Wow, just a different guy stepping up every night for Denver.

I think he earned that mantle with his first MVP.So is it fair to say Jokic is the best 2nd round pick in NBA history? Can't believe he didn't go until the 41st pick.
Not Ginobili. He was the second or third guy on those teams I believe.I think he earned that mantle with his first MVP.So is it fair to say Jokic is the best 2nd round pick in NBA history? Can't believe he didn't go until the 41st pick.
Any other guys that either won a MVP award or led their team to a Finals win as the clear cut #1?
We haven't won anything yetHave not jumped on to Twitter yet, but Denver, y'all are out en masse honking horns, right now, right? ... That's what would be happening in SA.
This article mentions some old timers that would have held the title for a while. He was excellent tonight, particularly when Joker went out hurt.Aaron Gordon +29 in a 13-pt win![]()
I change my vote to Dennis Johnson. I put him ahead of any of those other dudes. Rodman, Cheeks, and Alex English should also get some run. And my personal favorite second rounder, the King of the Fourth! This article mentions some old timers that would have held the title for a while. damn right take that to the bank brohanThe bank is open
story of my middle ageseems very focused on injury prevention. My god Porter has little fight in him. Lose ball near his feet and he’s kind of watching it.
Yea that’s where the Bill Simmons Ewing theory came from.It was the asterisk season, 98-99, where the Spurs thumped the Knicks 4-1 in the Finals. This feels similar. That Knicks team was something. Sprewell and Houston.. Ewing too, right? (I should know). Was Kurt Thomas there too, or am I buzzed?
I could be wrong, but isn't that the playoffs the Ewing broke his hand and barely played in the playoffs?
Miami +340 on the money line for game 5, definitely hedge possible.Let’s hope Denver keeps its foot on the gas pedal so I can win my “Denver in 5” bet. I think Miami may steal another game though so maybe I’ll hedge a bit.
Bruce Brown was not good enough to play for the mighty Detroit Pistons who dumped him.Miami +340 on the money line for game 5, definitely hedge possible.Let’s hope Denver keeps its foot on the gas pedal so I can win my “Denver in 5” bet. Bruce Brown doesn't fit for the Pistons timeline so he was traded. The Pistons haven't done a lot right for past 15 years, but trading Brown was the right move. They were never going to resign so they got something for him.
He is a role player and always will be, he would never have played this well for the Pistons because we don't have anyone like Jokic or Murray.
In the NBA you really have to get your stars first and then find role players later because you have to find those role players on the cheap.
caldwell-pope was also drafted by the Pistons if I remember right.Bruce Brown was not good enough to play for the mighty Detroit Pistons who dumped him.Miami +340 on the money line for game 5, definitely hedge possible.Let’s hope Denver keeps its foot on the gas pedal so I can win my “Denver in 5” bet. I know. Just always seem like ex-Pistons, ex-Tigers and ex-Lions are always playing in the title games.
Not to pile on (I grew up a Pistons fan), but the Nuggets have Detroit to thank for luring away Jerami Grant in late 2020.caldwell-pope was also drafted by the Pistons if I remember right.Bruce Brown was not good enough to play for the mighty Detroit Pistons who dumped him.Miami +340 on the money line for game 5, definitely hedge possible.Let’s hope Denver keeps its foot on the gas pedal so I can win my “Denver in 5” bet. Not sure but Jokic is the first ever to record 500+ pts, 250+ rebounds and 150+ assists in a single playoffsHas anyone led the playoffs in points, assists, and rebounds before?
It’s seems hard to come up with any player that could have - but I don’t have the answer.Has anyone led the playoffs in points, assists, and rebounds before?
I found this on reddit (from 5 days ago)Has anyone led the playoffs in points, assists, and rebounds before?
Similar to Wiggins and Holiday in the last couple of finals. Can score and defend multiple positions. Not always expected to be "the guy"aaron gordon aka casper from uncle drew is a great fit for denver he was meant to be a no 3 or 4 guy in a championship team he just creates so many matchup problems take that to the bank brochachos

Denver offered Grant the exact same $60mm deal, but he felt suffocated by Jokic/Murray/MPJ and wanted a much larger scoring role.
Four months later the Nuggets were thankfully able to fill the void with.......Aaron Gordon
Can’t believe the NBA decided to take both Saturday and Sunday off.
That’s kind of crazy. Can’t believe the NBA decided to take both Saturday and Sunday off.
NBA and NHL have both gotten stupid with this taking two days off in between so many games in the finals. Can’t believe the NBA decided to take both Saturday and Sunday off.
It certainly seems like that must be the case, but I’m not sure what changed over the past few years, because Thursday and Sunday used to be staples and I would think that they would still be better than Fridays. Maybe part of it is international viewership. Are ratings worse on the weekends? Seems like they would be.
Jokic now leads in all of those categoriesNo player in the history of the NBA Playoffs has ever led the entire playoffs in Points, Rebounds and Assists.
The closest was 2019-20 LeBron when he was 1st in Rebounds & 1st in Assists but 2nd behind AD in Points (by just 2!).
Jokic is 3rd in Points / 2nd Rebounds / 1st in Assists this year
Reggie Jackson played significant minutes for the Nuggets after being acquired and played very poorly. That is why he is buried on the bench. Whether it's because he's over-the-hill at 32 or simply never integrated to their style is an open question.I was listening to the Sirius XM radio channel while driving this weekend and a couple dudes were discussing the Heat vs Nuggets series. One of the dudes was talking about the talent gap and the depth of the Nuggets versus that of the Heat. The other dude was trying to argue that the “talent gap“ and depth between the two teams was being over exaggerated. The dude making the claim then made a point that I feel is very valid—and frankly— I had never thought of it. One of the players that the Nuggets have on their bench that basically never or seldom gets on the court is Reggie Jackson. He would/could arguably be a starter for the Heat in this series (with Herro hurt).
Reggie Jackson orchestrated a Clipper team into relevance even with its superstars being injured not that long ago. Aaron Gordon was the best player on the Magic for a year or two before joining the Nuggets. Gordon is asked to be a third or fourth option by the Nuggets, and Reggie Jackson is buried on the bench. If that doesn’t show that a roster is talented and deep—I’m not sure what does.
