He technically got some MVP votes in 20-21 and finished 12th in voting."Embiid and Ben are both top 5 players in the NBA"do you guys remember when some philly fans around here tried to sell us that ben simmons was the equal of anteaternintendo because me and pepperidge farms do take that to the bank bromigos
Did someone say Simmons was top 5 or could be? Amazing how he has gone from all-star to barely making it off of the bench. Embiid and the Sixers actually hid his deficiencies for the most part until his full mental breakdown.
I don't think they hid his deficiencies. I think they got worse until that Atlanta series, but there has been some wild take by 76er fans in this thread over the years and one of them was Simmons being an MVP caliber type player.
Real ones remember the Ben Simmons arguments in here. Philly fans were ummm…passionate.
Some other bad ones - Oladipo in 17-18; Duncan (second to last seasons averaged 14/8/3) in 14-15; Goran Dragic, Al Jefferson (with a not-insignificant amount of votes); Ty Lawson and David Lee in 12-13; Stephen Jackson in 09-10.He technically got some MVP votes in 20-21 and finished 12th in voting."Embiid and Ben are both top 5 players in the NBA"do you guys remember when some philly fans around here tried to sell us that ben simmons was the equal of anteaternintendo because me and pepperidge farms do take that to the bank bromigos

So did guys like Joakim Noah during one season.
Somehow once won two straight Eastern Conference Player of the Month. He was really fun in Charlotte.Al Jefferson (with a not-insignificant amount of votes)
And when it involves him; it is 100x worse. Some version of it should be implemented in all games at all levels of basketball. The endgame march to the free throw line is by far the worst part of the game that doesn't involve Ben Simmons.
I think a lot of it was built around the "once he starts to make jumpshots" idea. This was with the assumption that he was psychologically normal and that, being a professional basketball player, he would work on shooting the basketball until he was good at it.I'm not a Simmons lover, but his first three years he averaged 16-8-8 with 2 steals and a 56% eFG%, 3 all-star games, 2 all defense teams, ROY, and an all-NBA team. I don't think you would have been wrong to think he had the potential to be an MVP type player.
Some of us read the reports that he wasn’t willing to take advice or work on his game at all and thought that might be a red flag???I'm not a Simmons lover, but his first three years he averaged 16-8-8 with 2 steals and a 56% eFG%, 3 all-star games, 2 all defense teams, ROY, and an all-NBA team. Well there's that. Certainly by year 3 it was clear he wasn't going to get to that level given that he had failed to make any improvements at all during those years. I'm not sure any player ever has put up 3 seasons that are so statistically identical to one another.I'm not a Simmons lover, but his first three years he averaged 16-8-8 with 2 steals and a 56% eFG%, 3 all-star games, 2 all defense teams, ROY, and an all-NBA team. Nice little story about the Elam ending. I hope the NBA switches to some version of playing to a score for regular season games in the coming years. Or maybe even for that mid-season tournament they’ve been discussing? It’s so obviously an improvement for fans. All the fouling and intentionally dribbling out the clock at the end of games is not as fun as a game winning shot every game.

'Somehow, someway, this concept was going to live': The radical idea that transformed the NBA All-Star Game
Here's the story of the game-changing concept that sparked the new All-Star format, and one man's mission to bring it to basketball's biggest stage.www.espn.com
Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving: “I don’t know who created the term ‘load management.’ … I don’t know who started the narrative but it’s completely run amok. I think it’s dehumanized some of us in terms of the way we prepare ourselves day to day. This is a 24/7 job.”
I hate so much that he's on this team. But...the basketball itself does look much more fun and exciting to watch now.Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving: “I don’t know who created the term ‘load management.’ … I don’t know who started the narrative but it’s completely run amok. I think it’s dehumanized some of us in terms of the way we prepare ourselves day to day. This is a 24/7 job.”
He is delusional.
Incredible.Dumb luck I stumbled into the dunk contest.
McClung is 10/10.
not even sure what he's trying to sayMavericks’ Kyrie Irving: “I don’t know who created the term ‘load management.’ … I don’t know who started the narrative but it’s completely run amok. I think it’s dehumanized some of us in terms of the way we prepare ourselves day to day. This is a 24/7 job.”
I think he just means that playing pro basketball isn't a job you clock in and out of. Just because a guy sits a game out, doesn't mean he isn't working. I also think he is saying it makes them sound like trucks with towing capacity or some machine that just needs the right number of days off to always be peak.not even sure what he's trying to sayMavericks’ Kyrie Irving: “I don’t know who created the term ‘load management.’ … I don’t know who started the narrative but it’s completely run amok. He has been the #1 Twitter trend for the last three hours.Wow McClung

Most impressive thing was that all the dunks were just one attempt. Shame that one of the judges somehow gave him a 49 on one of the dunksHe has been the #1 Twitter trend for the last three hours.Wow McClung

He was already entered in the dunk contest and was going to be in it even if he didn't sign an NBA dealWow McClung
I mean that last one was Vinsanity level.
I just think it is wild that he was G-league and the NBA NEEDED him for the contest so the Sixers had to sign him to a 2-way so that he was technically in the NBA.
Meh, 540's aren't that hard.Dumb luck I stumbled into the dunk contest.

I dunno man, the jump-over-a-guy-DOUBLE-pump-reverse was insane, and the 540 was even more insane. Very unique and difficult stuff.I sort of felt like Trey was better in the final round…
Maybe I became desensitized to Mac.
I have just watched more of the NBA All star game than I have in the last 5 years combined. This is just a slam dunk contest with a few three pointers being taken from the parking lot mixed in.This draft is more entertaining than the game will be. Giannis just tried to draft Ja as a reserve.![]()
I didn't see the draft live, but when I saw the rosters I wondered how LeBron got the top three MVP candidates on his team (Jokic/Embiid/Luka).Giannis is a horrid drafter lol
Jokic was picked second to last. I found that odd.I didn't see the draft live, but when I saw the rosters I wondered how LeBron got the top three MVP candidates on his team (Jokic/Embiid/Luka).Giannis is a horrid drafter lol

Yeah, in the modern AS game format, Jokic isn't especially helpful or flashy. Plus, he's legitimately a little unhappy to be there. All Star game is all about running up and down the court and launching 3’s.Jokic was picked second to last. Yeah makes sense in hindsight. I just figured as a clear top three guy he’d go earlier out of respect. All Star game is all about running up and down the court and launching 3’s.Jokic was picked second to last.
