My thinking on Byars being more universally beloved among the fanbase than Randall is the "could do no wrong" test. Byars was a hard-nosed grinder that had the "blue-collar" work ethic the city and its fans love. If he fumbled in a big spot, all would be forgiven because of the sweat equity he had built up by doing the dirty work on short yardage runs or trucking over linebackers after catching a pass in the flat. His effort was never questioned.Great lists. I’d put Randall ahead of Byars but the rest is spot on
Meanwhile, Randall had numerous "prima donna" moments and controversies that left many fans questioning his commitment and attitude, and if he made a bone-headed play or committed a costly error, the fans would let him have it. The passage of time and nostalgia have certainly helped his legacy, but there's still a not-insignificant pocket of the fan base that think he was more frustrating and disappointing in his time here, than an all-time great. Similarly, that's why I wouldn't put McNabb up there.
Just last week was a great example of the "could do no wrong" test. Kelce probably had his worst game of the year at the absolute worst time to have it, but he's not catching a single stray from the many frustrations that came out of that game. And look at Foles, who has proven to be unsuccessful at every other stop in his career and is 4+ years removed from his last bit of NFL success, yet in 5 minutes you could find 100 fans in the lots tomorrow wholly convinced he could/should replace Minshew

. And for the record that makes TWO years in a row as the prediction champ :takesbow:
