LOL Pistons.
Are we talking about the trade? Two seconds is a fairly cheap price to clear Bagley's $12 million contract next year and it's probably going to be a net benefit just to get him out of the locker room. If we're talking about the decision to sign him to one of the more ludicrous contracts of recent memory, then yes, LOL.

It is for a team that needs cap space. No one is talking the Pistons money. They are giving away assets/lotto tickets they need to get better. That 12 million next year helps nothing.

It'll help a team this off-season or next season when Detroit does something stupid with the cap space.

Just the whole thing. The original trade when they already had Stewart and Duren on the roster and had just traded for Wiseman and had Bogdanovic who is/was mostly a PF. Then signing him to that extension. And then this year, he's been an actual NBA-level player for the first time ever, and they have to pay to dump him.

I don't follow the Pistons much, but if he's been a dipshit behind the scenes, I suppose it makes sense to get rid of him. If he isn't much of a problem problem, they just paid to possibly make their team ever so slightly better this season and to gain some cap room next year than they obviously don't know how to manage (see the Bagley contract, the Harris trade, retaining Bogdanovic and Burks until they aren't worth hardly anything).
Not trying to defend weaver, but as a point of clarification, bagley was acquired at the 2022 trade deadline and wiseman was acquired a year later at the 2023 deadline

Where did your post go @Juxtatarot

I think that the wiz did it because they felt like 2 detroit seconds were the best return they would get for gallo and muscala and the cap hit doesn’t really mean much to them for the next few years

I guess they may not end up being Detroit picks per se, but I guess the same logic applies. Livers is probably also worth a flier

Oh Detroit.
Portland San Antonio Charlotte and Washington really owe Detroit something. Those 4 teams are terribly bad yet nobody cares because Detroit

I am sure at least one of those teams will abuse our GM in a bad trade. Like the Nets with the Joe Harris deal.

LOL Pistons.

A goldfish would be a better GM at this point.
I have a GREAT idea for a movie.

On a day when the NFL Playoffs is clearly the main draw—I have to say that I’m also excited to see how the Clippers vs Wolves game ends up today. Both teams look legit and I don’t think they have played each other yet this season.
Really hope ant is able to go. Questionable right now.
He's ready to go.

I am excited to see how this game goes. The one thing I know for certain is that KAT is going to have to guard either Kawhi or PG13, and he's going to be in foul trouble all game. If any of you nerds are gamblers, bet the KAT unders.

KAT is guarding Mann. Oops. I didn't figure they'd put Conley on poopbeard.

What awful defense by SAC there. My god. The only thing you want/need to prevent is a Dame three. Yet they double Giannis and don't cover whoever else came back for the ball. Doubling Giannis meant Fox was in terrible position to get Dame. My god.

I mean, sick shot by Dame. Truly sick. But you gotta do better there on defense. Oh, make your free throws too!

The free throws were the problem.

Nationally televised MLK game with San Antonio @ Atlanta. Maybe it's not the best played game, but it's entertaining.

Unfortunately the Hawks are wearing black w/white jerseys and the Spurs are wearing white w/red/orange trim. WTH? So, the exact opposite of what we've watched forever.

Add in Dejounte Murray being in trade rumors to the Spurs, but currently playing for the Hawks, after playing for the Spurs for years ...and my addled brain is having problems keeping track of which team is which today when Wemby & Trae are off the court. 😵‍💫

####, I have a WFH day today and was not aware the game was on.

I hope there's nothing to the rumors of the Hawks dealing Murray back to the Spurs. Matching salaries alone doesn't move the needle much, and if the Hawks want a lot in the form of draft capital, then it's a hard no from this fan, though I'm sure the Hawks would love to reverse the deal that sent the Hawks FRPs in 25, 26 (swap), and 27 to the Spurs.

Boston's starting 5 of Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis are averaging 98.5 point per game combined. Anyone able to figure out what starting lineup that played a significant number of minutes together averaged the most? Because that 98.5 seems like a lot. I looked at some Steph/KD Warriors and Showtime Lakers and Jordan Bulls but can't find any starting lineup that scored that much

I didn't look very hard, but 76ers last year seem slightly over that. Stopped looking when I found a team, but I'd guess someone can find a group over 100.

Love questions like this. I came so close with the 71-72 Lakers that went 69-13. Gail Goodrich, Jerry West, Jim McMillian, Wilt and Happy Hairston combined for 98.4.

I'll keep looking.

Well, that group has only started 6 games together.

Their most used starting lineup is Batum/Harris/Maxey/Melton/Embiid which averages 96.6/game.

Oubre has 5 fewer starts than Batum and it appears they prefer him off the bench as he's started 15/26 games he's played in versus Batum starting 20/24 games he's played in.

Better comp would be the top 6 of each:
Boston (Tatum/Brown/Porzingis/White/Holiday/Horford) = 106.3 ppg
Philly (Embiid/Maxey/Harris/Melton/Batum/Oubre) = 109.8 ppg

Which does favor Philly as a higher scoring group per game. However, Boston has the better team O & D rating, but that is very close.

But yes, **** Philly.

Pacers potentially trading THREE FIRSTS for Siakem is insane. He's a nice player, but THREE FIRSTS?!

That doesn't seem that bad if they are 18 or later.

They own the worst of the Thunder or Clipper pick. If they traded that plus their pick this season plus a future protected pick, yeah, that wouldn’t be bad.
Also three firsts and maxing Siakam for 4 years. I think he is a really good fit in Indy, but not sure I want that contract in his age 34 season.

What does Indy throw their way for salary? Bruce Brown, Toppin, and several minimum guys?
