2022 Las Vegas Raiders (4 Viewers)

Just coming in to post.

Raiders place T Brandon Parker, DT Tyler Lancaster and LB Tae Davis on IR so they are not eligible to be activated off IR this season. Raiders also waive TE Nick Bowers and WR Justin Hall.

I think waiting on Parker to IR was gamemanship on the part of Zeigler. Not a huge thing but it does make other teams question what the expected moves will be. There was no other reason in waiting to put Parker on other than *possibly* they were waiting for medical reasons which is doubtful. I was basically expected he was out for the year when the injury happened. You either know a guy is done or not and you are not going to burn a roster spot for Parker to play late in the season when he isn't exactly a stud player you can rely on.
Plenty of reasons why you wait. If you have someone you think you can roll the dice on cutting so they can IR Parker then re-sign the player you could wait for final cuts. Parker would then be eligible to return after 4 games. They could also have been getting another medical opinion and just got the results. They might have been on the fence about cutting a bubble guy like ALW or maybe the UDFA rookie and decided not to which left no seat for Parker.

Now, while everyone is starting to make their cuts down to the final 53, will be very telling for what the Raiders really think about their current starting five, +depth, on the offensive line.

The only one that makes sense to me is they thought about cutting someone and hope that they were there to resign once they put Parker on IR. I just don't see Parker as that valuable that they would roll the dice on anyone they liked on a team like this that there will be a lot of hard cuts made. Parker has experience so yes, you keep him around unless there is someone clearly better but Parker was seriously playing worse than anyone... including Leatherwood... until he got injured.

The team waiting to make a move until later falls more in line with the NE way of thinking that you give no info out about anything unless you absolutely need to.

I will be very interested to see if they pick up an OT that gets cut. I think the interior is set to be ok but that RT spot... I think they will be watching the waiver wire for sure on anyone that might be of value. Parker is on IR now and gone for the year. Munford is hurt (unsure how badly, I can't seem to find any good info on that) and then you have Leatherwood and Eluemanor with Bars as being the guys able to play at all.

I love Eluemunor's harsh talk about his previous shape/performance. Really rooting for him.
In terms of a new RT, teams don't cut them. Teams don't have them. We aren't alone on this. There's like 6 good ones. The Bengals went to the Super Bowl with two guys that couldn't start for us.
It's either trade for a guy, Isaiah Wynn, or that guy in Chicago, Teven whatever, or sign some vet who was waiting around, I don't even know if there are any of them this year.

Raiders signed Eluemunor last year after he was cut.

Ravens potentially signing Drake is great news. Whatever they sign him for would offset the 2022 dead cap hit the Raiders took on a dollar-for-dollar basis. Vet min is ~$1 MM, so that would be the least Raiders could expect to recoup.

Also of note, the Raiders could've cut Parker, rather than putting him on IR and they would've saved $866k in cap and cash. Instead they chose to IR him and pay him his full 2022 (one year) deal. Classy move, which I hope resonates with the players.

I believe Wynn has only been a LT and on his last year of contract. Hard to trade for that to fill a RT need and potentially only rent.

Rumblings of leatherwood being cut. Thx grudock!
If true, my $20 fictitious bar bets would’ve cost me dearly. I don’t understand how an Outland Award winning O-lineman can’t find a place on this squad in need of both starters and depth. Work ethic? Attitude? Lack of football IQ to pick up what’s being asked of him? I hope this rumor is false but, man, did Gruden and Mayock have a CRAPPY record for their 1st rounders. Ugh.

Being reported they shopped him to 31 teams with no takers.

Gruden sucked worse than even his worse detractors claimed.
Cant wait til the regular season starts, our team is playing really well (🤞🤞🤞) and this gets lost in the fog of the preseason.

Treyvon Mullen was traded for pocket lint today, reinforcing your point.
I had not heard this WTF?

Apparently a conditional 7th from the Cardinals that can upgrade to a 6th.

Weren't we all thinking this guy was going to be a starter?

Is there verification of this trade?

This is more surprising than Leatherwood being sent packing IMO.

Both were surprising. But neither was shocking, especially in hindsight. ALW was awful at OT and bad at OG, even against preseason scrubs - they clearly don't think he can even be a project, and/or don't have the patience to deal with one. Mullen has been constantly hurt since early last year and both Sam Webb and Bryce Cosby played really well this preseason. Will be interesting to see if Amik Robertson beats one of them out for the 53. Clearly there are zero scholarships (or ****s) being handed out for Grudock players.

