2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ New innovation on being a **** show ☠ (14 Viewers)

Wonder if the Raiders tried to get Wilkins to use cryotherapy? Maybe same clinic AB went to?
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “the Raiders voided the remaining $35.2 million of guaranteed money left on Wilkins’ contract last month.” The Raiders’ decision is reportedly “due to how Wilkins treated the rehab from his foot injury he suffered last season.” He signed a four-year, $110 million contract with the team last offseason, but appeared in just five games before suffering the season-ending injury. He totaled 14 tackles, nine quarterback pressures and two sacks while active. Wilkins reportedly filed a grievance with the NFLPA today. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport adds that the team asked Wilkins to undergo surgery to correct the injury but Wilkins declined.
He already had surgery and wanted to avoid a 2nd surgery, I wouldn't want to voice a lot of anger at Wilkins, other veteran players have a limit on the number of surgeries they can go thru
Terron Armstead for the Dolphins had a limit while he was playing, they opted to sit him most of the time at practice to counter his pain management

BTW: Wilkins made $49.5M for the 5 games he played in a Raiders uniform.
You and I have no idea what the current health is of Wilkins, I know PUP for the moment but we have no idea what the 2nd surgery vs what Wilkins thought was a better path for him
He might still collect his $34M owed to him, Wilkins did quite well signing with the Raiders

I feel no sympathy for the team or Wilkins, it's not personal, it's business

I can’t help but think that cutting Wilkinson is evidence that Mork is cash strapped. Yes, I know he has that big, new stadium that is supposedly a cash cow. If that is the case why has he sold over 25% of the team the past few years?

If you look at how the team has reacted to some of the high priced contracts through that lens, things seem to make sense. Signing, then cutting Garopollo in one season. Botching Carr’s release and receiving zero compensation. Now Wilkinson.

Granted they signed Max to a big deal. But maybe that pushed Mork’s budget to the limit(?)

If Wilkins signs elsewhere and tears it up, that will just add fuel to my hypothesis.
You thinking cutting Jimmy "Noddle Arm" G was a cash flow decision? Really? No, seriously, really?

Carr was botched for sure but that seemed more like ineptitude than anything.

Wilkinson is interesting but it feels more like looking for an opportunity to move on from him with an ejection on the contract that had a chance to make it not hurt as much. It is a huge gamble to take if you were just looking to save cash flow because if he wins... ouch.
Getting rid of the dreamboat was not a financial decision.

Carr and his agent had the raiders by the short hairs. And they correctly decided to move on.

Wilkinson is being portrayed as a non compliant. Doesn’t seem solely money driven

And have you seen the valuations? The raiders have skyrocketed in value since the Vegas move.

This team needs a new direction and driving mantra to guide them. Perhaps a commitment to striving to get better.

Foot injuries are very complicated and most doctors advise surgery as a last option because there is a fairly high rate of failure vs other types of surgeries
You rarely hear abut an ACL surgery gone wrong these days, we still see folks cringe when discussing a Lisfranc injury.

8-12 week injury initially for Wilkins? Surgery in October, he should have been well on his road to full recovery, something went wrong with the surgery is my guess, there should not have been a need for a 2nd one, I understand Wilkins POV and I also understand the Raiders POV, they spent a lot of money for just 5 games, they are not exactly getting off light for this free agent signing.

Stupid callback joke aside, I too don’t hold the Wilkins signing against them or think it was a bad move. I loved it at the time and think it pays dividends if he doesn’t get hurt.

But he did. And then he didn’t rehab as needed. And here we are. Moving on….

Starting hear that Carroll wants Jamal Adams to play inside linebacker

*If you believe what you read on X/Twitter

Also Sincere McCormick
🤣🤣🤣 wrong thread obviously
What round did we draft Krasnodar again? Yet another Raiders bad pick.

I was sniffing around on Titans Reddit looking for some LB talk, and came across a whining session from their fans that the team cut Keondre Coburn.

Name sounded vaguely familiar....oh, he's the guy we signed to replace Wilkins. Turns out Coburn was cut to make room for Jihad Ward. Name sounded vaguely familiar...oh, he's the DT the Raiders reached for back in 2016. The team traded him for Ryan Switzer (?) after two seasons, I assume after yet another coaching change, and he has carved out a nice little career for himself.

So anyways.....Jalen Carter.

Jihad Ward. Name sounded vaguely familiar...oh, he's the DT the Raiders reached for back in 2016

Wanna know why they reached for Ward? It was a well-spoken not so secret they wanted to draft Chris Jones with the 2nd rounder they used on Ward, but the Chiefs took Jones to fat Reggie's dismay a few picks earlier. So Reg swooped on the prospect DT closest in attributes to Jones, even though Ward was widely graded a mid rounder.

Guess who went one pick later in that 2nd round after Ward?... (King) Derrick Henry. Despite only having Lat Murray, Jalen Richard and Deandre Washington as their RBs that year, the team went onto their best season since the early 2000s until Daverick Carr spiral fractured his leg and career in the waning moments of a week 16 win where King Henry would have come in handy.

The above led to the eventual demise of Jack of the Rio and hiring of Chuck Gruden, who went on to draft (not King) Henry Ruggs III, who went on to plow his car into any chance of the Raiders selecting Jalen Carter.

But hey, at least they were able to land Keon Cobrun out of that deal.

To be fair Latavius was a 3rd year RB coming off a pro bowl season.

Hey, it's not Henry Ruggs fault fans couldn't look three months into the future, where no one gave a sh!t about the car thing.

Right here in this very forum.
The Ruggs pick was horrible because Lamb was available. We could spend days rehashing all the bad draft and FA decisions.

Everytime it comes up it becomes more revisionist.

According to everyone Ruggs was a top three WR coming out along with Jeudy and CeeDee and CeeDee was by no means considered a sure thing.

Ruggs is an unfortunate unknown and will always remain that way, all we know is he was putting up virtually identical numbers to CeeDee and significantly better numbers than Jeudy in year 2 before the tragedy.

Football wise, I think Ruggs was on a trajectory to be a very good pick. We will never know now but I think he would have ended up clearly superior to Jeudy in the least. The people who wanted Jeudy or Lamb point to what happened and say "I told you so" and that is just silly. There was nothing at the time of draft to indicate that he was an off field risk. Sometimes things happen.

You guys missed the point entirely, which simply connected Jihad Ward to Jalen Carter via Ruggs, among others. All in jest more than not. Lots of Raider PTSD in here!

From the moment the pick was made I called him old spice and said it was the wrong decision. It’s on this board. Turribel. And I say that outside his killing that woman

That's all I got... haha

Schefter reported that there was a locker room incident where Wilkins tried to kiss a player on the head.

Question: Is it entirely unreasonable to take Jeanty at #4 overall in a single QB, PPR redraft league?

Better question: How insane are the people picking 1, 2 & 3 if they don't draft Jeanty?

A) Bughouse Loco
B) Crazy insane
C) Eating canned tuna in the movie theater with MoP sitting behind you

Was his tongue involved ?
My guess was that he wasn't wearing pants at the time of his advance

Such a weird situation. Florio alluding to some smarmy rumors going around that the kiss on the forehead was essentially a euphemism for something a lot more inappropriate. This is the same dude who's been grabbing opponents' junk on field since his college days. The SMDH part of this for me is that you don't pay a guy the money they paid him without thoroughly vetting this stuff beforehand. His contract should've been reserved for only the most impeccable characters. Perhaps this is why TT got fired.
