While I'm sure they picked Sewell's brain a bit on Thibodeaux, I doubt them playing together is going to be the deciding factor on anything. They played together one year.

I'm not an expert on these things but Hutch is rated #1 by a lot of people who spend a lot of time on this. Now Walker is predicted going to the Jags at #1.
I like Hutch, but why am I not sold on him a #2? sell me.
Who are you sold on at #2?Now Walker is predicted going to the Jags at #1.

No one this year unfortunately.A trade down for extra picks would also be nice. But who really wants to trade up to #2?
Don’t read so much into my post, I was just spitballing that I think they might take Thibo if Hutch is taken at 1 and verbalised some thoughts going through my head. As BobbyLayne also says I think the front office have done a good job of not giving anything away and the chat on Thibo has been close to zero. Feint that you may take a QB and who knows maybe someone will phone you after Jac has pickedWhile I'm sure they picked Sewell's brain a bit on Thibodeaux, I doubt them playing together is going to be the deciding factor on anything. No big deal, your post implied (to me at least) that them playing on the same team in college was a prime factor. They've spent a lot of time and manpower on Thibodeaux though, so it could easily be him. I'd rather have Hutchinson personally if he's there and if not I'd probably swallow hard and take Walker. I'm not sold on Thibodeaux, but I know nothing compared to Holmes, scouts, etc.Don’t read so much into my post, I was just spitballing that I think they might take Thibo if Hutch is taken at 1 and verbalised some thoughts going through my head. Matt Corral might be better than what is available to DET in 2023. He's mobile, has a quick release, decent arm, could sit behind Goff for a year.32 seems like a prime trade out to someone that wants one of the QBs that fall in order to get the 5th year option. I'm hoping they can get some value there.
If we go for a QB there I personally hope it's RidderMatt Corral might be better than what is available to DET in 2023. He's mobile, has a quick release, decent arm, could sit behind Goff for a year.
Detroit Lions' Penei Sewell: Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux 'has it all' (freep.com)TartanLion said:Need to remember Sewell played with Thibo at college. Got to think Thibo is the pick if Hutch is taken, despite the chatter of Thibo falling in recent times. I’d back this coaching group to draw out whatever any of his perceived negative traits are, and I think they themselves would as well
What I dont like about this draft is the Packers having so many early picks. They may have to package some to move up and get the WR of their choice though there is a lot of talk of them going defense in round 1.I think the best thing Lions have going is picking right behind JAX the first 3 rounds. The same braintrust that thought Urban Meyer would be a good hire.
Packers will continue to rule the roost for another couple of years, but their time is coming. What I dont like about this draft is the Packers having so many early picks. To follow up with actual names, Skyy Moore of Western Michigan might be a good way to lead off day 2 at pick #34. Huge hands and ankle breaking moves.I think all the QBs are going before their worth just because they are QBs. My favorite draft would be all defense in the 1st, then a WR in either the 2nd or 3rd with the others still defense. 3rd day take some dart throws on offense than can at least be depth pieces.![]()
Hutch graded out a lot better last year against tougher competition. He seems more versatile - speed rush or bull rush. From what I’ve seen Thibby’s game is more about beating his man to the spot, and he does look very explosive at times.I Don`t know.
Usually there is a stud QB at 1-2 but this year that is not the case. I don`t want them to take Hamilton at 2 though.
I was watching video on Hutch and Thibby last night. Thibby seems more like a Von Miller type of DE, Hutch has the non-stop motor.
Safe pick is Hutch, more upside with possible downside is Thibby.
I am sure Holmes barring a trade already knows who he is going to take.

That would be a surprise. They certainly had a chance to see him up close. We are debating Hutch or Thibby..
With the #2 the Lions select............Malik Willis..QB from Liberty and Justice for All!
First we were getting Hutchinson as Jax was going OT then we weren't getting Hutchinson as Jax was taking him and then that changed to Jax going Walker.Even though I kept hearing Walker would go No. 1, I had convinced myself the Lions weren't getting Hutch. I'm pretty happy, mostly based on the seemingly perfect fit with Campbell. Still, none of this stuff will matter until they get a franchise QB.
getting 46 really balanced it outThe Lions ripped off the Vikings in that trade. Holy ####!
My impressionj is that Jamison Williams did not look happy to be picked by Lions.
Could be any of those but I'll fall into the not happy category for now.
Or he’s pissed 3 WRs went in front of him
(or he’s super shy / or overwhelmed /or who knows)
ballsy move by Holmes, moving up 20 spots is friggin’ amazing
I hope you’re wrong. Would like to think Holmes did his homework on the guy. Passing up Davis and Hamilton for a WR that hates Detroit would be a huge issue.Could be any of those but I'll fall into the not happy category for now.
He's my #1 WR, even after the ACL tear. And there are a lot of great WR in this draft. I was hoping the Lions would draft Skyy Moore in round 2, but I like this pick better.I hope you’re wrong. Would like to think Holmes did his homework on the guy. Passing up Davis and Hamilton for a WR that hates Detroit would be a huge issue.
He is the best deep threat in the draft and he is fast as ####. I really like his game.Jameson Williams' longest receptions per game: 94, 18, 29, 81, 26, 32, 75, 65, 58, 50, 79, 34, 67, 20, 40.
8 games with a reception over 50 yards;
6 games with a reception over 65 yards.
Maybe he thought he was going to be catching rockets from Mahomes or Rodgers.I hope you’re wrong. Would like to think Holmes did his homework on the guy. Passing up Davis and Hamilton for a WR that hates Detroit would be a huge issue.
Think you may be right here. Right now we do not know how QB is going to be addressed but Lions continue to build a solid team with difference makers. We need to continue to be patient next year.I expect the FA focus after the 2022 offseason is to invest heavily in defense since it’s still incredibly weak. Will need all 2023 draft picks available to land a QB that can get the ball to a Williams. Goff does not have that ability.
