2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Everyone is 0-0 ☠ (7 Viewers)

UDFA WR (UT 6'3" 200 4.5 40) Ramel Keyton made some noise today at camp with Devante away to attend the birth of his child. Played in a very limited Tenn offense, but made some plays, including some nice hands catches in his reel. Scouts suggest he is more fast than quick and that his catching ability is inconsistent.

WR depth chart is a bunch of tumbleweeds after Tre Tucker who apparently is having hands issues of his own this camp (but also made noise today). Raiders will carry at least 5 WR and right now, at least, the last two spots are wide open with pun fun.

Kid made some plays last season against 1st rd Alabama CB Terrion Arnold. And I like how he catches the ball with his hands away from his body. If the Raiders can develop dude's first step and routes, there is some clay here IMO. Once he gains steam, his spider monkey legs chew up field in swaths. At the very least, someone else to watch for this preseason.

Speaking of someone to watch for, Aiden freaking O'Connell made a lot more franchise QB throws last year than most of you remember. Plenty of rookie QB, dysfunctional OC, and busted OL plays happened in between the 13 minutes of this video, I know. But I'm thinking all three of those could/will be dramatically better in 2024...

Last night Hondo Carpenter reported that the QBs looked horrible in last night’s scrimmage versus the defense. He said the offense as a whole was bad and neither QB has separated them selves. RBs, Oline and TEs held their own while he seemed to put much of the blame on the QBs and the WRs not named Jakobi Meyers.
The sky isn’t falling and it should be expected that the defense is dominating early in camp. Jack Jones and IPA had INTs and it’s sounds like Tyree had a good day.

So I was checking up on some of my dynasty players and I noticed that Aiden O’Connell is now wearing #12
Did the Raiders really give him that number for the season or was he wearing as a tribute?

Hey FBG Raider bros,

We should do a FBG home league this year. $50 each seems like a good entry point...

Could we get 12 of us to join? If not, maybe six of us, and we invite six more from the Eagles or Steelers team threads, which are also highly active here.

Interested in $50 league. Do they allow for a Slow Draft? (If my wife hears I’m in another draft, she’ll string me up. Whereas Slow Drafts are nice and under the radar :) )

Yes, they are slow drafts. 4 hrs per pick...

In!

I've decided that I'm going to the opening game, got to start looking at prices but I'm already going to be in Orange County for the week so it's a no brainer to be there in person.

Hmm. Interest in the Raider-thread FBG league seems a bit tepid so far. Guessing 12 of us is a pipe dream, but how about six?

So far, we have:

- Me (LawFitz)
- Joey

If we can get four more, I'll present the idea to the Iggles thread. There's some passionate peeps in there as well. Stillers and Niners FBGs also quite active as alternatives.

cc: @Joe Bryant

Yeah, long suffering Raiders fans in this thread not showing up for this just yet.

Fellas…50 bucks. Slow draft so we can hide “yet another league” from our significant others. Compete with fellow Raiders suckers, er, fans. What more could we ask for? :)

I’d probably play if the draft lines up. My schedule is nuts this month

Based on the responses in the FBG Home Leagues thread, it sounds like their system is unable to handle assigning particular leagues for this purpose; and is instead just randomly assigning entrants to various leagues. So maybe we'll need to wait until next season for them to figure it out, unless they come up with a quicker fix.

@Joe Bryant - do you have any idea if the issues I'm noting here have a fix upcoming in the next couple weeks?

I'm not sure on that. Can you please shoot an email to customerservice@leaguesafe.com and let them know exactly what you want to do there. Thanks.

O'Connell and Minshew will get a quarter of playing time in Saturday's exhibition opener against the Vikings.

1st half preseason game thoughts:

Bowers lined up at TE, FB, and WR (no slot). Lined up as WR and FB for his 2 catches. I can't wait.
Jakobi looked great. Raiders have kinda sexy receiving options.
MInshew had all the work and most of the success, but he had two really bad plays, when he scrambled into pressure, the exact same way both times. Glaze was in at RT, Munford slid over to LT, and twice Glaze rode his man past the pocket, and twice Minshew scrambled right into the DE who Glaze was blocking. Just bad pocket instincts. He's a scrappy gamer, but it doesn't look like the game slows down for him, he gets a little panic-y.

I thought Glaze looked really good. No idea what kind of stiff she was facing, but he looked good.

On defense: .

Luke Masterson, Devonshire, and Chris Smith were responsible for that long TD run. I thought Amari Burney looked fast last summer, and he looks good again, so if Tommy Eichenberg is any good, Luke might be LB5 on this team. I didn't see Eichenberg at all in the first half.

Nesta Jade made a little play at NT, and I root for him, but man, he looks like a mini Jerry Ball, and I don't mean that in a good way. Looks a lot fatter than last summer.

