Why? I mean, other than the obvious. That was a good trade, we gonna make teh playoffs with a shot at a home series. And we have Ant, who will probably end up breaking Lebron's scoring record.I feel bad for T-Wolves fans.

on pace to break lebron's career record.Cam Thomas might end up winning the scoring title.
He'll be out for a bit and probably come back with one of those facemask things.More news—not trade related—but looks like Jaylen Brown might miss some time. Shams is saying the friendly fire hit from Tatum resulted in a facial fracture. I hope it’s nothing too serious. Already ruled out through the all star break and possibly longer.
There goes half of their scoring
I hear they're interested in Nerlens NoelAre the 76ers expected to do anything at the deadline?
I've heard Celtics interest in him as well.I hear they're interested in Nerlens NoelAre the 76ers expected to do anything at the deadline?
Nets shouldn’t be done dealing. Everyone wants two-way wings and that’s all the Nets have right now. Plenty of good targets for contenders.
Wait...your previous post wasn't a joke?Five.![]()
I said this before, but that's not totally true for this year. Houston will surely have worse pick than Brooklyn no matter what this year and this year is a swap. So Brooklyn could get in position for a top 10 pick and still keep it. Or at worst get Houston's pick which would still be good. After this year, Houston isn't as assured of being terrible and also owes their own pick to OKC so they won't have much incentive to tank.Nets shouldn’t be done dealing. I doubt they're done but it's an interesting bind with the rebuild. Tanking really only helps Houston.
backup center seems to be their main interest, like noel as others mentioned. I'm sure they'd love to do more, but really have very little of value to anyone. Are the 76ers expected to do anything at the deadline?
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. In a post-super team league that's reverted back into power duos (thank god btw), having 3 guys who can drop 30+ any given night, with a HoF'er in Paul directing them, that gives you a sizeable advantage against just about everybody. But Book & KD with CP3 running things and a scoring threat in the paint with Ayton? I don't know how you guard that. Only thing that can truly slow this team down is their health. All 3 of Paul, Booker and KD have missed significant time already this season. Ayton was disgruntled but should feel good that he was kept on the roster. I also really like Monty as a coach and think he gets it to work as long as he has time to work with them all together before the post season.
Well, that is the backup post player move I was expecting. Guess they are more or less with content with Luke Kornet's contributions.Shams:
Boston is sending Justin Jackson and two second-round picks to OKC for Mike Muscala, sources said.
Yeah, I think the value of 2nd rounders to most teams is that you can generally flip them for $500k-3m on draft night.A team can always just buy a 2nd rounder too.
or maybe not.backup center seems to be their main interest, like noel as others mentioned. I'm sure they'd love to do more, but really have very little of value to anyone. Are the 76ers expected to do anything at the deadline?
so i don't understand several things here. Not sure if they could give Charlotte enough, but Jalen McDaniels' salary would match. I guess that 23 second would be pretty good and maybe lighten the protections on the first they owe Charlotte. It seems like the Nuggets and Bones Hyland have had a falling out and are now looking to trade him. It seemed like everything was all good until this happened, whatever this was. Prior to that incident, Bones was playing 21 mpg averaging 13.5 ppg and 3.3 apg and shooting 41% from the field and 41% from three. Since that game, he's averaging 16 mpg, 8.3 ppg, 2.1 apg and shooting 34% from the field and 25% from three. Last night he played just over 4 minutes and looked almost like he was purposely sand bagging it so it seems like a forgone conclusion he is gone in the next couple weeks.
The Nuggets are apparently shopping him for a rotational two way wing. He's making $2.2m this year, which limits matching salary BUT the Nuggets do have a $9.72m trade exception from Monte Morris if ownership was willing to dip further into the tax... what is possibly out there that the Nuggets could get for less than $9.7m and available for Bones and a couple second round picks (Denver has a 2023 second rounder that should be in the top 15 of the second round, and their own 24, 25, 26, and 29 seconds)? I'm assuming this player would need to be bigger and better than Christian Braun or it make no sense.
I think they should hold on to Bones unless they can get somebody better than the above and hope somebody like Eric Gordon gets bought out and wants to come.
- Kyle Anderson and Naz Reid for Bones and Ish Smith? Bones gives Minnesota some shooting they need. Anderson would be a sneaky good fit with Jokic and Reid gives them a backup center who should be superfluous with KAT and Gobert.
- Saddiq Bey? A Bones-Bey trade seems reasonably fair straight up. Bones fills a shooting/guard need for Detroit, and Bey is a theoretical 3-D wing (big enough, a decent defender, a decent shooter).
- Kenrich Williams, Nassir Little, the Martin twins, Naji Marshall, Gary Payton, and Kenyon Martin Jr are all guys they'll look at but they are either too old to make too much sense, not good enough defenders, or not good enough shooters.
Also, can they trade 25 and 26 seconds since they are the conditional picks for the protected first now owed to Charlotte? Don't hear much about encumbered 2nds, but not sure how it works.
Regarding the Bryant pickup - I wonder if that was done with the expectation that they are also going to aggregate some of their bench guys. They could pull Ish Smith, Jeff Green, Bones Hyland, and Zeke Nnaji into a trade and get up to like $15m or something of salary back. Buuuuut they don't have much draft capital to trade to sweeten the deal. If they could trade that package to get DFS, I would be pretty pumped.so i don't understand several things here. Not sure if they could give Charlotte enough, but Jalen McDaniels' salary would match. The Nuggets have traded their 25, 26 and 29 2nds plus Davone Reed to the Lakers for Thomas Bryant. Not a bad move, but those 25 and 26 seconds should be encumbered as conditional picks (I even disgustingly posed that question on the NBA strategy stream with Duncan/Leroux and they confirmed). So I wonder if they had to change the protection on the 1st or something or maybe the 2nds are somehow conditional to the Lakers as well.
Secondly, Charlotte is getting 3 seconds to part with Jalen McDaniels. Seems like he would have been a much better target for Denver than Bryant and got a similar return. Maybe the 2nds Charlotte is getting are that much more attractive (combination of PHI and POR) but seems like the Nuggets still could have made it happen.
edit: picks to CHA are a 2029 POR and 2024 NYK
People can ridicule the Nets all they want but what choice did they have?
He's gonna look good on the bench unit with GPII.Yes, FINALLY! Blazers get a guard who can average 2.7 and 1. This is the missing piece!
Why? It's not like they treated these players poorly - and Durant, Irving and Harden are all known problem children, probably even within the player community. They’ll never get a good free agent again.
I like it for Milwaukee (not so much for Boston). He hasn't played yet this year, so will bring a LOT of energy to the court.Shams again:
The Milwaukee Bucks are acquiring Jae Crowder in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets for five second-round picks, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Just imagining that negotiation -
Give us a 1st round pick for Crowder?
No way, two 2nds.
Need more - 8 2nds + Thanasis
Thanasis is untouchable. We can do 4 2nd round picks and a box of brats
Need at least 7 2nds
5?
Done
The Sixers refusal to use him this season baffled me. He was supposed to be some elite lockdown-type defender and he sees his minutes cut in half from last year? Something has been odd there all year.So Thybulle just a salary dump and two 2nds? What a waste of talent. So now House takes his spot in the bench rotation?
Sounds like Ball is Brandon Roy 2.0.DeRozan is IMO the #1 no brainer to sell. And I've not heard any rumors.I would hope the bulls sell off. With all the moves yesterday, will today be quiet?
This is a below .500 team since Lonzo Ball went down. And obviously that's a huge sample size (>100 games) with Ball having missed over a year now. And there's no return in sight for Lonzo. They still don't even know what's wrong with him after a year and over a handful of docs looking at him. Wouldn't be surprised if his career is all but done.
I'd part with him and see what's there in expanded roles for Williams/Ayo/Dalen Terry

