Starting to get a little concerned that Golden State's 2024 1st rounder will get that top 4 lottery protection now. This team is going to be awful. When do they start unloading their stars? Or is it too late?
Maybe some team thinks Moody or Kuminga might flourish somewhere else but everyone else besides Curry is on a bad contract.

Indefinitely seems like cowardice from the NBA to me unless there is real teeth. If you really mean a long suspension, then suspend him for 30 games and be done with it.

Saying it’s “indefinite” and that he has to “meet certain team and league conditions” just reeks of trying to make it seem more severe than it actually will be in practice.

Like he’ll take an anger management class, sit out 5-10 games and the league will reinstate him after he meets with Silver and Silver tells us all that he’s convinced Green is remorseful and really truly changed this time.

Agreed. Morant duped them with that last year and he was back pretty quickly, albeit his issue was very different.

It'll take something special this year to finish bottom four in the league

That's true. Detroit, Washington, Charlotte, San Antonio and Portland are a nice cushion for the inevitable free fall of Golden State.

But man, Blazers with 2 picks in the top 10 next year? That's a real possibility. :feast:

There's been a lot of overreaction here over the last page or two. My guess is Draymond gets let back in sometime in January. Assuming a healthy Curry, the Warriors are a play-in team at best which was pretty much the case two days ago. It's not a good team by any means but they have a higher floor than a bunch of teams this year.

Klay's contract comes off the books next year but they'll still be over the second apron which will limit their flexibility. They don't have any draft picks in the near term but have protected their assets for the post-Steph era. Things were always going to get ugly around mid-decade. I don't think Green losing his mind changes that to any great degree.

So I guess things got chippy enough in the Bucks-Pacers game tonight that the Pacers took the game ball with them off the court an Giannis went to their locker room to get it from them (franchise and career high game).

Video:

The Pacers wanted the game ball for Oscar Tshiebwe who scored his first NBA points

I thought you were joking, but it sounds like that’s what actually happened.

ETA - lol, the guy only scored 1 point in the game

Giannis never won College Player of the Year though

Reminds me of the Bulls' Stacey King quote after Michael Jordan scored 69 points in a game, "I'll always remember this as the night that Michael Jordan and I combined to score 70 points."

I hope he’s gone for the year. Playoffs included. The act is tired. The players association needs to protect the other players in the league.

The union cares more about money and protecting the players' money, and the longer Green is out, the more money he loses, so they will be more on his side in this scenario.

What about the money for the players he keeps belting.

What he needs is to get his *** kicked. Loves cheap shotting white dudes. And wimps like Poole. Bet he wouldn’t fight Ben Wallace.

Well yeah, he's the kid in school who picked on the smaller kids because he could, but would never mess with the tough guys. Green is a fake tough guy. He doesn't go after the tougher more rugged guys because he knows he would look weak.

Sixers blow out another team that they are supposed to blow out. It is nice to see a team that doesn't play down to its competition (unlike my Steelers lately and prior Sixers teams).

everyone is going to realize how important this was when tshiebwe eventually becomes the all-time nba rebound leader.

Dumb question probably but is there really just one “game ball“ in an NBA basketball game? I think in a football or baseball game, they pull the milestone ball out of play after the record is broken. This entire episode is pretty silly imo but some are taking it extremely seriously. Giannis charging around the court and into / out of the tunnel was funny. I’m a massive Bucks fan but have to admit his schtick is getting old for me. It’s the most unpopular of unpopular opinions around here - even in safe company it’s pretty hard for me to openly talk about what a clown he is at times because he’s so untouchable here locally. Maybe I’ll do a longer post about him sometime but the guy is really a diva imo and not at all likable as a player for me.

I don't know that anybody was tracking or caring about his personal career high or the Bucks' record necessarily though. Not sure that they should have cared.

I guess I was thinking when Tshiebwe sank his free throw maybe that was the time to secure that specific ball? Its really just all a dumb episode for me and I think we're all much dumber for it happening. It is a point of interest for me though whether NBA games use just one specific "game ball" - apart from the larger question as to why anyone cares.

