2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (1 Viewer)

This whole desai thing is shocking but as a fan I’m elated. Patricia is a total douchenozzle as a head coach but he has a history of being a great DC. this may be the shot in the arm this whole team needs
Hopefully it’s not the equivalent of his defense that gave up 41 points to us in Super Bowl 52.

I know the assumption is flu, but putting him on his own plane and symptoms getting worse could also be Covid.
Yep, my assumption is that he has Covid.
Bad case of Covid isn’t exactly something you can will your way to play through, so if it’s that I think some of the optimism he plays is a big assumption.

Considering Hurts isn’t old, fat, or immune compromised he should be fine.

That's a horrible assumption. I'm none of those and it hospitalized me.

He probably plays, but people don't know how sick he is and need to stop the "oh if he's just sick then he will play, and might even play better" assumptions.

I 100% think flu games are a thing.

I am not saying Covid = the flu. I didn’t even consider Covid until it was brought up in here.

Don’t report me!

We don't really know HOW sick Jalen is. I'm sure he will play if there's any way he can.

This is gonna be just a really really strange game.

- First ever game flexed to a different day
- Both QB's may not play
- Random secret DC-swap
- Penny vs his old team? Maybe?

Gonna be weird.
If Hurts is conscious today, I think he's playing tomorrow. Without a doubt. I think the only thing weird will be the non stop Jordan flu game hype. Eagles 3 point favorite playing a reeling team with their backup QB.

I’m a firm believer in flu games. Guys who can muscle it out tend to play better.

Imo, It’s a thing.
I'm extremely far from a pro athlete, but gonna share anyway. In college I was on a dek hockey team with people on my floor. I was the goalie. Came back from visiting home and had a terrible cold/flu and as soon as I show up they tell me we have a game. I dragged my butt there and played and had the best game of my life. Shutout, was a brick wall. I gave all credit to my cold/flu.

1. But you're one for telling others how they should FEEL because apparently young fit people can't feel too bad from covid.
2. What examples of flu games do you have besides MJ?

Well teams going into the Super Bowl should all lick the floor everywhere they go the week prior to the game lol

Anecdotal, but I remember other cases of players having great games while being sick. No, I can't give specific examples, and no it's not a suggested approach for all players, but to simply dismiss someone because they're sick isn't a good idea either. That's all.

Yeah there is something strange about it. Once you get moving your body seems to get into a gear it doesn't usually get to. Hard to explain but I agree it's real

I’ve seen countless examples of it

1 Link to me telling others how they should feel? I expressed my opinion.

2- Countless first hand examples throughout high school and college.

3- Dont tell me what to do

4- OK

5- Let’s hope Josh Allen hasn’t been doing those Hurts fumble drills™️and we get a few turnovers.

Question. Tush push works so well. Why don't the Eagles take a deep shot every 2nd & 1? I mean, if they do it every time, it's going to be telegraphed, which is susceptible to an interception ... but you can always have short routes and the scramble option if the coverage is too good on your deep guys.

They need more quick easy passes. They try for the big play too much

The way I'm looking at it though, it's an essentially "free play". The eventual first down is a foregone conclusion once they're down to 1 yard. So if you can take a deep shot for "free", why wouldn't you? When you need 10 yards, yeah sure, quick easy pass all day.

OR...and this seems more likely, it's a good faith effort to keep him from spreading whatever the bug is to the rest of the team JUST before gameday. And having him travel seperately is a fantastic way to protect the others.
Not overly worried. Elite athletes like this generally are ok to play after a couple days of flu.

I don't know what the current protocols are, but find it hard to believe they would include an OK to play a day or two after a positive COVID test. Todays variants are a heck of a lot more gentle then they ones 2 years ago were, but it's still fairly contagious and still (about as) dangerous then the common flu.

As an critical care RN, thank GOd...that was an AWFUL time for a while. At the peak, I saw 4 or 5 people die on my unit weekly, sometimes as many as 10 or 12. Now? I can only remember like 2 in the last 6 months and they both had significant complicating issues

Lurie is very adamant about his defense not embarrassing the org and he almost fired Schwartz after the DB because he hated how they played. If Gannon wasn’t hired by Arz Lurie was going to fire Gannon.

Interesting. I always think it's interesting when the owner gets involved like this.
Yep he decided not to because of optics if just winning the SB lurid is very hands on but he’s not like Jerry Jones was on intervening,

My car club Milan our keeper went through the flu a few weeks ago. Got the shutout. Played a few days later in the meaningful club European comp and besides a piss rocket of a goal

Geno is out?

Game time decision but most expect Eagles to get the Seattle backup.

I’ve been saying the opposite. Feel like we take some deep shots often at the worst possible times. We should be looking at first and ten like first and eight. Run three times and rush push for the first on fourth down. Rinse repeat.

Totally fixable. A top 3 roster in the league with a cupcake rest of schedule.

Since Joe and some others came here a week ago to talk us off the ledge after the last couple weeks of things spiraling downward and assure us everything will be fine:
  • Slay underwent surprise knee surgery and is out for at least a few weeks
  • Starting RG Cam Johnston was declared out for SEA
  • Starting LB Zach Cunningham was declared out for SEA
  • Big Dom was banned from the sidelines for the season
  • Anonymous quotes from the locker room came out criticizing the offense's game plans and play calls
  • The secondary asked to do their own scouting for SEA, instead of taking scouting reports from the staff
  • Our DC was "quiet fired" and the team hoped no one would notice
  • Our new DC has a reputation for being good via Belichick shine but has never had a top 10 D and most recently put up Sean Desai numbers for 3 seasons as HC in DET
  • Hurts got so sick leading up to the game that they downgraded him to questionable and vacuum sealed him in a sterile plane to ship him to SEA
Kudos for pulling off a masterful reverse jinx, fellas

Still a top 3 roster and you've secured a playoff spot and the last four opponents you face to finish the regular season are a combined 19-36. (But they DEFINITELY are really tough opponents.) You guys are fine.

How many times can one guy post about the ease of the Eagles' final 4 games?

Yep, it's been an absolutely wild week. Not expecting a win tonight, but hoping we can pull one off.

I am. Seattle really isn't very good. I'm not expeccting them to roll over and make it super easy though. Something along the lines of 31-20

Hurts couldnt lead this offense to a first down to ice the game, and the defense let Drew freaking Lock go 92 yards to win it.. They suck - this is barely a playoff team.
