2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (6 Viewers)

Fingers crossed that Joey Porter Jr is there for Philly at 10. His closest spider chart comp is Sauce Gardner. Only player I'd consider over him is Jalen Carter if he drops because his legal issues. Let Slay play out his final year and let Bradberry walk.

CJGJ is the only FA I would consider bringing back. He's versatile enough to play CB or S. He brings an attitude as well.

Also, Hargrave is at the age where DTs fall off the cliff. Eagles better not re-sign him. Let him go and hope Jordan Davis can fill the void.
I like him too, some of my guys are telling me he is not a great fit for the scheme as he is more a Man guy. I say "if you can play man you sure as hell should be able to play zone"

I think I heard there was issues scouts had with some of his numbers and physical attributes. Definitely doesn't fit what Desi wants in his scheme though

I haven't seen him mocked that high, I think we could trade back and get him. What are your thoughts on the other 2 CBs? Good chance 2 or even all 3 are there when we pick, which I'd love to trade back if that's the case.
I have a feeling Porter is the Steeler's target. If the Eagles trade down, I could see the Steelers attempting to leap frog them by trading up.

Porter also is a steelers guy anyway. He literally said in Interviews he wants the Steelers only

Yes, expected, and looking at these contracts, what a team we had last year and despite the turnover few years ago, what a great job with signings and developing draftees. hurts a little, but believe in the system!
They are going to need Davis, Dean and Jurgens (if Seumalo leaves) to step up and also draft guys that can play from day 1 this year.

At this point I'm doing a lot of mocks I've done a few where I tase the first 1st for more picks and even get offered 1st for 24 so double up for another consecutive year. I've also done keeep the first one and trade the other pick at end of 1st round. That's not getting me as much as I want trade value in mocks. But the Eagles need to acquire players and more picks too. Maybe they trade a guy or 2 for a pick in this draft.

That may be the case but I'm sure he'll quickly find allegiances to whatever team drafts him. I would love if he somehow ends up on the Steelers.

OverTheCap predicts we will get the following compensatory picks for FA’s lost

Hargrave- 3
Dillard- 5
Edwards and Epps are 6’s

Not upset we lost anyone after seeing the money they got. Resign CJ, restructure Slay and get the best CB with our first pick.
i don't know. i am sure it is with the Kelly green glasses, but i really liked what we saw out of Blankenship last year. i would be ok if CJ goes and we can get back a 3rd or 4th compensatory for him. My guess is Slay won't find a deal out there that he is hoping for so he will be back as well.

I have to look more into how Desai runs his defense to really get a good read on how the defense may play out. Hargrave was the one i was hoping for the most that would come back, but if the Eagles rotate the DL like they have done i think paying over $20 million a year was a bit too much. Just need Jordan Davis to take that next step and make more of an impact.

Looking ahead, does Devante Smith contract come up next year or the following? after the Hurts contract, that is the only one i can think of that will come up in the next 1-3 years that will be a big hit. obvious trades and other players coming and going, but if that is the case the Eagles are in good shape for at least the 3-year window

so some rumors floating around. Eagles have interest in Brisett as the back-up. Makes sense, and i know Brisett and Siriani have a good connection. certainly low priority for the Eagles, but that is a guy who can certainly play a ew games for Jalen and keep the team afloat. i think Gardner is good and hope he does well, but he needs to find a team where he can get the chance to get some more snaps.

i am curious if there is any interest in the league i Suh and/or Linval Joseph. I think both guys went a little under-rated with the team last year, and if they can be held onto for cheap i would be glad with that depth.

also interested in seeing how RBs play out. I wonder if Miles can get a 3rd or 4th round compensatory pick back seeing how he is viewed by most websites as the top RB free agent available

Blankenship is toast in coverage. He's good for depth and situational but I don't want him out there as a starter.

I'm fine with Hargrave leaving. He's 30 and at that age where DTs fall off the cliff production-wise.

The Eagles need to make CJGJ their priority. Young and brings attitude to the D.

DeVonta Smith signed for 2023 and 2024. Becomes UFA in 2025.

