This loss felt worse than the others

I do agree with this. I still think Eagles will be ok in postseason. It's a tough league. But Seattle is not a good team and Drew Lock is not a good quarterback. It's one thing to lose to San Francisco or Dallas. This was different. Still will be ok though. Will get right over the next 3 games.
We will mask our deficiencies over the next 3 games. We will look mediocre Doing it eeking out wins over terrible teams or worse, even losing one of them.

I haven't felt this dejected in an Eagles seasons since 2010. This just feels like a formality for the rest of the year.

Your team is tons better than that. #3 on today's Power Rankings. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-eagles-cowboys-seahawks-week-16/71968286007/

Positively should go 3-0 to finish out.
USA Today? I mean power rankings are always subjective but I'm not sure how the eagles would be above Dallas, Detroit, Baltimore, Miami hell even KC and Buffalo at this point. Eagles are probably 7-10 in power rankings and that's generous.

Yes. USA Today is widely respected on their rankings. And of course, like anything, they're subjective. ESPN has Eagles ranked #5. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/pa...r-rankings-poll-2023-plus-every-team-first-at

The Eagles offense has a complete inability to close out games with a lead this season. They have had the ball with a realistic chance to run out the clock and win the game 13 times this season, and have only managed to do so 2 time (15% of the time) 👇

Week 1 - @ NE
The Eagles had the ball up 5 with 3:28 left and fumbled. The defense got the ball back and the Eagles had a turnover in downs. Their 2 offensive possessions combined took 31 seconds, but the defense held strong twice.
Run out the clock: 0 for 2

Week 2 - vs MIN
The Eagles got the ball back with an 8-point lead and 1:09 on the clock and went 3 and out. You probably don't count this one because they ran out MIN time outs and took the clock down to 7 seconds before punting, but for the sake of completion I'll note it here.

Week 3 - The Eagles got the ball back with 9:22 remaining and a 14-point lead and drained the rest of the clock.
Run out the clock: 1 for 3

Week 5 - @ LAR
The Eagles got the ball back with 2:46 remaining and a 7 point lead. They picked up 1 first down and then turned the ball over on downs with 1:01 remaining.
Run out the clock: 1 for 4

Week 6 - @ NYJ
The Eagles got the ball back with 4:43 remaining and a 2-point lead. Jalen Hurts threw an interception. Then they got the ball back with 1:46 remaining, down by 6 and were unable to pick up a 1st down.
Run out the clock: 1 for 5

Week 7 - vs MIA
The Eagles got the ball up 14 with 3:19 remaining and ran out the clock. Miami had no time outs left, so it only required picking up 1 1st down and then kneeling the ball.
Run out the clock: 2 for 6

Week 9 - vs DAL
The Eagles got the ball up 11 with 10:07 left and went 3 and out. They got the ball back with 6:22 left up 5 and went 3 and out. They got the ball a 3rd time with 1:17 left and went 3 and out.
Run out the clock: 2 for 9

Week 11 - @ KC
The Eagles got the ball up 4 with 5:28 left and picked up only 1 first down before punting with 2:49 left.
Run out the clock: 2 for 10

Week 12 - vs BUF
The Eagles got the ball up 4 with 8:50 left and went 3 and out.
Run out the clock: 2 for 11

Week 15 - @ SEA
After taking a 17-10 lead, the Eagles went punt, INT, punt, INT to end the game. In the 4th quarter they had the ball up 4 with 10:00 left and threw an INT. They had the ball up 4 again with 6:35 left and punted.
Run out the clock: 2 for 13

Hurts deserves all the smoke coming his way.
I mean Hurts didn't give up a 92 yard 2 minute drill TD.
Hurts had 143 yards, 0 TD's and 2 INT's passing. Yea the defense collapsed that drive, but that doesn't excuse that miserable performance. Sam Howell threw for 300 and 3 TD's. Prescott and almost 300 and 3 TD's. Even the Brown's PJ Walker was able to eclipse that mystical 200 yard mark vs the Seahawks. Andy Dalton had 300+ yards vs them this year. Hurts couldn't break 150. They had the ball at midfield with a little over 2 minutes remaining - and he couldn't ice it or complete a pass.
You're conveniently ignoring his 82 yards rushing and 2 TDs and that his 2nd INT was a necessary end of game play. But sure, that was not his best game.

