2024-25 NBA Thread: Celtics fan proudly looking at 2027 revenue projections (53 Viewers)

The home crowd in France made a huge difference for that team the last two games.

In four years the United States may be the team that needs the crowd in Los Angeles to win gold again. :ponder:

The rest of the world has closed the gap a great deal, and in four years the US (probably?) won't have LeBron, Curry, or Durant to make the biggest plays needed to win.

Why is this Steph's first Olympics? Injuries and team precautions before?
2012: not a star yet
2016: right after NBA finals (didn't have him or LeBron or others - Klay, Draymond, Durant, and Harrison Barnes all played)
2020 (2021): weird timing put it right in the middle of an annual golf tournament he hosts or something I think (plus the playoffs ran right into training camp/overlapped - remember Booker/Middleton/Holiday flying from finals to Tokyo?)

After this tourney, there should be a legitimate conversation between Steph and MJ for the GOAT.

The tie breaker should be who has read more books.

:lmao:

Alll of these are funny. Not what I said but funny.

I appreciate your Lebron book schtick. One of the best things in this thread :ROFLMAO:

I’m glad you liked it. I enjoyed that apparently everyone in this thread has been living under a rock for the past decade.

I don't like James because I am Piston fan and some other minor gripes, but he is arguably the best player ever. (I have him second) and by all accounts he is a really good human being with his charity work and complete lack of scandals despite being the most watched player on the planet for the better part of 2 decades.

I never said anything about him being a good person or not. By all accounts, he’s a good father and I think he does mean well.

The basketball player, which is all I’m interested in flops around, wants all the attention in the world and over dramatizes any and everything. He’s a victim Jerry Jones. Flails around like he’s been hit by a bat and the replay will show he wasn’t even touched in that spot. But that won’t stop him from going on in agony for an additional three minutes and we all have to just pretend to ignore it.. That’s his basketball character

As far as his basketball skills, he’s a ginormous human who has one move in his bag, crossover, put his head down drive through the hole. don’t get me wrong. It’s a dominant trait. Hes a skilled passer, almost great defender and pretty good three-point shooter.

In the end, it’s the flopping in the pretending for me. It’s just bizarre.

He’s a great player, but you can have him.

Probably not the right thread for this, but I watched the WBB Gold Medal game today, and that was ugly basketball. I can't recall ever seeing so many shots missed within 3 feet of the basket as the US team missed. Add to that the turnovers and the offensive rebounds allowed, and they were very lucky to win. I will say that I was surprised the refs allowed the game to be as physical as it was, that was a factor.

Yeah well that’s what I thought too but live betting the under in the 3rd quarter still didn’t work out

Curry's 4th quarter was so much fun to watch. You could see the other guys were all about feeding him too. That last three he made was ridiculous.

Le Bron, what can you say? I think he's the best ever at this point.

I get that many don't like him, but anyone hating on him at this point just looks silly.
Most hyped athlete to ever actually live up to it and more?

He was seemingly the most hyped high school basketball player ever. What about Gretsky or any other top tier all time hockey player? Were they hyped at that level at high school age? I think Tiger hype started in college. What about tennis... did Serena or Federer or Nadal have hype at as young an age as Lebron? Interesting question.

Tiger is a good compare. He won 4 consecutive amateur championships from age 13-16 and was one of the most media hyped athletes of all-time. And similar to LeBron he’s the 2nd best ever at his sport. ;)

I know it's an obvious troll/bait, but I want to be on record that it's actually kind of ridiculous to not have Tiger as the golf GOAT. At least Jordan/LeBron is an argument where reasonable minds can disagree.

I think there’s a solid argument for Nicklaus. The biggest one being many think the competition was better with Jack - at least the top end guys. Field was deeper with Tiger and if he hadn’t shot himself in the foot he would definitely be - but I do think there’s an argument to be had.

Agreed. When Phil Michelson, John Daly, and Sergio are your biggest challengers you kind of have it easy. That said, he dominated so much that better competition may not have made much of a difference.

So who is on the 2028 Team USA that wasn't there this year to take Lebron, Curry, and KD spots? My bet is Embiid and White don't play again on the team either. Will Bam and AD still be able to play?

I think Maxey and Jalen Brown are likely. I am worried a Bronze at best is coming.
