2025 Detroit Lions: 0-0 Draft, FAs, trades? (29 Viewers)

While I'm sure they picked Sewell's brain a bit on Thibodeaux, I doubt them playing together is going to be the deciding factor on anything.  They played together one year.  🤷‍♂️

That could be a hedge on Hutch going before the Lions pick.

Now Walker is predicted going to the Jags at #1.

I like Hutch, but why am I not sold on him a #2?  sell me.

Latest CBS draft has Hutch falling to #9

I think Holmes & Co have gone a good job disguising their intentions.

Man I can’t wait for TC & Hard Knocks. Gonna be great PR & everyone else is gonna see what we do. They’re doing this rebuild the right way IMO. Building off last years strong finish it feels like they should be able to win 7-9 games. Which means  playing meaningful games in December for the first time in five years.

Who are you sold on at #2?

I Don`t know.

Usually there is a stud QB at 1-2 but this year that is not the case. I don`t want them to take Hamilton at 2 though.

I was watching video on Hutch and Thibby last night.  Thibby seems more like a Von Miller type of DE, Hutch has the non-stop motor.

Safe pick is Hutch,  more upside with possible downside is Thibby.

I am sure Holmes barring a trade already knows who he is going to take.

32 seems like a prime trade out to someone that wants one of the QBs that fall in order to get the 5th year option.  I'm hoping they can get some value there.

Don’t read so much into my post, I was just spitballing that I think they might take Thibo if Hutch is taken at 1 and verbalised some thoughts going through my head. As BobbyLayne also says I think the front office have done a good job of not giving anything away and the chat on Thibo has been close to zero. Feint that you may take a QB and who knows maybe someone will phone you after Jac has picked

No big deal, your post implied (to me at least) that them playing on the same team in college was a prime factor.  They've spent a lot of time and manpower on Thibodeaux though, so it could easily be him.  I'd rather have Hutchinson personally if he's there and if not I'd probably swallow hard and take Walker.  I'm not sold on Thibodeaux, but I know nothing compared to Holmes, scouts, etc.

Well Mike Valenti is all over Thibby, so that makes him a bust for sure.  I saw Valenti in downtown Birmingham a couple weeks ago with Rico.  they both are little fat butterballs.

I think the best thing Lions have going is picking right behind JAX the first 3 rounds. The same braintrust that thought Urban Meyer would be a good hire.

Matt Corral might be better than what is available to DET in 2023. He's mobile, has a quick release, decent arm, could sit behind Goff for a year.

Need to remember Sewell played with Thibo at college. Got to think Thibo is the pick if Hutch is taken, despite the chatter of Thibo falling in recent times. I’d back this coaching group to draw out whatever any of his perceived negative traits are, and I think they themselves would as well

Detroit Lions' Penei Sewell: Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux 'has it all' (freep.com)

Kayvon Thibodeaux sees chance at greatness with Penei Sewell reunion (detroitnews.com)

Notes: Kayvon Thibodeaux sought NFL advice from Lions’ Penei Sewell - Pride Of Detroit

I think Sewell's opinion on Thibodeaux will carry some weight  with Holmes.

I think all the QBs are going before their worth just because they are QBs. My favorite draft would be all defense in the 1st, then a WR in either the 2nd or 3rd with the others still defense. 3rd day take some dart throws on offense than can at least be depth pieces. 🎯

I think Lions best chance for a trade down is if Jags take one of the OTs with their pick. Houston and Giants both need OL and Giants may have a preference.

What I dont like about this draft is the Packers having so many early picks. They may have to package some to move up and get the WR of their choice though there is a lot of talk of them going defense in round 1.

Packers will continue to rule the roost for another couple of years, but their time is coming.

To follow up with actual names, Skyy Moore of Western Michigan might be a good way to lead off day 2 at pick #34. Huge hands and ankle breaking moves.

Hutch graded out a lot better last year against tougher competition. He seems more versatile - speed rush or bull rush. From what I’ve seen Thibby’s game is more about beating his man to the spot, and he does look very explosive at times.

We are debating Hutch or Thibby..

With the #2 the Lions select............Malik Willis..QB from Liberty and Justice for All!

I just can’t see Willis or any QB at 2, unless we have traded down with a crazy team. I trust our GM more then others in the past

Aidan Hutchinson: "To the city, just know I'm going to give it my all. ... It was the Lions all the way. The whole draft process, I wanted them to pick me."

Seems like a great kid from a good family. Best defensive player in the country last year & we need to draft as many as practical for Aaron Glen.

Even though I kept hearing Walker would go No. 1, I had convinced myself the Lions weren't getting Hutch. I'm pretty happy, mostly based on the seemingly perfect fit with Campbell. Still, none of this stuff will matter until they get a franchise QB.

First we were getting Hutchinson as Jax was going OT then we weren't getting Hutchinson as Jax was taking him and then that changed to Jax going Walker.

Hutch can anchor DL and Sewell can anchor OL.

My definite impression is that Jamison Williams did not look happy to be picked by Lions based on the attempted interview of him on NFL Network.

Jameson Williams' longest receptions per game: 94, 18, 29, 81, 26, 32, 75, 65, 58, 50, 79, 34, 67, 20, 40.

8 games with a reception over 50 yards;

6 games with a reception over 65 yards.

I hope you’re wrong. Would like to think Holmes did his homework on the guy.  Passing up Davis and Hamilton for a WR that hates Detroit would be a huge issue.
He's my #1 WR, even after the ACL tear. And there are a lot of great WR in this draft. I was hoping the Lions would draft Skyy Moore in round 2, but I like this pick better.

He is the best deep threat in the draft and he is fast as ####. I really like his game.

Definitely Lions are not going QB which is fine with me. Maybe a 6th round flyer. Still have holes at LB  and safety to fill with their 2nd round and 3rd round picks. And need DL as well. Not enough picks to fill all needs.

But may have gotten best defensive player and best WR with first two picks.

Maybe he thought he was going to be catching rockets from Mahomes or Rodgers.

I expect the FA focus after the 2022 offseason is to invest heavily in defense since it’s still incredibly weak. Will need all 2023 draft picks available to land a QB that can get the ball to a Williams. Goff does not have that ability.

Think you may be right here. Right now we do not know how QB is going to be addressed but Lions continue to build a solid team with difference makers. We need to continue to be patient next year.

I love ❤️   what Detroit did tonight.

Hutch should be tremendous, Howie Long, maybe Chris Long but probably more like Howie, like him a lot.

Jameson Williams was the best WR in this Draft Class, bar none. You all got him 4th off the board? Did Atlanta really take the Drake at 8? Oh nellie did you all pull one off here.

I liked Williams to be the top WR pick and thought he might get taken Top 5-10, great move by Detroit.

32 and 34 to move up to 12...they also sent 66 and got back 46

32-34....moved up to 12 from 32, move up from 66 to 46 and for all that you lose No 34? That's one way to look at that trade and then you get the best WR in the Draft Class?

"A"  :thumbup:
