Ha, that’s a nice story but that ain’t happening hereIn week 1, in 2003, the New England Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-0. New England went on to finish the season 14-2 and win the Superbowl.
In week 1, in 1991, the Washington Redskins beat the Detroit Lions 45-0, and they met again in the NFC Championship game that year.In week 1, in 2003, the New England Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-0. New England went on to finish the season 14-2 and win the Superbowl.
OK ... That's the plan then !In week 1, in 2003, the New England Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-0. New England went on to finish the season 14-2 and win the Superbowl.
We got Toney and Evan Neal instead of Parsons .... Ouch !!!regrets? Yes, but not just about DJ’s contract. We could have just taken Parsons instead of trading down with the Bears.
You guys need some Hog mollies. I know just the GM for you....Welp. The entire right side of the line was non-existent. Might just played 9. I see Jones is catching crap, but when the rush is arriving as soon as the snap, I dont care who your skill players are, take the best of the hall of fame at their primes… it just won’t matter.
Last year was fun, as they were watchable. This? It wasn’t worth the time.
For the love all things holy, please just draft oline next year. I can’t take another decade of this crap.
'Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?',People please. Can I have a little order in the room. It's week one. Let me repeat that for the hearing impaired. IT'S WEEK ONE!
To quote some of the greatest philosophers of our time..."Always look on the bright side of life.."
Did General George Washington give up after he lost his first battle? And every battle after that until he WON THE WAR!
Did Wile E. Coyote give up after hundreds nay thousands of attempts to beat The Road Runner? No he kept pounding the rock. (And got him once, even if it was a dream)
It's a marathon people not a sprint. Does anyone here think The Rams will go undefeated?
Calm down, relax, take a pill...or two. Cozy up with Mr. Daniels,no one will judge you.
As bad as it was last night,as much as I threw up in my mouth,as sick to my stomach as iIwas at three o'clock this morning, guess what?
The sun came up today and I could hear Annie singing in my backyard. "The sun'll come up tomorrow...yada yada yada..."
We're a game out first place. We're a game out of the playoffs. WITH SIXTEEN GAMES TO PLAY!
It’s not talked about enough. This was a generational player that we passed on. Worst case scenario is that he went to our rival. We wanted Devonta Smith so bad that we really didn’t have a back up plan when Eagles moved up. Our 2 rivals traded and messed us up in more than one way.We got Toney and Evan Neal instead of Parsons .... Ouch !!!regrets? Yes, but not just about DJ’s contract. It’s all about timing. DJs performance last year was while playing one of the easiest schedules possible. Imagine if his contract was up the end of this year when he has to play a hard schedule. He would be home cutting meat at the grocery store. Instead he is set for life. It is better to be lucky than good.Wonder if NYG has some ragrets about that contract.
LT-Andrew Thomas - 3 pressuresWonder if NYG has some ragrets about that contract.
Everyone wants to blame the QB when the team stinks it up. Jones is particular is an cheap/easy/lazy target. It’s very lazy ‘analysis’. Was he he perfect last night? Nope. Was he the reason they lost? Far from it. These stats capture the blame perfectly. The right side of the line was non existent. Can’t play winning football this way.LT-Andrew Thomas - 3 pressuresWonder if NYG has some ragrets about that contract.
LG - Ben Bredeson - 2 pressures
C - JMS - 3 pressures
RG - Mark Glowinski - 9 pressures, 3 sacks
RT - Evan Neal - 8 pressures, 1 sack
Jones didn't play well, the interception to Gilmore was a stupid decision but holy hell what do you expect him to look like when the OL plays like this?

I've never seen an Oline get so dominate in my life ... It looked like Dallas was playing against a High School offensive line.Everyone wants to blame the QB when the team stinks it up. Glowinski is replaceable and I have to imagine that he will be soon
Evan Neal is a huge problem. It's getting real close to officially call him a bust ... This would be a tremendous setback and a waste of a #7 pick in the draft. In this case the Giants may still have to use a 1st rd pick next year to upgrade the line.
As scary as it sounds, Matt Peart may actually be a better option than Neal ... but I believe he is now injured
Maybe replacing Glowinski with a more athletic RG like Ezeudu would help protect Neal's inside which is where he seems to be particularly vulnerable
Also add ...
The coaching gets an F in this game for panicking after the blocked FG and abandoning the run which was working pretty well on the first drive. And for playing the starters into the 4th Quarter (Jones and Thomas - who was already injured on the blocked FG)

But it is also true that many here were saying that the worst thing that could have happened to the Giants last year was winning, because they were so obviously a team full of holes that needed to rebuild, and paying a middling QB 40 mil a year would hinder that.
What they fairly obviously should have done was to continue the rebuild. Go cheap at QB/RB, spend that $ on OL & try to bring in an alpha receiver since they have like 6 slot guys.
You’re right that the OL stinks, but that’s just a symptom of a much larger problem.
The Giants were not likely to compete this year with Barkley & Jones, so why pay them?
Once they had a winning season last year, it became like the Orwell novel “to shoot an elephant” - they had to keep trying to compete because no one would have understood if they broke it down and rebuilt coming off of a winning season.
Disaster.
Yep ... I think ready or not it's Ezedu timeThe Giants biggest mistake was not signing Jones, it was deciding to bring back Glowinski. He was absolutely terrible in Pass Pro last year and, for some reason, they decided they didn't need to upgrade or bring in another vet as competition. My guess is it was some degree of loyalty from their days in Buffalo, along with a belief that Ezedu would be able to step up more than he has. Either way, being the masochist that I am, I watched a bunch of tape breakdown of the o-line play from week 1 this morning and, man, he was even worse than I thought watching live. Terrible technique, out matched physically, and straight up lazy on a lot of plays. He and Neal single handedly wrecked this game for the offense.
Neal was as big a concern, but it's not like they were going to move on from him this offseason. He was a high pick and all reports were he had improved his technique. If anything they could have upgraded their swing tackle spot as insurance, but there aren't a lot of teams that have the luxury of having another starting tackle riding the bench. He looks like he is overthinking things right now, probably from a lack of confidence, or just being too slow for NFL level pass rushers. If he doesn't figure it out soon, they probably will have to kick him inside and go shopping for a new RT.
Thomas looked completely different after he got injured, Bredeson actually looked fine, and JMS looked like a decent rookie (better on run blocking than pass for sure, but that is to be expected). Jones had one bad INT, but the rest of the game he didn't have a chance. It's week one, against a team that has beaten them 6 of the last 7 times, is a terrible matchup for them, and is without a doubt one of the more talented in the NFC. I'm not trying to make excuses, and they deserve every bit of criticism thrown their way. But there is plenty of football to be played, and either the coaching staff will find answers to stabalize the line or the season heads off to the abys.
Never said they didn’t. I said it was arguably the worst possible thing for the franchise.Giants went to and won a playoff game last year because of Daniel Jones not in spite off him.
That, they are not. They’re a roster full of holes, in a brutal division, and they were not 1 Danny Dimes & 1 Saquan Barkley away from winning it all. They are a young upcoming team that just made the playoffs and won their first playoff game ... No reason to tear it down.
Time will tell. I see a 4-13, maybe 6-11 team that’s weak at WR and has a terrible OL.They had a lot of holes (WR, C , CB, LB and DL) that hopefully they filled in the draft and Free agency. They still have holes ... most teams outside of SF and Philly do.
Schoen inherited a few stars that needed to be signed and a terrible cap situation that should be resolved by next year.
Depsite week #1 which i'll personally write off as **** Happens ! Health willing ... This team will be competive this season and hopefully a legit contender next year.
The roster still has holes (obviously) but I don’t think that DJ & Saquon’s contract prevented them from addressing OL and WR this offseason.I mean, sure - yes that’s true. It’s all about timing. Not really, but we can agree to disagree. Is the argument they should have let Barkley walk? It’s isnt like they overpaid for him. I really don’t understand the argument here. Wr was a weakness… they addressed it with draft and FA signings. Got a top flight TE too. Picked up a center in the draft. They did address their weaknesses. Can’t fix two GM’s worth of malfeasance in a season or two. Does more work need to be done? Of course. Who is stating otherwise? This whole line of convo is… weird.
I'm disappointed that they have not brought any OL in for a workout. They have to kick the tires on Dalton Risner or Justin Pugh or ask John Hannah to come out of retirement. Sure John is 70 something but I think he can do better than Glowinski did Monday.PFF gave Glowinski a PBLK grade of 1.0 on 49 PBLK plays.
I've never seen that before ... nothing even close to that
Evan Neal was a lot better with a horrible 25.7 PBLK grade.
On the bright side ... there are plenty of unemployed Olineman available that are more capable then Neal and Glowinski
And, Ezeudo led all Giants Olineman with 77.1 PBLK grade ... though he only had 12 PBLK plays
they are 4-1-8Giants have won 4 of their last 13 games.
Waller said there is a nerve issue…
"Andrew Thomas (hamstring) and Darren Waller (hamstring) will not practice today, per Brian Daboll. Graham Gano (ankle) will be limited… Daboll says Waller is OK and it’s a vet day. He will have one once a week. Waller said there is a nerve issue…. Thomas is “day to day.” Daboll also says moving Evan Neal to left tackle would not be a consideration if Thomas is out. He says Josh Ezeudu has practiced for the last couple weeks at left tackle when media hasn’t been watching practice. Matt Peart will practice. Sterling Shepard probably will get a vet day tomorrow."
Amani Oruwariye, a defensive back on the practice squad, suffered a neck injury during practice today.
He had movement in all his extremities and was taken to Hackensack Medical Center for further evaluation. The results of the evaluation and testing were negative, and Oruwariye was cleared to return to the team’s facility.
Glowinski is not an NFL player. How did the ‘revamped’ oline look? I could only follow game via the web… I’ll be able to watch Tuesday.
Looking forward to all the patronizing hot takes this week. Happy for the win, but it doesn’t seem like progress was made.

He came in later in the game at LG when Brederson went out with a concussion. Thought Ezeudu and McKethan did fine. Neal didn't look as bad as last week....low bar, I know.Did he play? I thought he got benched.