What's nice to see is that all of this year's draft class (except for Neil Farrell) have looked decent/good. What's even nicer is that there are several UDFAs that rocked it in camp/preseason and are in serious contention to make the 53. The glass doesn't look empty at all, even with a bunch of scholarships being shredded.

Also want to add, I hope all these unexpected roster spots mean Brittain Brown will be kept on the 53. That kid can play and won't make it to the PS, IMO. This won't be popular, but I think he has better long-term potential than Zamir - BB has displayed better vision and elusiveness by far this preseason, though I/we need to discount that some given the opponents they've each played against.

Hey, you want to read a list of the failed Gruyock regime, followed by NFL media absolving Mayock?? Head over to Twitter!
I would love to have been a fly on the wall to REALLY know who had the final say on these critical (failed) picks. So I can direct my ire in the right direction ;)
Final say for early picks has to be Gruden. But for Leatherwood, this was a Cable guy. They hit on Miller and missed on Leatherwood. Pretty much exact same situations...great physical tools with questionable technique picked up way earlier than pretty much anyone expected... one that has panned out and one that has not (at least with the Raiders).

Also, lost in the shuffle of cut-down day are rumblings that Waller is about to hire Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent. That is NOT good news. ****en Rosenhaus has been a thorn for the Raiders for years now, including being a prime contributor to the Khalil Mack saga. Supposedly, Waller wants to be the highest-paid TE in the league - this coming off a **** season, approaching his 30s, with two years still left on his current deal. WTF, if true.

Don't be shocked if Waller Baller is dealt today or very soon.

This is crazy to me based on what we saw before getting hurt.... then.... not so much considering there has been nothing about any buzz on him coming out of camp or preseason. It is shocking that all we could get was a 7th that can be a 6th for him.

I saw reports that they were working on the deal currently.

Whenever somebody says, "this GM sucks, I could do better" I feel like its usually hyperbole, but boy looking back at this Mayock/Gruden era, I 100% think I, and probably almost anyone could have done better, especially in round 1. 6 1st round picks, and they ended up with:

2019: Clelin Ferrell (bust) Josh Jacobs (good but not great RB) Jonathan Abram (below average Safety) all had 5th year option declined
2020: Henry Ruggs (looked ok, at times) Damon Arnette (was awful) both cut due to off field issues
2021: Alex Leatherwood (awful) cut after 1 year

I'm not sure a team has ever gotten less out of 6 consecutive 1st round picks. Every single one was reach at the time other than maybe Ruggs.

I believe Abram was not seen as a reach but the rest were.
Ruggs was considered a reach as Lamb and Jeudy were still on the board but not a reach in terms of where he was taken.

From what I saw in the preseason and I focused on the OL on every play, ALW’s effort wasn’t there. Especially for a dude that must have known his place wasn’t secure. I have a feeling he thought he couldn’t/wouldn’t be cut. Arrogance is dangerous. Hope they find a decent dude for some OL depth.

We did get some real playmakers tho, but ya ,im dying to see what this staff can do with a 1st and 2nd rd pick

I hate these moves. They feel like spite moves. Unless ALW and Mullen are literally flinging poo or lighting the locker room on fire you don't just piss away assets like this. We don't have enough talent to be making message moves, we need to be coaching guys up and getting the most out of them.

Hate it.

If we keep getting Davante Adams level players brought in I'm just fine with never finding out.

I kind of feel this way a bit, but not to this extent. Feels a lot like just getting rid of guys because they were part of the last regime. Many new regimes do this though. Leatherwood was a big reach at 17 and I hated the pick at the time, but he was an Outland trophy winner and definitely had some talent. I would have liked to have seen him given a year of coaching with this staff.

If they are assets, they will make their mark elsewhere. Mullen with two surgeries on the same foot,

It is hard for me to believe that Mullen was being outplayed by others on the roster for even a backup role. I am willing to give the leadership of the team the benefit of the doubt though and let them make their decisions as they see fit. I feel like Mullen will be a player in this league for other teams. Not so sure about Leatherwood.

The way I see it is McDaniels and Ziegler are building off of what Gruden did right, and ripping the band aid off of where they feel Gruden screwed up.

Anyone else shocked Cle is still on the roster?
