2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Everyone is 0-0 ☠ (14 Viewers)

What if Michael Mayer was away from the Raiders for his pure displeasure of Getsy?

It would be like the episode of The Office where Michael wants to get ready of Toby, but is told they can't fire him without cause.
I have visions of, in the hands of a capable head coach, OC and QB, Bowers and Mayer being Gronk/Hernandez lite.
2010:
Gronk 42/546/10
Hernandez 45/563/6
2011:
Gronk 90/1327/17
Hernandez 79/910/7
2012:
Gronk 55/790/11
Hernandez 51/483/5

I'd even, gulp, sign McDaniels up for OC if he could make something similar happen. Can you imagine him drawing his HC salary on top of an OC salary with the Raiders? :ROFLMAO:
No. Like everything about this,,,NO
You wouldn't want Mayer & Bowers to become statistically similar to the heyday of Gronk & Hernandez?

I'm all for tanking for the #1 pick but not, like forever.
It was an over reaction to the mcdaniels part
Dude... how about a Trigger Warning next time?

;)

I’m looking to pick up Z White in a couple of redraft leagues where he’s sitting in the wire and I need RB help.

Who knows if they go back to the well with him and run a scheme that makes him excel again.

Worth a chance if there are no better options imo.
Depends.

The Raiders also fired the Offensive line coach , he ran a zone blocking scheme , if they get away from that than Z would probably look like he did at the end of last season.

Well, I guess the only information we have is Scott Turner may run a variation of Norv's scheme. Anyone know what kind of scheme that was?

Getsy must be a hell of an interview.
We were desperate and late to the party. We banked on Kingsbury and by the time he bailed most first rate options were gone.
You don't want Kingsbury anyway. Heard a great stat this morning on the way to work. Almost all the teams he has coached, in the second half of the season, have a winning percentage of something like .400.

From an article in 2022:

Dating back to his first year as head coach of Texas Tech in 2013, Kingsbury is now 17-45 from Game 8 of a season onward.

For Games 1-7, he’s 42-20-1.

It is an undeniable fact that Kingsbury’s teams underperform once the halfway point of the season hits, which does not bode well for the potential success of one in the postseason

Will be interesting to see how that Washington offense performs the rest of this year, but the last few weeks have been rough there.

Norv was originally an "Air Coryell" guy, i.e., vertical passing attack. However, he has been an offensive coach in the NFL for ~35 years; I'm sure he has an ability to adapt to personnel and situation. That said, it's week 11. I assume the Raiders won't be installing a new offense at this point, just trying to do a better job within the current scheme, with minor adjustments.

According to data from Yahoo Sports, only a very small percentage of NFL starters come from the 6th and 7th rounds of the draft, with estimates suggesting that less than 5%of starting players league-wide are drafted in those rounds; this is because the vast majority of starting players are selected in the first few rounds, with a significant portion also coming from undrafted free agents.
Starters schmarters. We need depth too, I'm sick of clowns like Luke Masterson being our first line of defense when Diablo twists his pinkynail. Our biggest liability is we put guys on the field that don't belong on an NFL roster, very few other teams have to call on those guys.

I'd like to introduce you to our current winning percentage. Besides we weren't looking at him for HC, he was our OC candidate until he backed out.

Sorry, but any victory RoS is counterproductive to the future of the franchise.
Disagree 100%. Wins against any division foes set a tempo. We play hard, we kick your *** when we can. 75% of this roster will be back next year and I want all of them remembering putting the screws to every one of our rivals.

How much value did the Raiders realize from beating the Chiefs last year? Zero.

I am thrilled with Bowers but that win may have cost them a shot at Penix or Nix.

Pride is foolish and also counterproductive. This franchise will continue to rot until they finally land a franchise QB.

Having a top pick guarantees nothing except a chance at solving that problem. It gives true hope going into next year far more than any stupid, spoiler pyrrhic victory. Aren't we all tired AF with that role?

I wouldn't trade Bowers for either of those guys right now. If we had wanted either QB we could easily have traded up, clearly our FO decided they weren't our answer. We don't even know if a higher pick would have been a QB - maybe Telesco still goes Bowers at 7 or 9 or w/e we would have drafted? I wouldn't have faulted that at all, the only QB I would prefer over him would have been Caleb/Daniels/JJM.

And maybe being able to offer the #7-9 pick (and a shot at Penix or Nix) instead of #13 would have been enough to get Washington to give up #2. Who knows?

What I do know is Bowers won't win the Raiders anything now or in the future so long as they continue trotting out the Minshews and Garoppolos of the world.

They didn't get a QB last year and it couldn't be more important to try and get that guy this year.

