Far more interesting than wading through insipid updates on the defensive prowess of the Detroit PistonsI know the season is early, but this best play of the year so far is going to get old.
i've been listening to a few basketball podcasts and hearing lots of talk about how teams are no good, players can't play, no way a team can continue like this.... 2 games in to the season.I know the season is early, but this best play of the year so far is going to get old.

sports media is absolute garbage
Things looking grisly for the grizzliesWizards seem greatly helped by Tyus Jones of all people. Nice to have a PG to distribute even if he's just another guy and will only get 6 assists a night and we will still suck. At least it's watchable. Better than Beal dribbling in circles before handing it to the other jersey.
It's still just October. Maybe if enough Detroiters write to Santa he might bring an actual franchise to the city for Christmas. Then you too might have highlights worthy of sharing.BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR SO FAR!Far more interesting than wading through insipid updates on the defensive prowess of the Detroit PistonsI know the season is early, but this best play of the year so far is going to get old.

HOT TAKE
Toumani Camara will be the consequential element Of the Jrue Holiday trade
Edit: and someday his name won’t be autocorrected 78 times before I can get it right
I guess so you can lose by less?HOT TAKE

He's already the Blazers best 3 point shooter.
If only Portland could play Philadelphia every game.

Javale McGee is 35 and still plays with the same awe inspiring size and athleticism and astonishingly low BBIQ that he did 13 years ago. Pretty wild.

What's up with Lyles? He'd have been perfect in that small-ball lineup.
I figure the Bucks and Celtics will both have some growing pains with all of the changes they've made. Lillard isn't going to play other-wordly every night out and coaching and playing with Giannis is likely very different than anything you would experience on another team.well the bucks looked like a garbage fire last night still trying to figure it out i suspect take that to the bank brohans

So far Porzingis is better than I expected. Between his injuries and then being stuck in the purgatory of Washington, I don't think I had watched him play a full game in a couple of years. I've been especially impressed with his rim protection.I figure the Bucks and Celtics will both have some growing pains with all of the changes they've made. The Celtics starting 5 is something to marvel at. Much more balanced than the Bucks. Lets see if Porzingis can stay healthy.
Jackson hasn't mysteriously gotten better from last year - he is 33 years old.I think the Nuggets might be significantly improved from last season. We all knew the starters were going to be great but the bench was a big question mark. Turns out, the bench might be a strength, not a weakness. If Jackson/Braun/Watson/Nnaji all continue to play this well, the Nuggets could get 65 wins this year.

Braun is shooting 14% from three
Nnaji is playing same # of minutes from last year but is scoring fewer points and only grabbing 1 rebound a game
Watson does look better though

Jerkface.
These offensive stats are meaningless. The strength of the Nuggets' bench play has been swarming defense and infusion of energy while the starters rest.Jackson hasn't mysteriously gotten better from last year - he is 33 years old.I think the Nuggets might be significantly improved from last season. That's what they're in there for and what was lacking the entirety of last year until just before the playoffs.
Jackson may have mysteriously gotten better from last year - I don't think the 3pt% will maintain but the rest of his game is sustainable if he keeps avoiding the unnecessarily bad shots that have plagued his entire career. A better shot diet for players has been a staple of Jokic-ball - see Bruce Brown last year, Aaron Gordon a couple years before that.Jackson hasn't mysteriously gotten better from last year - he is 33 years old.I think the Nuggets might be significantly improved from last season. I think they wanted it done before their marquee Christmas games. The group games are every Tuesday and Friday game in the month of November.I thought the in-season tournament thing was going to start like, mid-season. Not the second week. Seems odd?
Meanwhile the Pistons and their defensive prowess are 3-0 against the spread with the healthiest ATS +/- in the Association.
He was great for us last year. But players don't get noticed when they play for bad teams, and much less if it's the one in Washington. So far Porzingis is better than I expected. The Celtics are setting themselves up similarly to recent seasons. Overplay the starters, who will wear down by the playoffs when they need to be a lot fresher than they were in their last playoff runs. On top of that, that limits the development of the bench / nonstarters. Right now, they have Al as the bench big man, Pritchard as the extra guard, and Hauser as a shooting wing. Brissett has gotten some minutes as well, but he really hasn't done much offensively. So far Porzingis is better than I expected. And nowhere near the athlete. Porzingis isn't a stiff, but he was never especially mobile laterally (although probably a little better shooter). Wemby is an athletic specimen that the NBA has never quite seen at this sort of height. So far Porzingis is better than I expected. I always loved Porzingis's game. He could have been Wembanyama 8 years ago, but he was a little immature and injury prone. It looks like he has grown up a little and hopefully he can stay healthy.

The Pistons were a bad opening half away from being 3 - 0. Baby steps.
I feel like Tatum, Brown and White are still young enough and are strong enough to play big minutes all year long. But Jrue, KP & Horford are all on the wrong side of 30 and won't hold up well under 35 mpg for 70+ games. The Celtics are setting themselves up similarly to recent seasons. The non-starters have averaged a net rating of -30 points per 100 possessions so far. Check out these PER numbers (league average is 15): Pritchard 8.9, Horford 5.0, Brissett 4.8, Hauser 1.3. I don't care how good the starters have looked, they need to get a lot more production and minutes from the bench to be in better position to have a successful post season after 82 games.
Not sure what the solution is, but going all out to win games in October may or may not be the right answer.
KP just FEELS old - he just had his 28th BDay. That said, we are only 2 games in and I don't expect the Celtics to do nothing before the trade deadline. They played a good Knicks team on opening night and wanted to make a statement against Miami in game 2. The full regular season rotation likely hasn't even been used yet.
Scoot, man...Betting against Portland this year has been off to a lucrative start. 0-3 ATS with another chance to showcase their stuff tonight in Toronto. Going to bet against Portland every game this year. TO THE PROMISE LAND!

I think he's just in the process of figuring out NBA length and athleticism. Some of his passes and shot attempts have been so clearly DOA that I've shouted "NO!!!!" at the TV. The simple layup packages that worked against G leaguers don't quite translate against Kawhi Leonard. He has the necessary athleticism and BBIQ to develop some counters, so hopefully we see improvement by the end of the year.
