Baltimore is a very good team.
They are. Their defense hasn't looked like its usual self, but that might be due to Detroit and Buffalo on their schedule. Tall orders.

Great offenses in today's league are nearly impossible to stop. I doubt we ever see a 1984 Bears like performance on defense.Baltimore is a very good team.

You guys were awesome out there and look fully on board to avenge that playoff fluke against Washington. I remember after the 2023 season when my Texans were mentioned in the same breath as the Lions - franchises on the up and dark horse Super Bowl contenders. How quickly times have changed![]()
The Washington game was not a fluke. Detroit fielded players on defense who had no business being on the field due to the worst plague of injuries on defense ever. A good QB looks all-world against a pitiful defense. That was not a shocking loss.
Hank Fraley is doing an incredible job with this line. Retaining him was the most important move they made on their coaching staff. I would have given him a game ball. After 3 weeks, the Lions OL ranks 3rd in PBLK and 3rd in RBLK.

Browns D is good, but Pack O-line had injuries, and the Bengals O-Line is simply not good.
Browns played both Nati and GB at home so going up against the top O-Line on the road will be a big test. The Ravens got an assist from a blocked punt, an INT, and a fumble recovery against the Browns-D. Score was misleading to how well they played.

Heard 2025 would be a massive regression for them now that Ben Johnson left. The IOL is a catastrophe and nobody can generate pressure besides Hutch (who gets double/triple teamed every down.)

Penei Sewell had a game for the record books in Week 3, earning a 99.3 PFF run-blocking grade, which is the highest single-game PFF run-blocking grade in the PFF era (since 2006) among those with 10 or more snaps.

“LaPorta caught it, but only because Rock Ya Sun, Jacob Sayers & Terrion Arnold had good blocks in that play…which nobody will ever notice.”
everybody loves that old clip of Dolphins TE Coach screaming “BLOCK FOR HIM. Please.” but misses the comeback later in the game where the same does make a block & MCDC is hyping him up.
love how in his media appearances Coach Campbell actually listens & gives thoughtful answers, is never dismissive - doesn’t matter if it’s Carlos M or whomever, always treats those guys with patience & respect

It's been three games.
Let's not forget they did lose to GB just two weeks ago. And maybe Baltimore isn't who we all thought they were. They sure don't appear to be.
It's a long season. I wouldn't go patting yourself on the back quite yet. The Lions played a near flawless game. Maybe their best under this regime.

Washington was a 10 point underdog. I guess we can agree to disagree but that's a big upset in my book.

Opening odds for this game have been very reactive to the results as they happened. Last week the spread was Browns +10.5, but quickly dropped to +8.5 after the Packers/Browns game. Then after the Ravens/Lions game it bumped back up to +9.5. Seems like a dangerous game considering Cleveland's solid defense and a possible MNF hangover for Detroit. As usual I'll take any sort of win and let others demand

I am not one who gives weight into conventional/majority wisdom. As much as a Lions homer as I am, I knew the defense the Lions fielded was not strong enough to win playoff games. The majority of the starting defense was practice squad fodder some of which was picked up off the streets a few weeks before. The loss hurt, but I was not disappointed or surprised.
Agree there is too much tunnel vision in this thread and a lack of tolerance for others thoughts and opinions.Dan Campbell Tuesday afternoon presser

We all want the same thing for this team. I don't recall anyone saying there would be a MASSIVE regression. That the interior line was a CATASTROPHE.
Some, including myself, did say nobody can generate pressure outside of Hutch. They've shown they can. Fantastic.
That doesn't change my view about a need for an edge opposite Hutch.
In the end, having a different opinion doesn't warrant this condescending tone.
Yeah I am not betting the side either. If I was going to make a bet, the under 44.5 looks more attractive.Opening odds for this game have been very reactive to the results as they happened. Apparently the updated odds don't seem to agree with me that this could be a close game. Lions now -10, -535 on the money line.
And/or a big Gibbs game. Especially after Monty showed up big Monday night. Can easily see Gibbs busting a few big plays. This feels like a Jamo big play touchdown game. Very good and aggressive defense gets burned on a double move or a reverse.
Why do you say things like this? I just moved Jamo to my bench and now I’m thinking about it again…This feels like a Jamo big play touchdown game. Very good and aggressive defense gets burned on a double move or a reverse.
He's on my bench as well. Not sure Goff will have enough time to go deep. I see dump offs to Gibbs or short passes to ARB & LaPortaWhy do you say things like this? Lol, my fault. It feels like the skill positions take turns going off after ARSB and Gibbs. Montgomery was last week, so this week has to be Laporta or Jamo. Excellent news for Lions fans. AQM was obviously a huge contributor to their 7 sack day vs Lamar.
Muhammad looks to be the missing piece in the DL. When McNeil comes back the Lions will have a very formidable DL who will dominate the line of scrimmage and blow up the pocket. The Lions vision when Brad and Dan came in was to build a championship caliber team in 3 years. They delivered. The best offense in the NFL, and I think their defense is coming to the point where they will be a top 10 defense. Detroit defense has studs at every level.

Come on. Muhammad had a great game, but he is a 30 year old journeyman. You said the same thing about James Houston a couple of years ago. Could he be a decent rotation piece? Maybe, but he isn't the missing piece opposite Hutch.
You are also being unfair to McNeil. That was a serious knee injury and it isn't fair to expect him to be Alim. Best case he is 90 of what he was by the playoffs and fully back to his pro bowl/all pro next year.

You guys know I like Detroit. I think they win this game. I doubt they're running the ball well. Only thing that gives me pause is Maliek Collins in the Cleveland DI. He's got a great pass rush grade. Outstanding. But what is their DI like against Detroit's run? Mason Graham, Maliek Collins, Adin Huntington. Holy smoke and oh boy.

When your team stinks and always stinks there is the consolation prize of just appreciating the league and getting to maybe check out some real teams, hall of famers, all-pros, and whatever else you want to even if it detracts a bit from your knowledge of your own team and matchup.
As soon as they reported that an entitled, seventeen year-old nepo baby of the owner had our GM saying, "I answer to a teenager" I just freaking quit. I already had anyway, but now I won't even waste three or four hours on it. Not even half an hour, really, unless there's a fantasy football reason.
Not until the owner and his kid die; and I'm not outlasting the kid, most likely, so **** it and **** giving that sack of bones any time or money.

Heh. That would be cool. No, I pull for you guys but the Jets, unless they are defunct, are my team. It's not really a choice for me for some reason. If I could change it I think I would have long ago. No, sometimes we do with the lot we're given.
Thanks for the advice, but I just can't do it.