And the players aren't tanking, AP isn't tanking but I am hoping they keep stacking losses. Winning now is short sighted.

Speaking of Garoppolo, I'm in LA and went into a local deli in Santa Monica and, hand to God I saw a dude walking around in a Raiders #10 Garoppolo jersey.

I immediately went and told him that he wins being a committed Raiders fan.

I mean.... Santa Monica isn't too far from West Hollywood, maybe he was not really a Raiders fan and more of a Jimmy Limp Noodle G fan? As @DA RAIDERS will remind us... he is dreamy.

Hard to say about Penix yet but Nix feels like a QB a franchise has for several years.... isn't absolutely horrible but isn't good either.... eventually the franchise moves on without him and he becomes a journeyman borer line backup/starter.

This was the sentiment that I was going to share. I don’t want our players or coaches to quit at all. Keep fighting. Keep competiting. Set the “never say die” attitude as a culture of the team.

BUT…I’m totally happy if they do all of the above and DON’T win any more games.

Carr? :lmao:
Did you see that the giants are doing exactly what the raiders did with Carr regarding the injury clause. If you’re going to move on it’s just good business.

Bad form my friend.

He is dreamy though

Yea, the Giants are the model franchise. 🙂

It makes more sense than someone buying a Jimmy G jersey because they were excited about him being a Raider.

 not now that he is on the Rams, would make more sense to rock one of those in LA if the person is a Jimmy G fan.

speaking of former niner qb 's I was shocked Trey Lance didn't get in the game last night. He must be really bad if even we didn't try and pursue him.

The Positive Takeaways From Raiders' Disappointing Season

Story by Michael Canelo

The Las Vegas Raiders are in the middle of a six-game losing streak. The Raiders have played with a poor offense all season and injuries. No excuses are coming out of the Raiders building and defensive end Maxx Crosby said they are now playing for pride, sitting at 2-8.

There is no silver lining for the Raiders' disappointing season. It is a result-based business in the National Football League.

The Raiders have young talent going into next season and they are going to see the young players on the field more, due to the injuries. Young players will get the chance to play for their future.

Our Hondo Carpenter talked about the good for the Raiders this season on a recent episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast.

"This is a group of guys, where there is no finger pointing and there is no quit," said Carpenter. "They just keep battling. "You saw in Miami, they continued to battle and fight and scratch. If you are a Raider fan, the thing that I think you want to watch for, is guys quitting. That tells you, that your franchise is in a lot of trouble because that speaks to the character of the men getting paychecks ... I mean you see guys in the fourth quarter, it is a one-score game and still battling when the easiest thing they can do is quit. You saw Maxx Crosby on Sunday talk about, we are playing for pride. And I think that is because I am one of the loudest voices beating the drum, that this is not a rebuild, it is a reload. And I think that one of the things that tell you that, is you have talent"

"I think the good is the attitude of the team. I think you got a lot of rookies. I mean, Brock Bowers is playing like an all-pro. DJ Glaze is playing tremendously well. JPJ, Decamerion Richardson playing well. You are going to get probably Dylan Laube this weekend. Tommy Eichenberg is doing some things. Rookies are rookies ... There are a lot of good things going on. There are a lot of guys playing, you know, at a good level."

Except in preseason there are signs of hope ;)

When the writing was on the wall mid October, I decided to put the Raiders on the back burner and take back my Sundays. Today, I decided against my better judgment to watch the game. A few observations after not watching for a few weeks….
Minshew is just a terrible QB, period.
5 takeaways and a -15 TO margin all season is atrocious and the main reason this team sucks.
I don’t recognize anyone in the secondary besides Moerihg and Jones. Injuries certainly have taken their toll.
Maxx is still Maxx but he’s not enough to over compensate for the pathetic offense.
Who’s this Tyree Wilson guy making plays???
Overall this team is still hard to watch and disappointing, depressing and a laughing stock of the NFL. Nothing left to do but to lose out and fire AP and shoot for a hard reset (again) this time with a rookie QB in their sights. But I’m sure they’ll Raider that up too.

Bad QB play and a bad OC is had to overcome. The defense has been killed with injuries this year. The good news is it looks like we are in good position to get a QB (before today's games we were 3rd overall not sure if anything changes that) and we have a young team. Bring in a good OC and QB and we can win some games.

They were fifth behind Tennessee and Cleveland coming into this week. They are third now behind.the Jaguars and Giants ATM.

Gonna take a lot of lack of effort to pass those two.

Jags going to move on from Lawrence? I think the Giants is the only concern unless they trade away to move down... which is possible but if we like someone, I can see us making that move up.