I don't know how much of this is on Hurts. He hasn't just forgot how to play this bad. It would have been great if Steichen could have stayed with the Eagles and we could see how that played out. But looking at the Colts offense this year with what they have, it has me thinking that the offensive mind has more to do with it then we think
Here’s what I don’t understand- Sirianni, Hurts, Brown, Smith, Goedert, Gainwell, Scott, the o-line, etc were all on the team last year. If the offensive system change is really to blame for their struggles, surely they would all realize that by now.

Why doesn’t Sirianni just tell Johnson, “To hell with your system, we’re going back to what we did last year. Run that system, the players already know it.”

Are Sirianni, Johnson, and the players somehow incapable of running Steichen’s system? Why? Did Steichen keep some aspect of it a secret from all of them somehow?

On that note, when hiring Steichen’s replacement, why not simply tell the new offensive coordinator “We want to run the same system we ran last year, not “your” system. If you can do that great, if not, goodbye.”

Why would the Eagles want to change offensive systems when things were working so well? I get that defenses catch on and adjust eventually, but if Steichen’s system continues to work somewhere else, defenses evidently haven’t caught on yet.

Because it's not just about the Xs and Os. If it were, everyone could run every system. There's a lot more fluidity to installing a game plan week-to-week, reacting in the game, and ensuring that 11 separate people out of your control are working together in the best way. It's about calling the right plays at the right times, understanding which things are going to work better against specific opponents each week and even within the game, and getting the players to buy in and be at their peak when doing exactly what you're telling them.

I don't know what Steichen's "secret" is, but he seems to have done it in multiple places. I had hoped that Sirianni had enough of that mojo that he could carry it over, but maybe he doesn't. Or maybe he feels like Johnson needs to be given the time to continue to develop for the long-run.

People talk about Hurts not being in the same system for more than 1 year, which might have something to do with it, but it seems really extreme. He is super composed and seems like he absorbs and processes everything, so maybe he is the kind of person who needs to take everything in before he can implement it, but when he does, he has total control over it. But it's harder for him to make smaller tweaks on the fly.

The 35 yard bomb to AJ into double coverage when you need 13 yards to get into FG range was the most 2023 Hurts thing to do.
And I went back and watched and he has Gainwell to his left and there’s no one within 25 yards of him.

Makes it worse when you hear Love in his post game presser say he knew the ball was going to AJ 🤦‍♂️

On another deep ball to brown he had Smith wide open on the under

That’s cool if my quarterback was the ****ing running back but he’s not. He’s suppose to pass the ball and most of hurts rushing tds are cultured from the 1yds line

He should be IMO (even if it was mild). He put his shoulder into another player. The NFL has set the precedent.

ETA - I don't think he should be banned but probably fined.
NFL should ban Brian Johnson from the stadium, IMO
And let Big Dom call plays.

I spoke to someone this morning and there’s a lot of fingering pointing coming off the plane. Some are blaming hurts for looking at brown too much, some blame Johnson, then there’s those blaming an brown. That whole dust up in week 2 on the sideline there was more too it then people think it looks like. It sounds like Brown bullied his way to more catches and there’s players wondering if Hurts is too easily manipulated because Brown is his friend and wants to keep him happy so he’s forcing him the ball.

Johnson is really good guy and well liked but the source also hopes there’s whole sale changes. Some of the veterans are sick of the bs especially those who were here for the SB and saw what happened with went and Jeffrey. Things really need to change this offseason or younger guys like Devonte smith are gonna want out.

Throwing the towell in on this season. The issues we have are too deep and not fixable. Be it pride or whatever it is, just not working out. I am expecting a 1 and done playoff ride, if not, definitely a divisional loss. This team is going nowhere fast.

crushing the giants would make me feel like 2% better

The Eagles were on the road in one of the toughest environments in the NFL against a desperate team. They weren't great offensively but they were leading 17-13 with less than 2 minutes left. Seattle was on their own 8-yard-line with only one timeout. Basically you keep the Seahawks inbounds and you don't allow anything deep and you win the game. Even a bad defense should be able to do this.

They allowed Metcalf to catch a 34-yard pass AND get out of bounds. Then they let JSN to get behind the CB and catch a 29-yard TD pass. The really bad thing is they did not have 2 deep safeties which likely would have prevented that. One single high safety under those circumstances is inexcusable.

