2024-25 NBA Thread: Thunder starting to question having 140 pound guy playing in post in Finals (42 Viewers)

Knecht's offensive game will definitely translate immediately. This draft's Jaquez? Not sure of his defensive abilities, though.

That seems like a good comparison. For these win now teams, I don't see why they're so adverse to an older and often more developed player. Get him on a cheap rookie contract and extract value now.

Interesting pick by Charlotte. Not a bad idea
The Hornets have never really had the culture to develop these type of younger project players, but I guess the new regime thinks they can.

Not really sure what their overall plan is.
I would give them the benefit of the doubt for now considering what they’ve done since the new owners took over.
That is my default until they show me otherwise. Hard to know what this team has when Lamelo and Mark Williams only manage 41 games combined. In related news, they replaced the training staff.

if the bucks were going to do that they should have taken bronny to see if labron would come here take that to the bank brohans

A little sad the Sixers didn't take Knecht when he was sitting right there. But as a Duke fan, I'm happy to see him on the Sixers. Knecht would have been sooooo good though.

Was looking at a 2nd round mock on the Athletic. Think there were two or three bigs mentioned, not many to be had today it seems

how many of these "super athletic, few actual basketball related skills" guys ever develop?
Giannis, Siakam, Anunoby, Adebayo, Aaron Gordon, Jaden McDaniels, Kuminga all fit that description to some extent when they were drafted.

I don’t disagree with your point though, the bust list is a lot longer.
It's a total crapshoot, but if you want to draft a great wing, you generally need to roll the dice on guys like that. It's extremely rare to find a 6-7 - 6-10 guy who is athletic and can dribble pass and shoot in the draft, and when they are there they go in the top 2-3 picks.

Wolves had a heck of a 1st round with Dillingham and TSJ.

JMO TSJ is going to thrive immediately in the transition NBA. Guy is massive and going to be a load to stop to the hoop. In a draft looking devoid of difference makers, I think the Wolves got at least 1 in TSJ.

As much as he thrived at Illinois, I think he's better suited for the NBA game. When he struggled in college, it was in the half court game with a big roaming at the glass.

Porzingis underwent leg surgery and is expected to be out 5-6 months. If it turns out to be 6 months, that's approximately the first 30 games of the season.

The Wiz take the early Vegas lead with a projected 24.5 win season. DET and POR at 27.5. I think the play is the under on all three of these.

Portland is 100% in on tanking for Flagg. Load up on your under there.
Drag for Flagg?
Slag for Flagg?

There's gotta be something there.

It's been "Capture the Flagg" here for months, but that's pretty lame.

It's going to really suck when Portland wins 11 games and gets screwed in the lottery again.

Dude, we're tired of talking about Boston.

Is there anything dumber in the world of sports than when reporters say 'so and so had successful surgery'? Has there EVER been a report of unsuccessful surgery on any athlete?

I've seen it on occasion. PLAYER X was expected to be out 4-6 weeks, but the surgery revealed additional damage, so his new timeline is to be out 3-4 months.
