2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on the upcoming Jets game? Should be a good test for the offense. Thinking the DL should feast on that O line. Maybe pick off Wilson a few times.
any given Sunday applies, but I think the Eagles have an easier game overall. Probably not scoring 30+, but 26-13 type score sounds about right

Wanted to get an update in here on the players that we lost that were allegedly going to lead to our 2023 demise and the replacements:

Miles Sanders: 190 yards, 1 TD, 3.1 YPC. 15 receptions, 81 yards. 55.5 PFF Grade
Deandre Swift: 434 rushing yards (4th in the leauge), 2 TDS, 5.7 YPC. 15 receptons, 75 yards. 73.8 PFF grade
Upgrade!

Issac Seumalo: 63.8 PFF grade
Cam Jurgens (who is currently on IR): 65.2, his current replacement with just this last game starting, Sua Opeta: 57.4
Push!

CJ Gardner Johnson: On IR, never made an impact.
Reed Blankeship: 73.4 PFF
Hard to tell b/c CJ is hurt, but Reed looks like a real good player to have in the fold moving forward

Marcus Epps: 66.8 PFF
This role has been filled by a few guys. Overall I'd say the safeties are not as good as they were last year as a consensus group

TJ Edwards: 74.8 PFF
Nakobe Dean on IR, but his replacement looks legit: Nicholas Morrow 84.1 PFF

Kyzir White: 65.7 PFF
Zach Cunningham: 64.2

Seems like an upgrade overall for the unit. The defensive line is allowing LBs to flow to the ball.

Javon Hargrave: 85.0 PFF with 3 sacks
Jalen Carter: 91.8 PFF. Rated the best DT in the entire league. Tied for the lead league in pressures at the position with Aaron Donald, who has about 1.5 more games worth of snaps.

Jonathan Gannon: Did what he had to do and beat the Cowboys. But we do not miss him.
Sean Desai: Sack numbers down, but overall the #1 ranked run defense in the league.
Upgrade

Shane Steichen: Looks to be the QB whisperer for sure.
Brian Johnson: 4 straight games of 450+ yards of offense. Just the 5th time in team history this has happened.
It's still too early to tell, but its a downgrade for now. If for some reason Shane were still here, we'd still be 5-0, but the RZ efficiency would be higher.

Seems like yesterday rival fans on here were celebrating all these departures.
It’s even better when you factor in the contracts of the players. I'll take Swift over Sanders any day of the week and twice on Sunday (especially Sundays!).
I’ve never liked Miles like others did but he was a decent player. I just think a lot of locals overrated the guy do yo who he played for in college. He isn’t the first or last guy either.

I’m not a fan of our safeties right now. We essentially signed like 3 guys to replace 2 of them that doesn’t bode well. I think a Blankenship is good but he can’t be the guy. If CJGJ was here he’d be an excellent complimentary safety. I think Reed is one of those safeties paired with a better safety is a good partnership. He just shouldn’t be counted on as the guy.

Swift I’ve always liked and him and JJ were my top guys for the eagles. Not bum Reagor
Why can't Blankenship be the guy? He's playing pretty good ball. Are you biased against him simply b/c he was undrafted? He's got great instincts and football IQ and is a great tackler in run support. Not sure what else you would want. And the other S spot is going to be Sydney Brown eventually.

The 10th highest graded safety by PFF is 77.8 and Reed is at a 73.4.
I like Blankenship I think he’s playing well but his overall skillset not just pff grades says he can’t be the guy he’s better with someone else there.

Massive game. Really want to be 6-0 heading into the death stretch.
The death stretch isn't looking so terrible to me really. Dallas has fallen off hard, Dak's defintely pressing and the coaching is tough. Miami, we will face without Achane who we all can see is a huge weapon for them now. NOW, they still are loaded on offense so I feel of all the teams they might be the toughest opponent. The Bills not only lost 2 great defensive players, they already were missing the LB that joined the Bears in free agency. Chiefs are the Chiefs and will be tough too, but they don't look as great this year as they did last year (neither do we for the record, but I digress). Going to Seattle will be tough. We always lose there too.

And then we got the 49ers in there. IMO they look like the best team in football and they will come into Philly looking for revenge from last year. Purdy looks great and we will have to have a great came plan against their offensive system, but I think we match up well.

I say we get this win go to 6-0, we get a minimum of 3 wins in the "death stretch" and we have a floor of a 12 win season starting at us IMO. If we got 4 or 5 wins we will have a great shot if not probable shot to get the #1 seed if we take out SF. It goes Giants/Cardinals/Giants the last 3 weeks and to me there is no chance we are not going 3-0 during that stretch (injuries sure yadda yadda, as long as we are heathy)

Starting to really feel great about this team and how well we are running, stopping the run and on both sides in the trenches we dominate.

Agree with most of this. If we lose I hope it's to the afc teams. I think we lose one of the ones vs miami, Buffalo, Kc. Might lose 2.
But besides SF, I think going to sea is looking like one of the toughest NFC games left. If we go 3 -3 and one of those wins is vs SF we are golden.

It's gonna be Hall for 30+ carries to keep Eagles O off the field as their best chances to score. If Jets win this game, it will be like 16-13.

I find it odd that Slay has missed 2 straight days of practice with a "knee" injury no one was previously aware of, and there's hardly been any chatter about it. Then, we just added the PS punter to the active roster (to take the spot Jurgens created going on IR.) With Dean eligible to come off within 21 days, that could either mean Dean won't be activated this week, or someone will have to get cut or go on IR, for him to be activated. :ponder:

I think local media may have dropped the ball on pressing on Slay with the Phillies being the hot story.

When it comes to the roster moves, I don't try to understand them and just trust that Howie is doing them for a reason.

Per rapsheet quiz out with hammy

More:
-- #Eagles DT Jalen Carter is dealing with an ankle sprain that is not considered serious, but expected to miss this week. Likely back next week.
-- #Eagles CB Darius Slay (knee) is also expected to miss this week, but should be back next week.

Great. Just great.

Well, the Jets offense isn't the unit that scares me that much. So if you had to have guys rest a week, this is the one. Don't want them hurting against the dolphins.

Between the Jets (on paper) being a deficient team, the multiple injuries to the defense, the upcoming brutal stretch of our season, the Phillies playoff run, etc. this games feels very trappy.

If they had any kind of decent QB, I'd be worried. Like even if they had Baker Mayfield, I'd be worried. It's Zach Wilson. It should be 24-12

Comparing Mayfield vs Wilson. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel lol.

I think Quez gets put on IR today or tomorrow. They have to clear a roster spot for Nakobe. Also, a guy on youtube (Philly Mike) said he has an inside source saying Nakobe walks back into the starting MLB role. He is apparently close to Nolan Smith 🤔

We've activated LB Nakobe Dean from Injured Reserve, elevated WR Devon Allen and CB Mekhi Garner from the Practice Squad for tomorrow's game and placed WR Quez Watkins on Injured Reserve.

What would it take to get chin from carolina?
I don't hold much in PFN rankinhs but they have him ranked #31 of all safeties. We have 4 5th round picks. I would hope one of those could get it done.

Yeah. Still want budah baker though
He’s not coming everyone I’ve spoken to they’d be shocked if it were to happen. Too much money plus Arz apparently wants too many assets for a guy who they need to get rid of

Through five games, Eagles WR/PR Britain Covey ranks:
