Forgot about the edible I ate an hour ago. Cool.

Kareem is in the house. Bad ***.
Kareem was there wearing a "Kareem vs Bruce" shirt with a drawn image of himself and Bruce Lee kicking toward each other in battle. 😂 Legend.

I'm already beyond over the announcers calling him Wemby
Seeing as mark jones is pulling a muscle every time he tries to say his whole last name, Wemby might be for the best
Mark Jones did work in a "NBA stands for never broke again" line during the 1st half. 😆

That loooooong loopy dribble of his…I just don’t know. That’s going to get picked a lot. Going to be interesting to see how he does. People are going to try to dunk on his head nightly.

Great game-winning shot by Jabari Smith. I like his game, hopefully he can take that next step in year 2. Good start tonight.

Now, let the Victor Wembanyama debut begin! *

* and the player Michael Jordan took ahead of Scoot Henderson.
Scoot Henderson can be this drafts Michael Jordan, karmically balancing out Portland’s Sam Bowie

I was impressed with what I saw from Amen as well. Great vision, nice motor and some nifty passes. I think this team is going to be much improved under Udoka, maybe even beat Minnesota in a play in game.

I know it’s what we do here but I think it might be a little early to judge Wemby since he was playing with guys he met an hour before game time and with a team that only had two plays on offense for the whole game.

That said, it’s never too early to start hearing MVP chants for Max Christie.

OK, I’m wrong. Britney fans destroying Wemby online has been pretty funny tonight.

Obviously nobody serious is judging after 1 game, but I'm guessing Victor is probably already rethinking his "I don't need to get bigger" comments from a few weeks ago.

Any physical contact at all completely stopped his momentum and made him turn his back to the basket.

And yeah, you do wonder if at some point, you're just too tall and long to beat NBA athletes off the bounce with fancy dribble moves. The ball has LONG way to go when he tries to cross people over.

as wade and lebron were similar position players

I don't see this at all. Wade is a SG. Lebron is a SF/PF and "point forward". I wouldn't see them as particularly similar at all from a positional or skill set standpoint, other than that both were elite scorers.
Correct, but they were also both "on the ball" players. The first year they played well, but it was an uneven season as they started 9-8. Spo really didn't "figure them out" until after the loss to Dallas.

Britney spears has fans?
I am still not sure what really happened there, but as someone who was huge for years and have to have had her own security detail, you would think she'd know better than to run up on someone with security and make contact in any way (even if it was just a tap on the shoulder). The security guys, who are going to have no idea what someone's intention is who does something like that, are naturally going to protect the client quickly and aggressively; that is what they are paid to do.

Have you seen the video? It's a big nothing-burger.

Brittney taps him from behind, security swats her arm away, and her own arm hits her in the face.

And then she calls the police and puts out a dramatic statement on her IG. She is not mentally stable at all right now. Go look at all of her recent posts.

Paul Reed signs offer sheet with Utah. Philly has until noon tomorrow to match or let him go.
Woj: One of the terms of the offer sheet provides a unique twist: The first season of the contract is fully guaranteed and the two following become guaranteed for $15.7 million if Reed’s team advances to conference semi-finals in the 2023-24 season, sources said.

That was an awesome way to make it less likely Sixers match. Although with all the role players they keep losing, is it as likely the Sixers make it to the second round this year anyway?

Neil Olshay set the Blazers back by refusing to part with CJ to get Dame some help. He also botched the draft by taking more guards and he really really really thought Zach Collins was the missing ingredient. Olshay was stubborn, combative and will probably never get another NBA job again. He also made horrendous FA signings and gave big money to jokes like Myers Lemon and Alan Crabbs. Joe Cronin has had to clean up his mess and now is in a Mexican standoff with an agent and player who are way above his depth.

And add to the fun rudderless ownership that is in no hurry to sell the team to a group that cares. Jody Allen sucks. She should be in jail for sexual harassment but we have different systems of justice for billionaires.

This is a mess. Nothing is going to happen today or tomorrow except growing frustration and building resentment. Fans are already fatigued and I don't expect many butts in seats this season. Especially now that Scoot is damaged goods apparently. In less than two months, the Ducks and Beavers will take all the attention away from basketball here.

Best we can hope for is a 19 win season and a shot at the #1 pick. By then, perhaps Jodi will agree to sell and Phil Knight is the buyer. A good owner helps so much. An owner who cares and leads. Until then, expect ambivalence from us.

Chet at +470 for ROY is a great bet. Having that gap year is huge even though he was hurt, he's not even a real rookie. Wemby might not play enough and Chet will probably just be better this first year anyways

Thunder fans are practically frothing at the mouth

They could be rostering an entire team of first round picks in a few years.

@spotrac
Upcoming #OKCThunder Draft Picks

2024 - 3 1sts (2 unprotected) 2 2nds
2025 - 3 1sts 3 2nds
2026 - 3 1sts (2 unprotected) 1 2nd
2027 - 2 1sts (1 unprotected) 3 2nds
2028 - 1 1st 2 2nds
2029 - 2 1sts 6 2nds
2030 - 1 1st 3 2nds
They’re going to need nfl-sized 53 man rosters. They currently have 22 players on their roster.

I like that bet. Just hoping we get a full year from him.

Solely based on last night, Amen at +2900 seems like a nice long shot even with FVV. Sure his odds have increased though.

Dame, Clyde and Walton are all in the running for best Blazer of all time. Not going to rank them but.....

Brandon Roy deserves a seat at the table. If we're going to bring up Walton's injuries and "coulda beens" then we for sure need to bring Roy into this conversation. He was a ****ing badasssssss who gave Portland everything he had until he broke beyond repair. He sunk into major depression over it. That guy will always be my favorite Blazer and I love Dame. But Roy was the leader this team needed and gave the city all that he had. Love him.
