Does MPJ have value? I assumed that only worked for Chicago because that was an exchange of crippling contracts.
I'm not sure as it depends on how teams feel about his back. If they are comfortable with how his back has healed, I think he is a good player with an uncommon skill set (impossible to block shot that he has consistently hit at a high % that would be better utilized by a different team and he rebounds like a PF) that is a bit overpaid. Like a lesser KAT. That's a skill set that is exceedingly rare. If teams can put him in a favorable situation defensively, like the Nuggets have mostly done with a good defender at 2 and 4, leaving MPJ to guard the worst player on the court, he's very valuable.

The issue is his back - I'm guessing that will be what keeps a deal from getting done. He is still wearing a brace for his drop foot and even though he has been pretty bulletproof the last two years (partially because outside of jump shots, he doesn't leave the ground often and he rarely falls or dives onto the court), the risk of another back injury always present.
I wish there was a try it before you buy it option for the Spurs and MPJ. He's the prototype for exactly what the Spurs need (minus the back issues). Might need to involve a third team for the Nuggets to get what they want (unless they want Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, and drat capital).

EDIT: Spurs have three shots at getting Chicago's first rounder (Top-10 protected next year, followed by top-8, top-8 protections), so maybe Chicago is interested in getting that back.

Are they going to do a parade?
They wouldn’t even drink beer in the locker room after because Doc hates fun.
thats not going to go over well in scanny i think it actually a law that everyone driving to a bucks game has to be over the limit take that to the bank brochacho

I’m sure Adam Silver was thrilled to see the team made a point of not celebrating their momentous achievement.

The Bucks won't appreciate the sting of losing a playoff series after being up 3-1 if they celebrate the NBA cup.

I'm sure we'll have an Emirates Cup banner hanging at the Fiserv sometime soon, up there next to the banner for Doc's retired Marquette jersey number.

Feels like the Thunder let everyone down with how poorly they played last night; pretty awful to watch.

Great example of why the Thunder needed to go out and get Hartenstein though, and why he will play next to Chet a ton. They had no chance against Giannis and Lopez. Hopefully Chet is able to come back in Feb or March and they can get a feel for things before the playoffs.

Yikes. What a classless organization. I hate seeing stuff like this especially when you look at how much they're doling out for some of these players.
i read this and it was appalling i mean come on what a horrible thing to do its like they let kevin garnett be in charge of marketing do something crummy and then run away take that to the bank brochachos

If you want to see some bad shooting, tune in tonight to watch Orlando against this OKC defense.

They need Paolo back or my kids are not getting anything from Santa

Anyone catch the Celtics game tonight?

Apparently technicals were called on Tatum, Brown and Mazzulla in the 4th quarter and Mazzulla had to be dragged off the court by his assistants as he was yelling and going after the refs after the game.

Wolves were all "I love you KAT". KAT was all "I'm going to kill you all."

Unrelated, I haven't been able to watch much Scoot but I'm looking at his box score again tonight and is he like, bad? It doesn't seem to be going well.

Yes. It seemed like the classic case of playing poorly, losing composure, and then taking it out on the refs.

It was just one of those nights for Boston. They strung together a bunch of great defensive possessions and Chicago would hoist up desperation threes at the buzzer. That happened 5 ot 6 times . . . and they all went in.

Joe was mad that on a loose ball that happened right in front of him, Joe saw JB end up with joint possession with a Bulls player. But the refs said it should be PP on the jump ball. (The replay showed the refs got it right.) Joe and JB got called for technicals really quickly. The Bulls ended up winning the tip and making a three on top of it.

JT got T’ed up trying to get around a tough screen defensively. They never really explained what it was for (probably complaining he was fouled on a moving screen).

Joe made a terrible challenge when the ball went out of bounds on a drive by Chicago. Drue said he hit the ball of of a Bulls player. But DH had hacked him on the way to the rim, so the call was changed to a foul with free throws. Dumb.

The long layoff didn’t help any. Boston was just off all night.

i feel like tatum only got that technical trying to keep up with brown as the best technical getter on the celtics take that to the bank brochachos

Nets trade away arguably their best player to tank and they still win...Cam Johnson playing crazy good. I think they underestimated the new coach - no chance they finish bottom 5. None of my teams can figure out how to tank right

Jaylen Brown complaining about his tech in the post game presser was funny to me.

JB to ref: You called that tech (on Mazzula) too quick
Ref: Say that again and you’ll get one too
JB: says it again
Ref: gives tech

I agree the ref had an itchy trigger finger, but Brown basically asked for it there.

Denver lost to Portland????

What the hell? :lmao:
Their defense is a joke. There has been a lot of consternation about Murray offensively (which has been fair) and their lack of shooting (seems to be a non issue most nights) but their complete inability to defend is the problem

MPJ to Atlanta for Hunter and Nance?
My dream trade would be something like Hunter/Nance/Bogi for MPJ/Nnaji/Watson or Strawther + 2031 1st (I think the Nuggets would also have to send Saric to a third team somehow). Gives the Nuggets a backup center that can actually play defense and kinda shoot, a 6th man that can both lead a second unit and step in and do all the dribble handoff stuff, and capable SF with a nice history of injuries. For Atlanta, MPJ give them an especially reliable shooter that they could run plays for (which the Nuggets rarely do) and help their average rebounding, a flyer pick for when they are hopefully good again, and a future rotation player with a chance at being a respectable starter (either Strawther or Watson).

Ultimately, I don't think it is quite enough for Atlanta but I think doing something like adding both Watson and Strawther (which is $400k shy of working for Denver, cap wise so Pickett would have to be included but that would slide Atlanta over the cap by a little bit I think) is too much for Denver so it won't happen.

To the Bulls for Lavine.

I was initially intrigued by this possible trade but I think the Bulls should pass. I’m too concerned about Porter being able to stay healthy. I’d prefer them to stick with LaVine if need be.
For what it is worth, he's been mostly bulletproof for the last three seasons since he came back from his THIRD back surgery. The only injury he had was some sort of like planter fasciitis or something back in the 22-23 season. I would say it is likely that he'll be more healthy and play more games over the next 2.5 season than Lavine but if something happens to his back again, he is a completely sunk cost.

ATL gets totally screwed in this deal. All three ATL guys have positive value. Like at least a first round pick value. MPJ maybe has similar value but Nnaji is garbage and Watson is far less valued than any of those guys. The 31 first is nice but many GMs know their job is somewhat tenuous and a first round pick 6 years from now doesn’t help with job security.

it’s his dream, let him have it

Though if you’re saying each of those atl guys has first round value, i definitely disagree with nance and im not 100% sure about bogey considering his age, but i could see it as a possibility if the trade market is generally cool

I also get nervous that he has to play with an ankle brace. It's also questionable how trading LaVine for Porter does anything other than perpetuate this mediocre, play-in tournament future that they seem stuck in (at best!).

Nuggets aren't trading for Lavine.

They've already got a top 5 NBA SG in Braun.

A trade for Top 40 NBA player Landry Fields seems more likely.
