2024-25 NBA Thread: Thunder starting to question having 140 pound guy playing in post in Finals (27 Viewers)

Derrick White was an overpay - but Celtics bringing the band back together makes it worth it despite how bad some of these contracts are going to look in 2-3 years.

Delon Wright to the Bucks on a 1-year deal
Considering the realistic restrictions the Bucks have to add talent right now, this is a good addition. Perfect fit for the Bucks needs.
:lmao:
The guy could only muster 14 minutes a game for the ****ing Wizards last year
Well, Milwaukee used their two draft picks on players that are a year away from being a year away. So, adding a competent guard that can play minutes each half without being left open is a real plus.

In an off-season where multiple teams have already thrown millions at players that absolutely won't be playable in the playoffs, this is a good signing for the Bucks.

OK, I'll play. 18th in Win Shares and 23rd in Box Plus Minus for the entire league. 2nd team All Defense. 5th in offensive rating and 6th in defensive rating among guards. 40% 3P. Won the title. If he's not worth $32M a year, then what is he worth?

Also, the years run thru his age 30-33 so he will not "get old" during this contract.

Assuming he doesn't have any major injuries, his game should age well.

Celtics have their top 9 all back again next year
Tatum, Brown, Jrue, White, Horford, Porzingis, Hauser, Pritchard, Kornet

When was the last champion to bring the entire crew back the following year?

Oh Detroit....
I don't hate the Harris signing. They gotta spend their money somewhere and while Harris is not a #2 or # 3 or even a #4 on a contender, he is still a good ball player.

Saw this stat

Assuming Jamal Murray signs his $209 million extension...

Most guaranteed money without making an All-Star team:
1. Jamal Murray $381.8 million
2. Tobias Harris $300.8 million

I just foresee them needing more out of Kornet this year.

Wild how his first 2 years in the league his 3PAr was like 65% and then last year he only had 1 3pt attempt (and made it).

He shot 36.2% from 3 on 4.2 att/gm his 2nd year in the league while with the Knicks. :loco:

IIRC, Kornet still holds the record for most 3PM for a 7-foot player in college.

I'm not saying Kornet is a world beater, but his .248 WS/48 was better than everyone else on the team last year except for Queta at .259. Considering he played 1,000+ minutes between the regular season and playoffs, that was pretty valuable.

27 mpg for the Heat in the playoffs. He's a good backup guard on a minimum deal.
I mean Miami was without 2/3 of their roster. He is a fine player, but not someone that a contending team should be all stoked about

Saw a reminder of what the Clippers gave up for Paul George in 2019:

- SGA
- Danilo Gallinari
- 2021 1st (Tre Mann)
- 2022 1st (Jalen Williams)
- 2023 Pick Swap
- 2024 1st (Dillon Jones)
- 2025 1st from MIA
- 2025 Pick Swap
- 2026 1st

Oof.

Has to be up there with the Nets/Boston as the worst trade ever.

Ugh, just noticed Miles Bridges is a Klutch client. Please don’t, Lakers.

My guess is LeBron is going to take a discount so DeRozan can sign for the MLE.
I think the Lakers are full roster wise at 15 right now, somebody needs to be traded before they can take on more people.
I think they are actually only at 12 right now. Knecht isn't actually signed yet and Lebron is a free agent. Either way though, it's pretty easy to find someone to take a minimum contract

During the off-season you can carry up to something like 20 players. Roster limits start hitting in late Sept/early Oct.

They're at 12 now + LeBron, Knecht, Bronny.

I don't think running it back + DeRozan and Knecht (minus like Christian Wood or Cam Reddish, Jaxon Hayes, or something like that) puts them in the top 8 of NBA squads.

I wonder if they should swing for Lavine. Not ideal and he has his warts and gets paid tons of money, but you could do a Russell + Rui + Vanderbilt. Get Lebron to take less and sign Bridges.

Lavine, Reaves, Bridges, Lebron, AD is a good lineup

I think I'd rather have DeRozan at the MLE for however long than Lavine at 50M for 3 years. And, though this may sound strange, Vanderbilt is one of the few (only?) legitimate perimeter defenders they've got. Granted he's a near 0 on offense, but I still would like to see them hang on to him if possible.

Orlando signed Goga Bitadze to 24/3 which is slightly above the room exception, meaning they are using cap space....

Also reports that they are going to use remainder of their cap to extend Jonathan Isaac.

Talked a big game and didn't produce. Now I know how my wife feels.

Just brought back Gary Harris too. They’ll be better with KCP and Paolo taking the next step but yea I was hoping for one other player too.

KCP/Harris covering 48 minutes with good shooting and excellent defense is pretty decent though.

Damn
The 2025-26 Boston Celtics payroll and luxury tax total is set to exceed $400 million once they fill out the roster.Tax rates are set to increase in deeper levels that season while the Celitcs are also set to enter the repeater tax.
