait to come with a better passing QB while Parsons is an absolute day 1 NFL stud and would look fantastic in this defense.

Slim-Reaper, thank you very much.

And there is no way the Birds would use Parsons as effectively as Dallas.  Like zero point zero chance.

@DJackson10 -Am I right about why you don’t like Parsons? If you can separate the college hazing accusations for a sec, you can admit that Parsons is a helluva player, right?

Also I forgot to mention and won't go into detail (since it's a personal situation) but the stuff what happened at PSU with Sandusky and such hits too close to home with my family. If you care more about football then making sure your University is safe and after reporting it know your head honchos will cover it up you should be doing more. But JoePa cared more about his ego than protecting kids.

I have zero respect for anyone who does that or defends it and have gotten out of friendships with people I've known since Elementary school because they were so brainwashed by the cult there. I will say I have other friends who went there who stay out of the whole situation and one of them happens to be the nephew of my store director at my current job and we're still friends. I just think anyone who defends that shows their true colors of who they character wise and should never be trusted amongst friends, family or at work. If you are gonna defend child abuse what else will this person do or defend as well?

Don't get me wrong I love football but there's things more important then the game. My opinion was Paterno and company projected the program because they didn't want to take the PR and a possible recruiting hit but it did more to hurt them then anything. I was of the opinion that PSU should've received the death penalty but the NCAA was never gonna do it, because of the amount of $$$ the program makes them. It's just unfortunate how dirty college football is

The few SBs I've always wanted match up wise for the Eagles

Steelers vs Eagles: State rivalry that most of the nation would probably hate

Bills vs Steelers" Bills Mafia and Eagles fans tailgating together. The party before the game that whole week is just epic

KC vs Eagles: What better storyline then Andy Reid vs his first team he first HC?

Colts vs Eagles: There's a lot of obvious here.

The bold is my issue. Parsons as a traditional LB was incredible overrated. He was good but not worth top 20 pick and doesn't make the impact he has as a pass rusher. He was lost in pass coverage against TB that first game. And that was my point. Could he become a better traditional LB? Who knows he was good in college but I didn't see him as this "special must have talent" people thought he was. I think people locally overrated him as a LB because 1: our need for LBS and 2: he went to PSU.

Perfect example of locals overrating prospects in terms of how good they will be in a specific area at the NFL level. Parsons is a much better edge rusher, run D LB but as a traditional he's nothing special. People I even talked too said despite the Eagles needed LB's he's not the guy I'd take for the Eagles as he just doesn't fit the scheme. It'd be putting a square peg in a round hole for them. good rush DE in a 4-3 and he's a great edge rusher in 3-4 scheme.

DAL scored 42 in the first half on this team, we've managed 7.

DAL allowed this team to only score 14 (7 in garbage time) the whole game last week, we've allowed 16 in 2 quarters.

When we don't make the playoffs, it will be because we didn't deserve it and are nowhere near being a "playoff" team compared to the real playoff teams.

Not taking anything away from Hurts, he’s been great today, but back-to-back plays just now that define how much his passing deficiencies “leave meat on the bone”:

- Under-threw Watkins on a double move where he had a LB on him, and had to come back for the ball and the LB broke it up. Hit him in stride and he’s gone for huge gain.

- Smith on a crosser where he didn’t throw in front of him to lead him and instead the trailing DB was able to knock it away before it even got to Devonta.

They were on 2nd and 10, and 3rd and 10, leading to a punt after starting on our own 45 after finally getting a stop on D.

i'm watching quite a bit of the Colts game, and have to say i am very thankful they decided not to keep Frank Reich. i don't know if he is calling plays or what, but they are just playing horrendous and should be killing this Raiders team if they were not as conservative on offense. they look like they may lose this game, and really they have no right making a run in the playoffs if they can't beat this beat up Raiders team

Conservative play calling is what cost them the Ravens game

You nuts?  Reich is amazing.

if he is calling pays, no he isn't. maybe he is sick or something, but they should have easily won the game today. Wentz had like 3 pass attempts through most of the 1st half. was super obvious to see what plays they were running too, and then when they actually decide to pass you can see how easy it is for almsot everyone to get open

To say you're glad we got rid of him over one game is crazy.  He's been an amazing head coach for 2 years.

Wentz didn’t practice all week. I think the game plan was to run.

Hurts has grown. Can't say I'm in yet, but he's definitely grown. Overall impressed with what he's done this year. Has really done all we could ask or expect

And this was the first year of the rebuild. We won 4 games last year and gave up 418 points. The last 5-6 games are one of the best defensive streaks we have had in 30 years.

Keep adding talent man and we are in great shape!

Right, he's grown which is what we wanted to see this year. He's not a finished product yet.

His style combined with the run game and defense and we can win games. I think of him as when Wilson when he first started. He wasn’t the focal point and that was fine.

Oh no question he has a lot of growth still to go. I am still encouraged seeing his growth from last year though. He'll just need to continue it this offseason.

"Amazing" might be overstated though? If he's amazing and Wentz is this terrific QB - you'd think they'd be better then 9-7. He's good.

There's talk of Reich for Coach of the Year.  Many of us in here had the point of view that Reich was the brains behind our offense in the SB year and not Doug.  They were 6-1 in their last 7 games before today and suddenly it's "I'm so glad we didn't keep Reich"???  Jeeeezuuuss

Also I didn't say that. Did you reply to the wrong post? I said he's not 😍Amazing😍

No but you you seemed to make a contradictory post to me thinking it was a huge overreaction for mo to say he's happy he's gone.

Maybe your definition of amazing is different than mine.  He's generally seen as one of the top 5 coaches in the league... I call that amazing.

He's currently (likely will drop after today) the 2nd best vegas odds to win Coach of the year in the nfl.  I call that amazing, maybe you don't.

In no particular order you have:

1. Belichick

2. Reid

3. Tomlin

4 Harbaugh

5. McDermott

6. Payton

7. Carroll

8. McVay

9. Arians

10. Laflaur

11. Vrabel

12. Shannahan

He’s 37-26 with 1 playoff win in 2018. I think he’s a good coach but “generally a top 5 coach” is a little extreme.
