So LeBron opted in and has a no-trade clause, but on espn radio they are discussing trades of him?
Basically, if he doesn’t like the direction of the team and/or the team decides to fully build around Luka’s timeline instead of going all-in right now, they can work together to trade him (where he wants due to the no-trade).

Not sure who would be able to trade for him that can match the $52m without gutting their team.

Him just opting in makes this easier to do. If he extended into a new 1+1, he wouldn’t be able to be traded until something like December.

Would LeBron want to play with Beal, Green and Brooks though after they send Booker back to the Lakers?

Jabari smith signs for 5/122

This may end up being too much, but smiths skill set should always be in demand. Rafel stone is one of the most creative at working the rookie extensions market. And if he can actually pick up finney smith , what an offseason

I think it is a very good deal for them. With standard 8% raises, he will be making a little less than half of his max (12.4% of the cap). By the last year, he'll be making 11.5% of the cap. In terms of % of cap ($17.6m last season), consider that Malik Monk, Lu Dort, Harrison Barnes type money.

Yeah, I wasn't a big Stone fan initially but he's proved his worth the past two years. Some great moves and bets that have paid off nicely.

Think the Jabari contract is on market and nothing outrageous. Love that he also got Sengun on a similar deal.

Looks like the Blazers are buying out Ayton. Seems like a lock for LAL.
Good on Portland cutting bait now. Woefully overpaid. Dude has no motor. Different franchise. Same story.

Suns wouldn't have been able to sign an outside player so they overpaid to retain Ayton. Shocked they found a taker of his salary but they lost the real prize in that deal in Camara.

Hes JAG at center but would be fine at a salary more appropriate with his talent level, effort and basketball IQ

Lakers got to get whatever they can for what's his name while he's still got some marketability left.

Say what you want about Jeanie, but tell us you wouldn't be proud of your daughter finishing it all up with 10 billion dollars. And then some. Girl kept it going and did the family proud. All under a microscope. Not easy.

You talking about the guy who was 2nd team All-NBA this year?
Wait, you really bringing up a voting contest? What is it, 100 global media panelists? Sportswriters and broadcasters?

Does Borat get a vote?
You really don’t think he was a top idk 8-15 player in the league this past year??

I don't think I'll ever get the Lebron hate. Sure he doesn't read but seems to be a solid dude on and off the court. Amazing to have access to just about anything in this world from a teenager to adult and not have one scandal. And to do what he's doing at his age from a basketball standpoint is incredible. Undisputed 🐐. MJ just didn't have the longevity of Lebron and had to take time off to duck Vernon Maxwell and the Houston Rockets.

If Lebron doesn't like the direction the Lakers are taking and he asks for a trade( I believe this highly unlikely) There are probably only four or five teams he would go. It would be a team in the West except maybe the Cavs. The others would be Nuggets, Clippers, Warriors, and maybe a sleeper team like the Rockets or T Wolves.

Charlotte gets Sexton and a 2nd for Nurkic, who they got from the Suns for some magic beans (Martin and Micic). Diabate and Kalkbrenner seem to be the only Cs on the roster.

Not undisputed. I am one of many who dispute it. I suspect the majority disputes it.

Knicks an option? They are certainly East contenders and a big market for LeBron too. No idea what pieces would have to move to make it work

Agreed. Just read Jabari is the only player from the 2022 draft class to have accumulated at least 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds. Paolo needs to step up his game.

My feelings is he wants to be in California and the only reason he would consider the Cavs is because it is where he was born and raised and I kind of see that as a long shot. If he was just after rings he would have left a couple of years ago.

I am no expert l though and have been wrong before, so maybe on the Knicks.

To make the salary work and to get Cleveland under the second apron (so they can combine outgoing players), they’d have to trade away Garland, Hunter, and Allen for LeBron (assuming Mitchell and Mobley are off the table). Not sure they’d want to do that unless this was also an opportunity to shed long term salary.

I see them all as a longshots. I don't think Lebron is going anywhere.

An interesting hypothetical I heard was Lakers jumping into the Phoenix/Houston deal - with LeBron going to the Warriors, Butler going to Phoenix, and Green/Brooks going to Lakers (with Green maybe going to a fifth team).

Would Knicks do Bridges, Robinson, Hart for LeBron.? Gets them out of having to do big extensions for Bridges and Robinson. I doubt Lakers would want to take on KAT.

(Sorry I’m bored sitting at the airport).

These are fun and if we wanted to we could probably make a good deal for the Cavs, Knicks, Bucks, Pacers, Pistons and Magic that would all make them one of the favorites if not the favorite in the East and really help the Lakers down for the Luka era, but I think Lebron likes California and if he leaves the Lakers he is staying the state or really close.

Anyone over the age of 45 pretty much disputes the GOAT thing.

Remember like 90% of this forum is over 50.

Huge Bulls/MJ fan here, and man, I gotta say... it's REEEEEAL close.

I like Lebron. Heck of a player, hard worker, incredible skills set.

And I hate Jordan. He's a pompous ***. Incredibly dislikable.

But 100/100 times I'm gonna say Jordan is the GOAT. And I probably put Kareem in over LeBron too. I did not see enough of Wilt or Russell to discuss them.

I was a huge fan of the Dynasty Bulls but think LeBron is the GOAT.
My take on it is Jordan was the goat over a shortened period (8-10 years, whatever) but LeBron is the career goat. If you’re still dismissing what he just did in year 22 you simply do not know ball.

Also, you could argue LeBron’s Heat years are the best we’ve ever seen a basketball player. Certainly the best I’ve seen, and I’m almost 50.

Lebron has played like 7 more seasons than Jordan and still has 6 less scoring titles, less MVPs, and less championships. In an era where he could build his own team. I don't even know how this is debatable. I like Lebron better, he's a better person, he is a better facilitator, Jordan is a jerk ... but when it comes to winning Jordan is the guy you are gonna call to get the job done. He won the championship 40% of his years in the league.