1 year $14.25M deal for Kelce. Damn.
whew that is pricey, guess that probably means Seumalo only comes back if it is for under 6-7 a year. i like Isaac a lot, but have to see if Jurgenson can hold up on the OL and not waste his rookie contract much more

For me, the whole thing comes down to what the Eagles can get out of Davis, Dean and Jurgenson. all of this free agent losses won't be a big deal if those 3 2nd year players can continue to grow and get better. if they can't, last year's draft may end up being a bit of a bust. i don't think anyone thought that after the draft, but the capital they gave up to move up for Davis, etc. will hurt if all 3 can't become regular players/starters

Bolded 100%. These guys must step in. I have a lot of faith in Dean, Davis looked good before his injury last year then just kinda lost his rotation % with Suh/Joseph coming in. At this point, I want Seumalo to move on. Still pissed about the false start before the Hurts fumble in the Super Bowl, and he will get a good contract if Dillard got 3/29, which will get us in the 3rd/4th round comp pick range. We have the best offensive line coach in NFL history and Howie is a G at this point. Gotta trust these guys to get it done. Jurgens at RG seems no brainer, just hope he is in the 300-315 range when camp opens.

From the FA thread:

Chris Lindstrom's new contract sets NFL record for guards/underscores what was expected: Linemen will make bank this FA period. LGs:

1. Lindstrom: $21m APY
2. Quenton Nelson: $20m APY
3. Elgton Jenkins: $17m APY
4. Joe Thuney: $16m
5. Joel Bitonio: $16m
6. Laek Tomlinson: $13.3m

Seumalo is gone. You can't use a 2nd on Jurgens and then have him waste away half his contract sitting on the bench.

I have faith Davis will be more than be capable at DT. He was pretty good before the high ankle sprain.

I don't have that same faith in Dean. He is tiny. I don't think he'll be able to hold up in a 17 game season.

Kyzir White: 6'2, 234
Nakobe Dean 5'11/231

And Nakobe is much more a cerebral player. There were a few plays in the Super Bowl White looked completely lost/out of position as the run game continued to gash us.

I have faith!!

Milton Williams as well. That was a 3rd rounder and he needs to be a starter now.

Are Eagles in the backup QB market? Why this part-time starter intrigues them

QB Jacoby Brissett Drawing Interest From Bucs, Eagles

Better fit than Minshew was, would be a good add imo.

The Eagles interest in Brissett is even more straightforward. Philadelphia easily has solidified Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback. After a season that saw Hurts receive MVP votes, receive second-team All-Pro honors, and lead his team to the Super Bowl, there is no doubt in anybody’s mind of who will be leading the Eagles’ offense next season.

In Philadelphia, Brissett would solely be a backup. It’s a role that Brissett is familiar with. and perhaps a bit overqualified for, but it’s not unreasonable for the Eagles to reach out for a backup quarterback of his caliber. Situations such as we saw in San Francisco and Baltimore this year prove just how imperative it is to have a backup quarterback capable of winning football games.

Quinton Jefferson, former Seahawk released today, DT that has 3, 4.5 and 5.5 sacks the last 3 years on 3 different teams seems like someone Desai may want to bring over.

He fits the Steelers better then the Eagles anyway.

Eagles free agency update:

Signing with Eagles:
RB Rashaad Penny

Staying in Philly:
C Jason Kelce
DE Brandon Graham

Leaving:
LB T.J. Edwards: Bears
DT Javon Hargrave: 49ers
OT Andre Dillard: Titans
S Marcus Epps: Raiders

Well Penny instantly deleted his "Eagles are Trash" Tweet just in time :P
LOL that is fine, was like 8 years ago. Man I *really* want him to stay healthy but we all know the odds are so low. Drafting a RB still gotta be in the plans.

Contract guess: 1/$3.25M
Agreed, drafting a RB is still on the table. Right now they have Gainwell, Surmon, and Penny coming off ankle surgery. Am I missing anyone? Scott's a FA, right?

it was a long shot, but there was speculation re: howie's ties with Kareem Hunt. guess that's not possible now. i'm a little disappointed, hunt > penny imo, as a player.
