2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals court designs NBA ordered off Temu finally came in (149 Viewers)

Ant picks up his 16th tech tonight and will be supsended for the finale against Utah. They shouldn't need him to beat Utah, but a win keeps them out of the play-in and Utah has their pick this year so will want to win. Great.

Assuming Wolves beat Jazz, I think these are the scenarios:

Clippers and Nuggets win
4 - Den
5 - LAC
6 - Min
7 - GS
8 - Mem

Warriors and Nuggets win
4 - Den
5 - Min
6 - GS
7 - LAC
8 - Mem

Clippers and Rockets win
4 - LAC
5 - Min
6 - Den
7 - GS
8 - Mem

Warriors and Rockets win
4 - Min
5 - LAC
6 - GS
7 - Den
8 - Mem
(4-way tie 4-8 at 49 wins)

Looks like no chance for an LA/LA first round.

Looks like bottom of the standings are fairly locked in too.

Bottom 3 (same lottery odds)
1/2 - Was 17-64 (14.0% lottery odds)
1/2 - Uta 17-64 (14.0%)
3 - Cha 19-62 (14.0%)

The rest (locked in)
4 - NO 21-60 (12.5%)
5 - Phi 24-57 (10.5%)
6 - Bkn 26-55 (9.0%)
7 - Tor 30-51 (7.5%)
8 - SA 33-48 (6.0%)

Could come down to coin flip if Por beats LAL and Pho loses to Sac Sunday (play at same time). Sac still needs a win, LAL don’t care and will be resting everyone.
9 - Por 35-46 (4.5%)
10 - Pho 36-45 (3.0%)

(Added lottery odds)

I don't see the Rockets winning, they're playing strictly back of the bench Sunday.

Thank god, because I don't trust the Nuggets to win even with a full Rockets bench.

That Clippers Warriors game tomorrow could be a lot of fun. I couldn't be rooting any more for the Clippers to win, from my Nuggets' fan perspective.

Two things. I am starting to come around on the Clippers being a wild card to make the conference finals and it was nice to see the Pistons win a game where both teams tried. I was getting worried that they were just happy to be here.
Healthy Kawhi is still a thing. His numbers are all-NBA level when he's actually playing.

Healthy Kawhi is still a top 5 player in the league. The problem isn't talent.
Chuck agrees on the Clips...says they may be the 2nd best team in the West, and no one refutes him.

If Chuck says it then they are doomed.

I don't know, broken clocks and blind squirrels say there is a chance.

Watched Nike Hoops Summit last night and AJ Dybantsa & Cam Boozer are ****ing loads. Good luck college basketball next season stopping them.

Boozer is so smooth. AJ is a freight train that can run over and through anyone at any level right now

Chuck also said the Mavericks would be better in the short term than the Lakers after the Luka trade.

Chuck is highly entertaining, but his predictions usually suck.

So you think he should have foreseen AD missing a ton of time and Kyrie's season ending injury? Because if both of them had stayed healthy this year he may have been right.

I've been saying it and the numbers back it up, the Clippers are as good as any team not name OKC in the West when Kawhi is playing.

I don't gamble, but is the line on Celtics/Hornets really Celtics -10.5?

That's crazy considering Boston is sitting all 5 starters and Horford. The last time they ran this lineup out there, they lost by 20 in Orlando and scored a season low 79 points.

Considering AD's injury history, "you" (the general you) don't get use the injury excuse when you trade a top 5 NBA player for an aging star like Davis who has a long history of being injured. And as great of a number 2 as Kyrie is, it is never worked out well for any team with him as the number 1.

My bad if it’s been stated, but are the scenarios today pretty clear? My understanding is that if the wolves win they’re the sixth seed but the google (could be user error on my part) isn’t clear.

Interesting, sounds like Rockets are playing most of their guys vs Denver today. Not sure if they’ll do something like only play them the first half or something.

Jokic should get the MVP, right? Think of where the Nuggets would be without the Joker. Plus, he had his best season ever stats wise. He needs to get the MVP.
There is the "story" component to the MVP vote as well. Always has been. It's not just a statistical award. That's why SGA will certainly win.

Sorry I led you astray @Kev4029 . I don't get it. I suppose they don't want them getting rusty or something?
Looks like Nuggets are still big favorites on the road. I guess everyone is assuming starters only play the first half.

Not sure how I missed this the first time around as I figured this thread would be on top of it!

Little Woz thanks you as well as he now wants to watch all those games when, honestly, I’m looking to watch the masters and just check in on the NBA. :scared:

Some of the playing time shenanigans today are funny.

Mikal Bridges played 6 seconds to keep his Ironman streak alive at 556 games.

Jarrett Allen played 1 minute so he will have played in all 82 games this season.

Probably some others. Not sure if anyone that mattered needed today's game to get to 65 or not.

I just realized Ben Simmons is on the Clippers. I find it funny that is he going to go further into the playoffs this year than the 76ers and might even make a conference finals before 76ers.

Denver will win and clinch the 4th spot. Sac will host Dal in the 9/10 playin. Suns and Blazers will coin flip for 9th/10th best lottery odds.

If Wolves hold on vs Jazz, it all comes down to GS/LAC entering the 4th.

Warriors win:
5-Min
6-GS
7-LAC

Clippers win:
5-LAC
6-Min
7-GS

This is a special place.

The unfortunate part is that it's been around so long that my thinking Curry wouldn't make it in this league back in '09 has actual receipts.

May not have even said it then, but I thought Ty Lawson was better too

I mean if the team was healthy (fair I think if we assume AD and Kyrie are healthy), I would way rather have Luka, Kyrie, PJ, Lively than AD, Kyrie, PJ, and Lively.

So no, he would not have been right. He's a moron. It was idiotic on every level:

1. It was idiotic on a basketball level for immediacy and in the future because you don't trade a super young guy who makes All NBA first team every year and it one of the five best under x age players ever for every age he's ever been going back to like age 13.

2. It was idiotic on an injury risk level because AD is at least as big an injury risk as Luka

3. It was idiotic on a lineup level because AD at PF has never been a good play, really, and Lively is one of your only young and cost controlled assets.

4. It was idiotic on a business level because you cost a crap load of fans and ticket demand by eliminating one of the single biggest marketing draws a team has ever had

5. It was idiotic on a community relations level because everyone loved Luka

6. It was idiotic on a human level because they treated him like garbage on the way out and everyone noticed

7. It was idiotic on an execution level because even if you had to make this stupid trade you got a significantly lesser return than you should have, even if you were only willing to trade with the Lakers

8. It was idiotic on a basketball level because you're also left with a team built around one guy doing a ton of creation and you replaced him with guys who can't create and never really have and aren't suddenly going to