They love paying an unreasonable amount of money to failed #2 picks who play center.Bey to the Warriors for Wiseman? I don't really understand that for the Pistons.
Bey to the Warriors for Wiseman? I don't really understand that for the Pistons.
Not too pumped about this.Bones Hyland to Clippers?

Disagree. If they draft Ball then last year never happens in my opinion. The Wiggins trade might not happen and if it does I doubt Wiggins reinvents himself the way he has. I doubt Poole develops into the player he is and if he does it doesn't happen in Golden State and even if I am wrong everything goes exactly the same and you just drop LaMelo on the Warriors they can't sign everyone. Wiggins and or Poole or Klay are gone.Warriors get a bunch of 2nds for Wiseman.
An all-time blunder by them. Melo would have extended both Steph and Klays careers. Just never ever made sense.
McDaniels will take thybulles spotSo Thybulle just a salary dump and two 2nds? What a waste of talent. So now House takes his spot in the bench rotation?
It’s been reported as a multi team dealBey to the Warriors for Wiseman? I don't really understand that for the Pistons.
I think Bey is going to Atlanta.....this is 3 team deal, no?
Me neither. I know things went south with him, but you need that energy guy off the bench. Not too pumped about this.Bones Hyland to Clippers?
Blake with some quality shadeThey didn’t adjust, which has been sort of a thing. No disrespect though
