2023 Las Vegas Raiders - RIP Jack - one of the greatest Super Bowl moments ever (5 Viewers)

When a coaching staff goes into the mindset of losing on purpose, there is very little chance of success in the future with said staff. People suggesting this display a complete lack of understanding about the psychology of a football team.
Indy got over it.

No one in here truly wants that, even me who has been shouting it from the rooftops for months. But if the Raiders end up with the #1 pick in 2024 I wouldn't be crying, that's for sure.
and then trade down for a kings ransom and let super trooper do his thang!!!

I thought AOC being assigned #4 was relevant. It sure does seem like a message to Carr from McD.
100% but when that’s the only topic of discussion that comes up about a rookie QB playing well for the team you’re supposed to be covering in the media, it’s terrible reporting. If you just listened to Tafur, you’d think the Raiders have already given up on the season and their only goal this year is to get the overall #1 pick. Which makes zero sense judging by the way O’Connell has played thus far and compare him to the top QBs in his draft class; it’s not even close who has been playing better. As a coach it makes no sense to put all that time, effort and essentially your career on the line getting AOC ready to play only to know your overall plans don’t include him.
i've been telling y'all that tafur is a clickbait hack for months. i dismiss his takes quicker than zado's cousin.

seems like more of a message to the team. anybody not buying in can be replaced and have a new player wearing your exact number. no one is above the team, not even the starting qb of the last 8 seasons.

or maybe the guy just asked for that number and nobody cared.
or maybe the guy wearing it before was a middle of the road qb that never really did anything other than be a really good human being.

Aidan O'Connell through two preseason games:

- 304 yards
- 26/36 (72.2 стр%)
- 3 TDs
- O ints
- 5 TD leading Drives
- 1 sack
- 122.8 passer rating
To add to this:

Warren Sharp
@SharpFootball

among 48 QBs with 20+ preseason dropbacks no one is throwning it deeper than rookie Aidan O'Connell 11.0 air yards/att(#1) still has completed 72% of his 30 att for 8.4 YPAout of 48 QBs he ranks:
#1 in EPA/att
#2 in success %
#1 in first down %
#1 in TD %
#1 in 3rd down %
what is this sorcery? imbedded images?

Watching the game:

  • Netane Muti was fun to watch. Likes to get the last shot. Can he play RG?
  • Another nice DL showing. Jenkins, Adam Butler, Koonce
  • Tucker had a TD if that good for nothing bum from Purdue had led him on that deep pass
  • Duke Shelly and David Long healthy, we should get a good look at all the CBs now
  • Carter and Tucker both looked good on returns
  • Young defenders looked fast and alert, same as last week
  • Ameer Abdullah is James White
  • Is Austin Hooper necessary?
  • Backup O-line was chilling all day long
  • The PI against Dorsett (by Davis) was hilarious, you just see this long white streak where Dorsett's undershirt was getting yanked
  • Amik Robertson was up and down, but he almost had sexy Pick 6
  • Super Trooper also BADLY missed Tucker wide open down the left sideline in the 3rd quarter. This Tucker aggression will not stand, man

#Raiders coverage vs LAR: Duke Shelley: 3/6, 35 yds, 68.1 QBRAmari Burney: 3/5, 32 yds, 78.8 QBRAmik Robertson: 3/5, 38 yds, PBU, dropped INT, 83.8 QBRDrake Thomas: 4/4, 9 yds, 80.2 QBRDavid Long: 1/2, 8 yds, 60.4 QBRKana'i Mauga: 1/1, 6 yds, 91.7 QBRIsaiah Pola-Mao: 1/2, 5 yds, INT, TD, 47.9 QBRJaquan Johnson: 1/1, 15 yds, 118.8 QBRTyler Hall: 1/1, -3 yds, 34.8 QBRCurtis Bolton: 1/1, 4 yds, 83.3 QBRMarcus Peters: 0/1, PBU, 39.6 QBR

Watching the replay now on NFL ch, and Aiden just threw a TD to Cole and the way he read and released so fast he had shades of Kurt Warner , dont come down on me too hard fellas lol

I'm now need to know if AOC's woman looks like Brenda.
When she finally grew her hair out she has looked very MILFish
wait. what? :oldunsure:
You are going to tell me that this isn't MILF material?

I am feeling good about our depth. I am not sure how long it has been since I could say that.

Jimmy G who? Do we really need to wait for him to get hurt before starting the Super Trooper era?
WR has some depth after being top heavy.
I am even more confident in the depth on the OL. I think Van Roten moves in to RG and Eluemunor stays at RT. Bars struggled as a starter but good depth piece, I am loving Wagner and Munford is right up there with Eluemunor.
Both DE and DT have some hard choices to make at who we keep and cut. I am liking that depth.
Even seeing some depth at DB.

The only position group that we are thin at is LB.

