Im already sick of all the Raiders fans infighting about who the HC should be , no matter who it is somebody is going to piss all over the decision. Its exhausting , everyone should just think the same way i do and say ...''AP is the best guy for the Raiders'' :P

A few comments...

> The Raiders have met the requirements of the Rooney rule for their open GM position. I'm happy with the speed at which Davis ran through these. Hope the decision is equally as swift.
> While I read that the Titans requested an interview with AP, unsure if it has occurred or been scheduled. Granted we often don't hear what it an interview will happen. It's normally that it was requested, or completed.
> Sounds like the team the Raiders blocked from interviewing PG for the DC role was Jacksonville

Davis is such a wildcard man, no telling what this guy is going to do. He’s gotta know hiring AP and Champ keeps stability which this organization badly needs. But I just know he’s licking his chops over guys like Harbaugh, Belichick and Vrabel (especially with Brady in his ear), he loves the big names.

Do we really need a new Raider thread every year? Why not just have a running Raider thread? I always find myself trying to monitor Raider posts in two different threads this time each year. Just a thought and a post to mark this thread.
Or at least a link from old to new. Catching up now. :lmao:

I am not sure Brady would be a supporter of Belicheat. It would be hard to swing back to try to make the Raiders Patriots West again with him after the disaster of McD. I don't see Belicheat being a real candidate. My guess is the Pats hire Vrabel. Belicheat will go to Atlanta.

But I do think Harbaugh is very tempting for him. I really do think it is AP or Harbaugh.

IF AP is retained. Who takes over at OC?

Do you want a young up and comer? An old steadying hand? Is there a norv turner type out there? Is there a ben Johnson type that isn’t a HC candidate?

It’s an interesting conundrum.

I think there is going to be more upheaval than usual with guys that have been entrenched like Belicheat and Carroll out. I am not sure there is a clear favorite for us to hire OC. Harbaugh would basically be bringing most of his own guys. I feel like AP would pitch Davis on some exciting young gun to try to scratch his wanting to make a big splash with coaching itch.

Maybe. AP seems smart enough to know what he doesn’t know. I think he would bring in a proven commodity, rather than some unknown from the college ranks or wherever. If anyone else is hired, I expect a full turnover. Including PG

OL coach going to the giants. Lateral move. Might matter. I thought the line played better than expected this year.

Don’t you think Davis blocking a team from interviewing PG for a DC position a positive sign he’s staying with the Raiders?

Not if a harbaugh type comes in. That sort of coach will clean house

Agreed… But maybe it’s a sign that Davis is leaning toward AP. If he’s all in on Harbaugh wouldn’t he let PG interview anywhere? Knowing Harbaugh is going to clean house anyway. I realize I might be reading between the lines too much but it would make sense if AP stays so does PG and Champ for that matter.

AP will keep Graham. Outside of that... who knows. Harbaugh for sure will bring in pretty much a whole new staff.

It could be a sign that Davis keeping AP. But even if he was all in on Harbaugh there is no guarantee Harbaugh is all in on the Raiders. It could just be a hedge in case Harbaugh decides to go somewhere else.

AP fans like myself see him as a dynamic motivator who believes in old school smash mouth football . He believes in letting the men be men and not forcing them to bend the knee to what HE thinks they should be .let them be themselves ,just play hard and disciplined. Winning IS fun

Pats just promoted Mayo to HC, Vrabel is still out there. I still think Davis is going to keep the core infrastructure together in Champ, AP and PG but Vrabel is an interesting option.

I could see Bieniemy being brought in as OC by AP, who is alpha enough handle Bieniemy's presence.
This is definitely not a bad idea…
He did prove himself in Washington. Took what the not much they didn't have and made it a decent offense. Meanwhile, KC offense has struggled without him. Not that there is a direct line there and the lack of decent receiver's is definitely a bigger reason for KC struggling, I think it is harder now to give Reid all the credit for when Bieniemy was the OC there.

