2024 Las Vegas Raiders thread - Minsheeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww (6 Viewers)

You can feel the excitement for the upcoming year for the fans in this thread. ;)

Minshew Malaise?
Ain't that the truth. More talk about getting tix for the team than the team itself. I get it though...if you don't have a QB you don't have anything, yada, yada, yada.
I'd rather see O'Connell starting. Hard to tell what you're going to get from him though. Is he the QB that couldn't muster a point in one game and couldn't complete a pass in the last three quarters of another? Or is he the guy who threw 8 TDs and no picks in the last four games?
I'm leaning more towards the latter. I think he grew more comfortable the more he played and the results grew out of that. But they'll never know if they don't play him.
It's pretty clear what you've got with Minshew but I'm not sure where they pull the plug if he doesn't get hurt. I could see 'em 4-2 after six games...or 2-4. I think 2-4 you might see a change.
I'm actually pretty surprised it's Minshew starting. I saw O'Connell going into camp as kind of a heavyweight champion and a challenger generally needs to knock the champ out to get the title. Minshew certainly didn't do that. And if he won on points, it was damn close.
So I'd say Getsy had a large call in it being Minshew. He wants his QB to be mobile...just not as moble as Justin Fields. I am not high on Getsy at all. Very surprised he got the job.
Anyway, I've got em going 8-9 as it stands now and another 12-18 pick in the first round of the draft. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Agree for the most part. But I think AOC is mediocre at best. 67 year old Joe Flacco is the best comp I’ve got. And I’d rather have Flacco. The festival king brings a lot of rah rah to the team. Which AP is all about. Let's hope he can play well enough to not lose games. Sad to say really.

Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Malcolm Koonce was ruled out of the team’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday after sustaining a knee injury in practice, the team announced Thursday.

Coach Antonio Pierce didn’t share any details about how the injury occurred or the severity of it, but a league source said it is not believed to be serious and Las Vegas is being extra cautious because of the soft turf at Sofi Stadium, where Sunday’s game will be played.

Hope this is true.

Saw a tweet  that it’s a few weeks.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- "The Las Vegas Raiders placed starting defensive end Malcolm Koonce on injured reserve Saturday, two days after he suffered a knee injury in practice, and one day before the team's season opener at the Los Angeles Chargers. And while Koonce will have to miss at least four games, sources have said the injury could be season-ending."

How many tickets are you looking for? I’m looking for 4. We should work together. If I see anything I’ll let you know!
4-5 but still a bunch of unknowns at this point. **** I don't even fly down til Friday afternoon so I'm guessing that I'll be able to get more straight answers then.
Update?
we took a vote and it’s gonna be hot as **** and decided no
Smart! We’ll wallow in satan’s taint for you. It’s gonna be hella hot. 2022 was like this. It was ungood. We snuck into the club for the AC. I expect we’ll do the same tomorrow.

I hope this is a blip and not showing how the rest of the season will go.

Wilson will have to step up. He will have his opportunities as no one is going to pay attention to him as they try to slow Wilkins and Crosby down. I am wondering if they will put Robinson in on obvious passing downs.

Minshew isn't very good and has a mediocre arm.

This team, like the Steelers, wins with defense and mistake free offense. Right now one of them isn't holding up their end.

Sad how good 2024 Raider D is (finally) and how bad the O is.

Receivers, including TEs are great. The RBs, and way more importantly, QB and OL are trash. Manchew is Jimmy Grop with a bit more mobility.

Your D was scary. Might have got worn down a bit in the 2nd half.

Add a quality qb somehow next season and you'll be really unfun to play against.

Gonna waste Maxx's peak years.

Shoulda tanked for Caleb/Jayden.
You obviously didn't watch the Bears game. He looked very Justin Fieldish.... but granted, it is his first game in his rookie season so he likely will improve.
I did actually and some of the Commanders game too where Daniels looked mid. Whatever. Taking a chance is better than Gardner Minshew.

We would be thrilled right now with what the Bears managed to pull off today.

#### at least put Aiden O'Connell in.

I love signing Wilkins, he was #1 by a wide margin on all our free agents wish lists. But why do that and not back it up on offense?

And the very early returns on the coaching staff after a full off-season read like amateur hour.

Punt on 4th and one inside the opponents 50 (43) in a one score game and less than 3 minutes remaining. Seriously?

I love the defense too but that was a turtle maneuver.

Gear up for a long season where we hope, but most won't say out loud, they don't do better than 6-11 because at least that may provide a top 10 draft pick in a...questionable QB draft.

Hooray.

Minshew 's stat line belies his mediocrity.

25 of 33 (75%) for 257 yards (7.8), one TD, one Int and just about the worst fumble I have seen in a professional football game.

And he was so much less than his stat line.

Sorry, I pride myself on choosing not to take a negative stance as much as possible. I hate how I feel when I'm being negative.

But, #### it, there is zero point to this season for the Raiders. A wasted year. There will be some high points, maybe a big upset or two but, when the dust settles we'll have another mid draft position, a thin roster and no hope at a franchise QB.

And the defense looks so strong, even missing key parts. What a waste.

I have no idea who the college QBs allegedly worth having are at this point, but better to go after that guy than another year of what this season is clearly going to turn out to be.

Only a matter of time until AOC is starting. Minshew is dreadful. He doesn't trust his arm (not throwing a number of easy quick reads to open guys) and he didn't even use his legs effectively.

He's bad, bad.