Tyree Wilson is a human being who is employed by the team, and he appears to own a uniform.

Glaze has been making waves in camp. Going up against Maxx and not getting spanked which says a lot.

That is who Minshew is. He will make some really good plays and then he will make some horrible plays... there is almost no in-between.

I’m no rocket scientist, but that defense everyone has been hyping sure looked pretty uninspired. The offense as a whole looked better than the defense in the first half. Which surprised me. In a good way? I’m not sure yet….

Pierce is deciding on QB after next game.

Unless one is much better than the other, I think it's Minshew. He can move, and extend drives. If the blocking breaks down, he's a bet QB in that situation.

AOC is inexperienced, but he isn't young. If he was the long term answer, he should be winning the race outright.

I think opposite though I do have to admit I have not watched the game so far. So this is based on keeping on eye on camp news and looking at the stat line. I reserve the right to change after I do get a chance to watch the whole game.

Minshew is a guy that will be up and down- he WILL lose games for you without doubt though he might win some for you too. He is eradicate and can make really bad decisions. This is why he has bounced around the league. I think he is best used as a high end backup because if your starter comes in (specially if it is a guy like AOC) then Minshew can come in and wreck havoc with a defense that didn't really prepare for him all week.

AOC has the accuracy that I think Getsy wants. The offense is a run based offense (at least from what I saw from the Bears) and I think they will want to get the ball to our playmakers at WR, TE and to a lesser degree- RB and then let them do the work.

We also rolled out a not quite our Oline. Our left side wasn't there and we are not quite sure who will be at RT (Munford has the edge but Glaze has been making a push). If they have faith in the Oline then let them protect AOC and have him break down defenses with his accuracy.

I'm leaning toward thinking Minshew will start week 1. He comes with the probability of making some big mistakes, but I think it simply comes down to that he gives the offense a better chance to score more points than AOC. The defense could be very good, but in this day and age there really are no complete shut down defenses. Your defense can keep you in games, but your offense has to win them.

It's preseason, but Bo Nix looks more than the part. Remains to be seen whether he has the mental ability, toughness or intangibles, but physically speaking he looks eerily similar to Mahomes. His ability to move and throw lasers off-platform is off the charts.

I can't believe NE picked Maye ahead of this guy. Even funnier is the put Maye in #10. He looks like a carbon copy of Mac Jones out there, lol.

Other than the pass breakup in the end zone by Bennett and the INT by Jones, I thought the defense looked lackluster. The ones and twos gave up over 250 yards of offense, not good.
Special teams and offense looked great with a blocked FG and nice punt return by Tucker. The offense looked good when AOC and Minshew were out there. As soon as Brown took over, it was horrible.
If I had to guess, I’d say at this point in time Minshew has a slight lead over AOC, we’ll see how they do vs the Cowboys.

In 2023, then #Raiders GM Dave Ziegler had a deal in place to trade up for the 2nd overall pick to draft CJ STROUD & HC Josh McDaniels OVERRULED Ziegler.

Josh M. signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a 3-year, $72 million deal instead.

McDaniels literally ran this team into the ground. Ziegler will get another shot somewhere.

Worst coach ever.

Reading stories like this makes my blood boil. I’m glad Davis now has a conventional hierarchy in place. No matter what people think of Telesco, he’s the GM and won’t be overruled by AP.

It further strengthens the feeling that I had that many of the bad personnel decisions we made had McD behind them and not so much Ziegler. Telesco seems to have done a good job in getting the roster ready for the most part. The draft looks to be pretty solid draft and Christian at DT is huge. What is probably best about what Telesco has done is what he hasn't done in over spending in FA.

Also passing on Jalen Carter for Tyree Wilson is looking like a big mistake.

I think the Bowers pick was all Telesco and he’s the real deal. They’re going to see a huge contribution right away from him and he’ll only be limited by the QB play.

Finally watched the Vikings game. To my eye, minshew was the better of the two. It’ll be interesting to see this next game. Pass D looked awful. Every drag and crossing route was WIDE open. Tucker looked pretty good.

Anyone have a link to the video of Laube imitating Maxx? Sounds like it was funny and awesome but I can’t find it with the googles or youtubes.

News like this makes me sick. I would actually be looking forward to the season.

Raiders vs. Chiefs would have been incredible battles for years.

Damn, just spent the last bit watching clips of Tyree Wilson look mediocre against 2nd and 3rd string Vikings. Dude is slow as **** athletically, and simple as can be with his only 'skill' a bullrush. Worst is that this was 100% apparent from go in a Raider uniform first time I watched him last preseason. How was it not apparent from his predraft scouting tape? Once again, Raiders fall for hype over substance. :(

For him to look so uninspiring against backup OL, I would have zero issues if they trade him before final cuts in order to keep some actual NFL football players.

Eyeball test. He’s so slow to get going.