I don’t know the answer but unlike football and baseball, where weather and wear and tear affect the balls, I don’t see any reason why they’d ever need to switch the basketball out during a game.

This just happened the other night in a Celtics game. The ball went into the stands and beer got spilled on it. Since half the ball was wet and the other side dry, even wiping it off it didn't feel right and they switched balls. Another instance would be if blood got on the ball. It doesn't happen a lot, but it happens.

Horrible take (yes, I'm a Milwaukee Bucks fan, so dismiss if you like).

In a sports world filled with all types of unlikeable players, Giannis is a rock that stands for all the right things. If you have a problem with Giannis, something tells me you'd eventually have a problem with any and all professional athletes that reach a certain amount of achievement. He pushes for the team to spend money, or roster moves, etc? That's not a diva, that's a professional athlete that wants to win more than anything and he knows his value.

There's a reason Giannis is beloved locally (and around the world). Because he and his family have been here a decade and they've had hundreds of thousands of interactions with people in all walks of life in all manner of situations ...and they're legit. What you typically see in the media is exactly how they are without the cameras around.

1) Oscar Tshiebwe won college player of the year at Kentucky, he has plenty of trophies, basketballs, etc
2) He scored in the NBA in-season tournament final (but those stats don't 'officially' count).
3) He hit a free throw, not even a bucket. Just keep the game ball from when he eventually hits a shot.
4) His team got their asses kicked. Keep the ball from a loss when you scored 1 free throw in garbage time? lol
5) An all-time great player just put up a franchise scoring record. Significance of accomplishment (and player) matters here.

The Pacers made Bobby's eyes pop out last night with a hard foul on Giannis. Now some post-game non-sense where the players were yelling to keep the ball (see clip below)? Good luck next game Indiana, you're gonna need it. Hope they face off in the playoffs now.

OK, but did anybody on the Pacers even know this was some "great achievement" and that Giannis wanted the ball? Or did he just flip out after the fact?

haliburton is a hell of a guy and super nice and just a decent human i know this because from personal experience which is crazy to say and this is a bad look for him up here in wisconsin just no reason to be petty like that its stupid take that to the bank bromigos

I wonder if it was just good :stirspot:by the Pacers.

My perspective is that I live in MKE and attend a dozen or so games a year and have been a Bucks fan my entire life. I'm well familiar with the adoration and the image he projects, although admit I've not yet watched his movie. Of course I love the guy as a player but his act is wearing thin. I can't go through all of it now but a microcosm is his response to Eric Nehm in the postgame last year after losing to the Heat. Like many of his post-game comments, the response went viral and he was widely lauded for giving such a thoughtful and mature response - when he attacked the reporter and asked whether the reporter got a promotion or not and whether he is able to support his family. Having the best record in the NBA and losing to the 8th seeded Heat in 5 games as the top seed was an unmitigated failure no matter how Giannis wants to spin that term. The coach was fired and we shipped off one of the most beloved players and two truly great members of the community in Jrue and Lauren Holiday. For me its adding up - the whole free throw routine where he demands special treatment and makes the referee and everyone in the stadium wait for him, the ridiculous "mean-mugging" thing he does, the hilarious ladder episode last season where he expected the stadium staff in Philadelphia to just wait for him to take free throw practice on their floor after a game. ( lofl ) I'm old school so I prefer athletes who do their job without the need to be treated like royalty.

Did Haliburton do something last night? I saw him out on the court post-game talking to the Bucks and other staff as everyone was charging around - wasn't aware he had any roll in gameball-gate.

oh hes the leader of that team and a budding superstar he should have just gone in and gotten the ball for anteater and he was definitely in the mix on it all look at the video again is all i am saying and having his teammates obviously taking the ball to screw with giannis is not a good look take that to the bank bromigo

Did they TAKE the ball AFTER he asked for it. OR, did he want it, realize it was gone, and then go ballistic running to the locker room, and the Pacers found it hilarious so they said to not give it to him? I am confused over the order of events.

I'm not sure either but it's a hilarious subplot to the NBA season
