Excitement in the barstool bowl. Screen pass to a RB that deflects into the centers hands and he rumbles down the field for a TD. Refs said TD first, then came back to say illegal touching, and now are in break for a review. The suspense is off the charts!

"The ruling on the field, the second ruling, is correct" :lmao:

Gotta say, there has to be something said for Kirby having his guys motivated and Norvell’s entire team quitting. I do wonder if we’ll look back on this in 3 years and say this is where it unraveled for FSU. Hope not.

Feels like all the focus on the playoff (particularly by a certain network) really drowns out everything else. So much cool and interesting stuff goes on in CFB on a weekly basis, but is ignored.
It's long been a problem in college hoops and will only get worse in football. It's not just one network's fault, though. It's the fanbases, too.
After expanding the football playoff next year to 12 teams maybe they could add some play-in games also like basketball.

They should base the players NIL deals on how many games they play, w a bonus for playing/winning a bowl game. So each game is worth x dollars. Maybe they’d play in these games for 75k, and be less likely to hit the portal early.

Gee, it’s too bad FSU got robbed
FSU had over 20 players that decided to skip it for the draft or because they entered the transfer portal. Would have been a different team if they were in the playoff.
Would have? Maybe. Seems a lack of leadership to have that many opt out and transfer.
Although bowers and Mims would have made a difference too.
Yes, would have. They are down, what, 12-13 starters from the ACC title game? I don’t have a dog in the fight (don’t care about FSU, not sure they would have won or lost without those players), but, yeah, this is a completely different lineup than they had all year.

It's probably completely against the current rules, but it'd be interesting to see the bowls try to offer paychecks direct to players to get them to play in the games. Probably wouldn't work as the checks would have to be huge in order for the top guys to even consider risking playing. And there would be a whole inequity thing too - some guys would get huge checks, most guys would get nothing.

They could make a gameshow of it - a series of each bowl bidding to get guys to play for their teams, with the invite to the bowl contingent on some number of the hold out players agreeing to play.

Technically speaking...these guys are getting paid for their name, image and likeness. not their availability for football games. So that's against the rules. (LOL)

Obviously nearly all these guys are REALLY getting paid for being good football players, not their appeal to advertisers on instagram ads and TV commercials....but blatant pay for play language in the contracts would absolutely draw the NCAA's ire....and then the Attorney General of whatever state those players play in would sue the NCAA....the NCAA would cave and then they'd play anyway.

The hilarious part about NIL is that other than a few notable exceptions (Caleb Williams is the only current player I've seen in any commercials. Maybe its more of a local thing for most guys)...the only athletes that are using NIL as it was intended are the Livy Dunne's and Cavender Twins of the world. Other than that, its just pay for play under the guise of NIL with the occasional token appearance or instagram ad to keep up appearances.

I mean....do we really think the entire faceless offensive line at some random SEC or Big 12 school really has enough advertising appeal to get a free $70,000 truck each? Of course not. The whole system is just silly.

Georgia was going to kill them either way - FSU was totally dejected by the snub and playing their 3rd string QB while UGA was ready to show everyone they are one of the four best.

Lot of friends that are Noles fans, been busy up until the NFL game tonight
Was shocked to see the 63-3 score, the good news is a lot of folks didn't watch and I'm confident FSU will continue to be a force, ACC-wherever they want to go.
At least you lost to a great SEC team that honestly was hosed just like FSU, Georgia deserved to be in the Final 4 after B2B Nat Champs and a narrow loss in the SEC Title game
Georgia wanted to send a very loud message and they did

FSU won't remember this game come Spring
Don't let this meaningless Bowl game get you down

I'm sure for those Bucknut fans living around C-bus, that Jim Ricart has to be paying NIL money to get players to appear in his commercials. They're everywhere on local TV.

I was counting FSU’s 2nd string QB among those that chose to opt of the bowl game. FSU completely checked out, for sure. All I said is that it would have been a different team from the one that played yesterday if they made the playoff and that it was a completely different lineup than they had all year because of the number of opt-outs.

That’s the thing. Different reactions from two teams who would have made be playoffs if next year’s system was in place. Either reaction is understandable for college kids, but one coaching staff was able to motivate and had most of their team playing except their two biggest stars. The other let his players give up. Take that however you want, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the bulldogs will be back in contention quick.

FSU might want to forget what happened, but with how bad they let it get, they can’t. They’re in the record books now for the worst loss ever and will be reminded of it until someone hits 61+ margin.

Norvell can try to hide from that but it feels futile. I feel like he better lean into it and use it as fuel for next season with his players. If he ignores it, it’s not just going to go away (esp in a transfer portal kind of world).

Alabama doesnt lose to Texas and they probably get in alongside Bama no matter the sec result. Fsu wasn't gonna get in regardless

Getting back to the absurdity of the entire process let's look at "social media" today where groups of uninformed idiots are using the score of this FSU vs UGA game as a "I told you so" moment. How stupid does one have to be to go there? Really? They need to get back to objective metrics ASAP where the previous year(s) aren't part of the ranking equation. It's a fresh slate for everyone every single year.

The biggest thing future playoff contenders should take away from the FSU situation is to do what it takes to have a strong SOS. Like, play a couple good P5 teams instead of Southern Miss and North Alabama. Teams can't control conference schedules, or if a potential quality opponent has a down year, like Florida. But they can control who they schedule outside of conference.
