We are the in the first week of the season and we are already getting the playoffs hot takes and in the wrong thread.

We are just bored waiting for picks. I have zero interest in NBA debates. Almost as bad as arguing politics. I already regret I got sucked into the one.

3.15 Trey Murphy F $3,359,280

If he hadn't torn his meniscus a couple months ago, he would have been picked by now. It's hard to find long shooters that can really get up lots of threes and also defend. He's not a lockdown defender type, he's more capable and versatile than flat out great so he may be my 6th man rather than a starting wing. Regardless, he puts up about 10 threes per 100 possessions (Doncic and Curry put up about 12) and makes them at a 40% clip, and he led the Pels in WS by a large margin with 7.6 win shares last year. He'll look remarkably like the Nuggets' starting SF in this lineup for 10% the cost.

Not sure anybody's star has fallen quite as hard as his since the playoffs started - he was 2nd Team All-NBA last year and makes a very reasonable salary.

I considered him last pick. There is alot to love about JB imo. Part of my frustrations with Tatum is that I feel that he really holds JB (and others) back with his selfish play. Like his idol, he just doesn't make others better. If Jab doesn't get his in transition, he is usually reduced to standing behind the 3pt line just waiting for the ball. Too often it comes with just a couple of second left on the shot clock. I would love to see JB on a different team or at least on a different team than Tatum to see him unlock his full potential. JB's salary jumps to over 50 next year and he was REALLY bad at the end of the playoffs last year. But that wasn't all his fault imo.

I meant now that it's "his team" like he wanted. He had a couple of big games in that run but it's not like he led them to the finals, lol. People are saying right now he is a top five guy. He has his big three players, his cash, and his coach. So now he needs to show everyone he is one of the top players in the NBA, not just a potential guy or piece. No excuses imo.

Overall, well I'm sure more teams and way higher cap is also part of it, my take on value vs wtf picks is that this year's draft is way more competitive I felt like I was basically getting easy fantastic options at every pick last year and this year is way more talent going early, even with some of the slips for contract value.

e.g., I really kind of expected to get Paul George in the 5th or 6th at his massive $ amount - and many others going close to where I'd have put them, but thought they'd fall based on last year.
