Betting against Portland this year has been off to a lucrative start. 0-3 ATS with another chance to showcase their stuff tonight in Toronto. Going to bet against Portland every game this year. TO THE PROMISE LAND!
Scoot, man... :sadbanana:

I think he's just in the process of figuring out NBA length and athleticism. Some of his passes and shot attempts have been so clearly DOA that I've shouted "NO!!!!" at the TV. The simple layup packages that worked against G leaguers don't quite translate against Kawhi Leonard. He has the necessary athleticism and BBIQ to develop some counters, so hopefully we see improvement by the end of the year.

Yeah, certainly not fair to pass judgement after 3 games - 2 of which were absent their only true shooter. And I definitely don't want him to get discouraged; he's on a bad team with no rudder so it would be easy to get into a bad head space.

Just keep grinding, go against the best, ask the best for career advice, learn, work on shooting and remember these early years should be viewed as "developing" years for everybody. Players, coaches, management, fans.....patience please.

While we wait, I'm going to just collect Hamiltons.

well the bucks looked like a garbage fire last night still trying to figure it out i suspect take that to the bank brohans
I figure the Bucks and Celtics will both have some growing pains with all of the changes they've made. Lillard isn't going to play other-wordly every night out and coaching and playing with Giannis is likely very different than anything you would experience on another team.

The Celtics starting 5 is something to marvel at. Much more balanced than the Bucks. Lets see if Porzingis can stay healthy.
So far Porzingis is better than I expected. Between his injuries and then being stuck in the purgatory of Washington, I don't think I had watched him play a full game in a couple of years. I've been especially impressed with his rim protection.

I always loved Porzingis's game. He could have been Wembanyama 8 years ago, but he was a little immature and injury prone. It looks like he has grown up a little and hopefully he can stay healthy.
And nowhere near the athlete. Porzingis isn't a stiff, but he was never especially mobile laterally (although probably a little better shooter). Wemby is an athletic specimen that the NBA has never quite seen at this sort of height.

It isn't a perfect comp. Sorry

Well, we expect perfect comps...

I would be amazed if the Pistons beat OKC tonight. Most teams will have more talent than the Pistons this year. We will have to put effort a lot of teams and most of those teams you will out effort are the contenders waiting for the playoffs. OKC isn't a team on the rise that probably won't lose many games because of a lack of effort.

I don't understand why Derrick Jones Jr is on Dallas. I understand even less why he's getting a bunch of minutes. I understand WAY less how tf he is starting.

Ausar just went down after getting blocked in the lane and literally could not get up. Hopefully just a cramp, but very weird.

He is so explosive and can get to the rim easily but has no idea what to do once he’s there.

The Sixers are acquiring Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, multiple draft picks and a pick swap for James Harden, PJ Tucker and Filip Petrusev, sources tell ESPN.

Woj: The Clippers are sending the Sixers a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round picks and a pick swap, sources tell ESPN. The Clippers are also routing the 76ers an additional future first-round pick from a third team.

Hmm, that third team comment has me doing the Windhorst meme.

Don't love that haul.
It is what Harden is valued at. It certainly isn’t pretty, but I don’t think Terrance Mann makes it much better. I’m just glad he is gone and we don’t have to hear his name every single day.

Clippers kept Mann, Powell, their 2023 draft pick guy, and got Tucker in return (bad salary, but decent player). They did really well.
To sell tickets I guess you could say it’s good. Don’t think they get past the 2nd round still. And I don’t think Terrance Mann is really going to make a difference either way.

If Sixers get a legit 2nd 1st round pick they got some value back for Harden which in reality he should have just walked away this summer.

76ers won this by getting Harden out the door (really it was a long and winding road to get rid of simmons). .

I wouldn't give up a peanut butter and jelly sadnwich for james harden. team killer. The girls in the LA strip clubs are gonna be buying homes in Beverly Hills after Harden comes through. They are the only winners in LA. Except maybe the all you can eat buffets. they gonna make some $s off harden too

I think you are going to be severely disappointed with this second pick. What are the 76ers or Clippers giving this mystery third team that would warrant a 'legit" pick? Neither team has much to offer that they will give up.

Odds are it is a heavily protected first that is unlikely to hit and in a few years will turn into two seconds.

That and the Sixers could have easily received nothing in return had Harden simply opted out and signed wherever he wanted this offseason. This is found money, simply for the aggravation Harden brought by opting in and immediately asking to be moved.

2023-24 Clippers
2022-23 76ers 21 ppg
2021-22 76ers 21 ppg
2021-22 Nets 22 ppg
2020-21 Nets 25 ppg
2020-21 Rockets 25 ppg

Anyone see a trend here? 4 teams in 4 years. Declining production. No playoff success.

If it smells of trash it most likely is trash

Exactly. Huge win for the Sixers.

Clippers are ring-chasing with names and it's not gonna end well for them...the Sixers got rid of a major headache they should never have brought in...those picks will come in handy...the question now is what's next...they are in a little bit of no man's land as they are a good team with a legit franchise player but kind of on the outskirts of being an actual title contender...their next move will determine whether they can close the gap and become a real title contender...pressure is on Morey and there should be plenty of rumors to keep us entertained.

It's an LAC first.

LAC sent a 2027 pick swap to OKC in exchange for freeing up their 2026 first.

So the sixers got LA's 26 and 28 firsts (unclear on protections), a pick swap, and 2 seconds, in addition to Morris, Batum, Covington and KJ Martin.

In order to acquire Harden, the Sixers traded 2 firsts, arguably the worst contract in the league, and salary flotsam.

Harden was probably equally distressed right now as he was when Brooklyn traded him.

Trading Tucker is a downgrade, but freeing up the cap space for next year when he might be dead definitely has some value.

Overall, I have to say that Daryl did about as well as he could have here. It doesn't make the team better this year, but there never seemed to be a point when making a serious run this year was in the cards no matter what, so he refilled the draft coffers and increased flexibility for next year.

What guards are potentially available via trade that the Sixers might be targeting to play next to Maxey?
Not a guard, but Siakam and OG are both likely available and would make a hell of a defensive lineup with Embiid.
Are they available though? The Raptors never sell players off.
They can't really make a trade for 60 days, at least with any of the players they acquired. By then, the Raptors could be something like 9-22 or something and very much in sell mode. That Poeltl trade will go down as one of the more non-sensical trades ever.

Has any player been traded for as much draft capital as Harden over the course of his career? By my count, he has been traded 4 times for a whopping 9 first round picks and 5 pick swaps.

I kind of see the Sixers standing Pat for the year. This season is all about finding out how good Maxey can be. Is he good possibly great or can he be a top 10 player in the league at some point. Only way to know is to let him play. Sixers probably still make the 2nd round of the playoffs anyway so no harm done.