Most Eagles fans are focused on the problems of the offense and they are legit problems. But the defense and especially the play calling on the last drive is why you lost. Allowing a 92-yard drive in 1:24 with Drew Lock should never happen. Even with the struggles of the offense you had this game in the bag and gave it away on a silver platter.

same. We controlled the game for 3.9 quarters. Giving up a 90+ yard TD drive at the end of that game, to Drew Lock w/out using a timeout was about the most Eagles Defense thing to do. The 35 yard bomb to AJ into double coverage when you need 13 yards to get into FG range was the most 2023 Hurts thing to do.

I sorta blame Johnson for even having that option out there on that last play, but its not like it was Brown or nothing. I'd bet that in reality, in that scenario, that AJ look is like the third option-maybe even not designed into his progressions. The Quez Int is another example. 1st and ten on the 50 with 8 minutes to go, up by 4. Why are you not in burn the clock mode? Why are you taking a 50 yard shot to your fourth receiving option when you are getting back to back to back first downs running the ball, hitting Brown on slants and Smith on comeback routes.

Also, I am really ****ing tired of the complete avoidance of the middle of the field. It seems like every ********* pass is outside the hash marks. We’re effectively eliminating 50% of the field for the defense.

I just don’t understand lots of things about this team.

and the defense continued to get gashed by the run.... just too many fing issues to fix in 3 weeks. and we need some new players.

I dont think we win out and i dont think we win a playoff game. but hey what do i know
@Joe Bryant Any idea why my above post got deleted? This has happened a few times recently-don't think there is anything in there delete worthy?

The offense which is considered to have some of the best talent in the league is averaging 16 PPG over the last 3 games. They faced a defense that has allowed 30+ over their last 6 games.

See my post above, the offense is not capable of putting a team away when they need to and it’s happened all year long.

Anyway you guys can adjust that? I know you want to keep a clean board but there’s stuff that gets deleted and if you weren’t there when the original post was there it’s hard to follow.

This team has been flawed since the start of the year. It’s only because of the talent and some low IQ football by oppoennents we aren’t .500 or worse. I’ve been voicing my concerns since the start of the season. But I was told everything would be ok.

James Bradberry passer rating allowed in man vs. zone coverage

Man -- 108.9, 7 pass TD allowed
Zone -- 60.9, 2 pass TD allowed

Bradberry was in man on the GW TD given up to Jaxson Smith-Njigba

Seems like Desei was awful in the first half and good in the 2nd half, and Patricia the exact opposite.

Can we get them to swap places at halftime each game?

You posted, " It seems like every god***** pass" but the language filter did not catch it. When you posted it, it wasn't blocked out. It's been updated now and will be ****'d out.

In the future, please don't post things that get filtered. The filter is an emergency catch thing. It's not meant to be something to use regularly.

Run out the clock: 2 for 13
Great Oline, Great WRs, Great TE's, Good RBs ...
Sounds like they need a QB

And now you have AJ Brown arguing with fans on Twitter 😂 🤦‍♂️
Dude needs to go
Guy always came off to me as one of those overly massive manly men that have too much testosterone and are always quick to anger and be confrontational....you know the type, idk, maybe someone just like DK Metcalf.

Hurts has certainly however, developed an over-reliance on him. As much as Smith is used, he's still underutilized in the offense. There's currently a difference of 39 targets between AJB and Smith on the year (141-102). Smith is too often killing dudes underneath while Hurts chucks it to AJB in double coverage.

Compare that to last year's regular season, where the targets were much more evenly distributed, and the pass game a bit tougher to predict (AJB 145-136 Smith).

Makes me wonder how much Brown is in Jalen's ear on a weekly basis ever since he was crying in week 3.

Throwing the towell in on this season. The issues we have are too deep and not fixable. Be it pride or whatever it is, just not working out. I am expecting a 1 and done playoff ride, if not, definitely a divisional loss. This team is going nowhere fast.
Oh they are definitely fixable. Just not this season. They're going to have to do a deep clean this offseason if they want to fix it.

It’s a lot more people try to smooth that week3 or whatever it was issue off but it seems like it was a big problem. Hurts was here when the Wentz stuff went down so I think he’s trying to satisfy the problem but is just making things worse for the offense. Either the team needs an OC and QB coach who don’t take **** or they grab two new guys and trade brown. Only issue is I think the cap hit they’d take