I do wonder if the mcD and zeig were hoping to get a 1st round pick for jacobs and really don't have him in their future plans at all.

they really showcased jacobs all last season and never seemed to have any plans of offering a multi year contract.

jacobs has to be watching and noticing the offense is improved from last year too. might help work things out, how can you pass up the money and playing in a better offense with an improved o-line?

Fully expect Jacobs to show up before week 1. His options are:

1 Show up and play for $10M
2 Sit out the year and make nothing and be in the same position next year
3 Show up at some point during the season and make a portion of the $10M and be in the same position next year

No one is giving him a long term deal at $15M or whatever per year next offseason no matter what he does this year. Running backs are just not getting that kind of money and it doesn't seem to make much sense for him to pass on $10M this year.

am i wrong that graham doesn't use a lot of lbs? runs a lot of nickel type sets where he plugs in a lot of hybrid safety types into the lb slots. or am i trippin?

Everyone runs what use to be called nickel as their primary formation these days

So.... as I said before... when she grew her hair out.

You guys keep coming back with pics of those gawd awful biker dike cuts she seems to favor for whatever reason which drastically degrades her attractiveness. Plus, I don't keep tabs on her. We are all aging and less attractive than we were before... I don't know when it was she had the nice grown out hair... might be ten years ago for all I know.... but that pic I showed, with a hair grown out.... she was looking tasty for sure.

The Irish connection the coach and the QB. The kid looks impressive, poised, Kurt Warner-ish as others have mentioned.
Josh Jacobs is going to do the Jonathan taylor thing where he fakes injury, fakes family home matter issues , etc.
Z. White is becoming more of a thing as we get closer to draft day. Jacobs needs to go to practice he can't sit out anymore. he has to get involved. Taylor has thought this through, he's going to fake his way through a season and leave next year if he can.

Have they been seen in the same room together?

I think someone realized @DA RAIDERS hadn't been around much recently so they mentioned Tafur.... like the bat signal he comes running
nah. it was all the stupid references to super trooper wearing number 4

for whatever reason the site doesn't alert me sometimes when y'all post in here. even though i am watching the thread. its weird

I finally had to vent about Vic Toolfur. The Rich Eisen part of the interview is what really disappointed me.

You know.... I heard if you go in to the bathroom and turn the light off and then say "Gruden, Gruden, Gruden" in the mirror @DA RAIDERS will appear and kill you.

I cant see him doing that , it would do nothing for his value if thats his ultimate goal . 10Mil is nothing to sneeze at , on top of the 12 mil hes already made , and thats 10 mil for just 1 year. This is a guy who lived in a car at one point as a child ,now he has enough money to buy hundreds of cars lol

Awwww.... I think I beat you though. :boxing:

I was thinking you thought I made a bet with you on him coming back or not... and I was like 'must have been someone else because I haven't been worried about it'

The good news is neither of you have to buy anyone a beer because Jacob's denied saying that.
That hardly matters. He's not going to pass on $588k game checks so I'm sure 98% of people "expect" him to report. I know I do and I'm sure every NFL-related writer does too.
To be fair everyone was saying the same thing about Bell when he held out. I even remember every NFL writer was still giving scenarios week 10 of that season about Bell showing up.

Bell's career was never the same after he left Pittsburgh. After averaging 4.3 yards per carry with the Steelers, he managed just 3.3 yards per attempt during his brief tenure with the Jets, with whom he didn't last two full seasons of his four-year deal. After failing to find a trade partner in 2020, the Jets released Bell in the middle of the season.
Rather than sign a second straight franchise tag, the then-outgoing Pittsburgh Steelers running back sat out the entire season while seeking a long-term deal. It's a refrain that's familiar to high-profile running backs in 2023 who have likewise failed to secure long-term contracts.

The dispute ultimately led to the end of Bell's five-season career in Pittsburgh that saw him make three Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams. A season later, he signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the New York Jets with $27 million in guarantees.

Over the weekend, Bell issued a statement to Steelers fans via social media. He regrets the decisions to hold out and leave the team. And he'd like to apologize.
"I never apologized to the fans for really sitting out — or leaving the Steelers," Bell said in a video posted on social media. "I never apologized. I'm gonna say I apologize for leaving the best damn fans there is in this damn world.
"I shouldn't have left. I apologize. I should never have left. I apologize. That's my fault. That's on me."

Not really. He pocketed $27 mil from the Jets for two years of work. The Jets got 333 rush/rec out of him, that works out to $81k per touch. Not too shabby.

All told he made $45 mil and change for, technically, 8 seasons of work. If Jacobs signs the tag he will have earned $22 mil in 5 seasons. Anyone think he'll hit another $23 mil in years 6-8?

In wonderful news, Chris Jones is planning on skipping as many games as possible this year, to fulfill his contract.

Act 1

Some angry KC fan tags Chris Jones on twitter, asks when he is gonna show up. Chris Jones actually answers and says, Week 8.

Act 2

Some offbrand Chiefs Twitter account quote tweets Jones, and mentions that it will be expensive to sit out 8 games.

Chris Jones replies to THAT tweet:

I can afford it