Even though I would absolutely hate it.... I can see the lure of Belicheat. Because of that, I think it overshadows the dynamics of going back to an attempt at the "Patriot Way". Though Vrabel isn't on the Belicheat failed coaching tree (he only played for him and never coaches with him) it is a big risk to go from a failed attempt at making the Raiders Patriots West and then hiring Vrabel to basically do it again.

bill would be a HARD pill to swallow.

I can't think of something I would hate more than that.

I typed and erased that I’d rather have lane kiffin or Gruden back before bill. But I’m not sure that’s true. It’s close though.

So bienemy goes for KC OC to Wash PC to…raiders OC? I have to think his next move is a head coaching gig, no?
The whole point of him leaving KC to begin with was to prove himself essentially to get a HC job. If we keep AP and which means we should almost assuredly keep Graham, Graham will be a top candidate for HC assuming he doesn't get one this year.

Geebus.... you found one I would hate more. I am not sure there is a coach on this world I dislike more than Kiffin.

And daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang, if it is close for you and Gruden, that says a lot. Did you just see red and blacked out after typing his name to wake to your room being trashed?

From Rapoport:

The #Raiders are set to interview for their GM search #Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds and #Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray today, sources say. Interim GM Champ Kelly interviews tomorrow.Had Las Vegas hired a GM independent of the coach last time, it would've been Dodds. He's a top candidate.

At least we have a rough idea on timing. Other teams announcing hiring, it's important for the Raiders to not fall behind. Maybe a Monday announcement?

He's getting the GM thing sorted first. That's one move I agree with. I don't want a GM/coach not on the same team. Look at TEN. They effed a good thing. Really bad, actually.

I am guessing Kelly and AP is the easiest move to make. If we go Harbaugh, have to assume he's gonna want his guy at GM.

Consider:
  • Pretty well known that Champ was Mark's guy. He created a spot for him when McD insisted on Zeigler. I think it would be an upset if Kelly doesn't get it
  • BUT: Harbaugh goes way back with the Raiders. They HAVE to talk to him. He's Jim Harbaugh.
  • BUT: AP is a fan favorite, Mark has to know that. A massive one too. Check this out.
  • BUT: If Harbaugh comes in and wins the division, he knows Raider Nation will be fine. Oh, sure there will be some Rich Bisaccia truthers out in the Pacific, thinking the war is still going on, but for the most part, we will be on board.
  • BUT: I have serious questions about how long his routine will play. Do I want a guy trying to Belichick, or trying to Tomlin? I think I want a Tomlin.

This is a very complicated case. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head.

Hiring harbaugh goes against what mark has said he wants. There is no need for a GM at that point. Might as well hire alzado’s cousin. And the senior advisor position becomes useless as well. Who is harbaugh going to listen to?

i know he’s a good coach, but I don’t want him. I just want some f’ing stability. The D is the best it’s been in YEARS. the offensive pieces are there. They just need to be utilized correctly. I either want AP or a GM that is running the show and is the boss. Which means they bring in an inexperienced HC. :sigh:

I want AP as HC. He proved he can lead a bunch of alpha males and that takes a special person. I 100% don’t want Belicheck and don’t want Harbaugh even though he is a good coach. He rubs me the wrong way and will probably run himself out of town within 3 years. Davis needs to hire a GM that has a plan for building a team with Pierces vision.

The fanbase is very loud and oddly very in unison with this, even the media is on board, pretty much everyone is demanding to hire AP. I haven't seen Raider Nation this unified in a hire since we brought Woodson back.

JH is kind of a nerd , i cant see Peirce's locker room guys following a guy like that after AP`s aura has been so embraced . It kind of reminds me of the movie Rudy , when the coach the team loved left and the new guy came in and didnt care less about what the team thought . AP is one of the guys , but soooo respected and its mutual .

Even Jacobs is waiting to see what the team does , he said let the chips fall where they may , especially ,if its AP hes 100 % all in .
