2022 FBG, 172 to 1 Beatles Countdown 1-25 lists... And 173 to 1 Countdown from 1-64 lists! (2 Viewers)

Who are you to say I wasn't sorry?

I hate being rude, and I was sorry I had to call him out in front of all of you.

At that time he had no problem finding Baker Mayfield and Colin Kap threads in the Shark pool.

He also was one of two in this thread at the beginning to ask me to create a song list with links in the op.   So he knew more than most here how to find something quickly.

Yep, it's my fault he's being lazy. I'm just not one to enable lazy behavior. So my options left were to ignore it or answer the way I did.  Oh well. Put it all.on me.

I appreciate you sending in your list and following along here.

I'm not a fan of Clapton either, but that was not nearly as bad as the one person that kept trying to bait people in here to get into arguments and derailed the thread for almost two days towards the end . He also tried to do this at the beginning of the thread. He attacked Guido both times and I think it led to to him commenting less.  I do appreciate the 3 or 4 others the second round that didn't fall for his bait. One person called him out for that. Why didn't anyone else?

Oh, never mind, just carry on as you say....
Was this Billy Preston-gate? I think most of us decided that nothing from nothing leaves nothing.

In my experience, starting a sentence by saying you are sorry for what you are about to do or say means you really aren't, otherwise you wouldn't do or say it. As I pointed out, you could have used the same or fewer words and the same or less level of effort to just post a pointer, as you did in your next post.

Also, you didn't "have to call him out." If you didn't have time to give him the answer he asked for, you could have not responded at all. You even acknowledge that here.

@Anarchy99 is a great poster here. As far as I know, so are you. So, to quote Joe, "be excellent." Your two posts I quoted were not.

We have enough lousy posters and trolls around here that we don't need good posters treating other good posters rudely/poorly. And I know I have done it myself far too many times, so I'm aware it can be challenging to avoid. Maybe I did that here and should have been more diplomatic.

Thanks, and thanks for all of the effort you put into it. These recent artist-based song ranking threads have been very enjoyable.

I was one of the chalkiest, and, honestly, the Beatles are not among my favorites, which is probably why. But I enjoyed the thread, and will continue to follow.

I guess I must have glossed over this, since I'm not sure who you are talking about. Unfortunately, I am super busy at work, so I haven't been able to read all posts completely and caught up with about the last two weeks' worth today. I have focused on writeups of the songs I like the most and the comments on those. Regardless, I agree that sounds like someone who should ideally be run out of the thread.

---

Appreciate the exchange. I will continue to follow the thread, and I thank you for your efforts involved in it and other related threads.
I really appreciate your response and the time you put into it.

All I can say is this....  It's my experience knowing me that If I say something, that's what I mean. I see and get your point, but for me, just not the case.   No one that knows me well would call me a word mixer LOL.

I've been here 15 years. My only timeout is because a poster repeatedly kept putting words in mouth I never said. I then called him out for it and didn't care if I got a TO for it. A'99 is a great poster, but I've seen him call out posters. I don't think any of us are squeaky clean here.

I also want to say it's impossible for anyone that posts here to have 100% of what they write be clearly interpreted the exact way they meant it by others. None of us (Binky does) have enough time to write every post with perfect clarity.

Thanks for all your kind words about the thread. I very much appreciate them and I'm very grateful to all that made this thread very good so we could honor K4's work from 2019.

I'll try and ignore it next time for sure...  It'll be hard though, I've spent the last 45 years running business' where I answer everything the second I see it.

Don't think you glossed over any posts.   I think an admin deleted them

Looks like that pesky Rocky Raccoon was the song that cost you in the Chalk race. Any interesting story as to why you had it in your top 25?

No great story. It has always been one of my favorites. I figured it would help me avoid being the chalk leader, which was a bonus.

So starting to see the "smoothing" of a few songs that people likely had in their #30-45 range.   Those songs are getting 20-45 composite points and you can see it making a difference now.

Also seeing songs that people felt a lot of pressure to include in their Top 25 before not getting those points this time.

Kinda like, "I HAVE to include that in the top 25!"....  and this time not feeling the pressure to do so because it will land in their top 40 or 50.   Hope that made (Binky didn't) sense.

I stopped my "on today's date" posts after the incident, but I wanted to note this special date in George Harrison history, since we have so many George fans (Binky:  Clapton fans) here.

It was twenty thirty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play a mustached and mulleted George performed for the first time in the UK since the band broke up, with a show at London's Royal Albert Hall.  Sadly it also became George's final full-length performance.  No professional video has yet surfaced, so we have to rely on mishmoshs of amateur videos such as this one, but by all accounts George was in excellent form and happily surprised by the crowd's overwhelming reaction.  Highlights include Gary Moore guitar solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," 13-year-old Dhani Harrison joining his ol' pops on guitar at the end, and Ringo handling drums for a few songs.  :)

Sadly, now we'll never really know how many holes need to be filled there. :kicksrock:

This reminds me of some new Beatles shtick I used on our current road trip.

Wife is driving and sees some big tractor like digging rig scooping up some dirt.  She blurts out I wonder what they are doing there?

I go right into singing They're fixing a hole where the rain gets in.

She's not a huge Beatles fan.  Doesn't get it.   I laugh inside.

She didn't "Dig it"?

I have it on good authority that the following people who submitted top 25 lists haven't submitted for the top 64, which is OK if you're busy or not interested or spending all your time on your favorite Clapton songs!  But if you want to submit, we'd love to have you, and if you need more time, I know a guy who might be willing to work with you on that.  Just let us know!

How was the steak restaurant in Chicago, and how did your daughter think the interview went?

The odds for the scholarship are very small - 500 kids for 15 scholarships. She thought she did ok - and understands the competition is strong.

The steak place was awesome and they set us up nicely in a private booth with a direct kitchen view.  We did the 45 day aged ribeyes, shared the burrata, some great sides - whipped potatoes, wild mushrooms and  (creamed corn brulee) and of course ... a couple martinis for us.

Wait what’s going on? I’ve been crazy busy negotiating our next union contract but I certainly could find time this weekend. Are we ranking Beatles albums? Post them here? DM someone?
