Tyler Lockett before the Eagles or Cowboys grab him please

I am not disaapointed in missing out on Diggs. For both him and Cooper, I am less than enthusiastic about bringing them on board when they have bounced around different organizations that essentially showed they were not wanted there any longer. There are reasons for that.

Lockett makes sense for more so the relationship connections to Carroll and Smith but he is a bit up there in age but more importantly has shown a steady decline in production.

I believe Keenan Allen is done. I have no interest in him.

That all being said, we do need to add a veteran to their WR group and Cooper or Lockett would be the best two options. I think Cooper has more in him and closer to being a top WR but is potentially a locker room problem and may not have interest in coming back to the Raiders. Lockett would add more to the locker room but is a far cry from being a #1 at this point in his career.

The point is, I don't think any particular WR is a must target at this point but we do need to add someone.

Your point is very well-taken, but I think they go Jeanty. You can't go into a season with Zamir White, Sincere McCormick, Raheem Mostert, and Dylan Laube as your running back room on a Pete Carroll-coached team. Mostert is the best of those and I think he'll be thirty-three.

Well, maybe you can take a guy later on in the draft to compete with those guys, I guess, but do you really think Carroll is going to abide that without protestation? I was going to say something about Brady, but he functioned without a good RB room for years. Aside from Corey Dillon, NE totally skimped at RB.

There was a ton of talk in here, by people more knowledgeable than I about such things, that Luke Getsy really did Zamir a disservice switching to a zone blocking scheme. Apparently Zamir can excel in a power blocking scheme (or maybe it's the other way around) if the last four games in 2023 are any indication.

He probably isn't a game changer but with a good scheme and competent QB play he can probably manage the position and he has some upside.

I believe strongly that the wide zone scheme change was horrible for both the line and Zeus. The gap/zone mix of McDoofus was clearly a better fit for both him and the line and we saw definite flashes, however, not enough for me to feel comfortable that that is the only reason for his implosion. I still think if Jeanty is a legit elite RB then we can't pass him up and at 6 if he is there unless we get a huge package offered to us to move down.

Agreed except we need more than one WR. We have Meyers and Tucker now. Granted, having Bowers is kind of a cheat code that helps but we are woefully thin at WR right now. (It also makes me confused on why we reportedly shoped Mayer considering if we are that thin at WR why not keep two good TE's and go 12 personnel a lot?).

I like Lockett as an addition, not a solution.

A vet WR will be added since the WR room is so thin but it should just be considered a body and nothing to get excited about. It doesn’t even matter which one is added since they will be gone after this season and won’t be expected to contribute much.

A case for Amari Cooper...

I'm not a huge fan, mostly because he's been overrated almost his whole career, the first part of which he spent milking the Raiders until Chuck II came to town. BUT,

Once you get past the Amari's not a top-10 alpha NFL WR1, you find he is - when healthy(ish) - a top 10-15, at worst 20, NFL WR1 (on a PPG basis) - when healthy, i.e. he gotta stay healthy - and why you commit only 12 mos at a time.

How much to get those 12 mos and maybe a couple more entering age 31 season?
$10 MM guaranteed for one year with incentives to 15-20? I'd sign him for 10+ incentives, while the team seeks a long-term WR1 in drafts... Like the current Geno deal but for WR.

Yup, I mean what's the downside? Not like you go into this expecting anything great and maybe he surprises and does well.

Man, I liked Renfrow when he came out of college and then when he broke out a little I really wanted to acquire him in dynasty. I was ready to send offers, etc., and then the next year he just fizzled. Like something happened to him mentally more than physically. And then he got lost in the shuffle somehow, which is more an indictment of how the Raiders were run than it is of him. At least IIRC.

I wish him the best in his comeback endeavor. I always thought he was going to be the next excellent small slot receiver who was a route-running technician and left DBs in the dust off of the line. Good luck to him. He's likely going to need it. Tough to walk away from this game and come back, but if anybody can, it's a guy like him at the position he plays.

I've seen a few people say Shedeur's best NFL comp is Geno Smiff. Thinking plan A may be to Sanders should he fall to 6 and let him compete with and learn from Geno for a year or two.

Agreed. This is the type of swing you want to see them make. Guys who have demonstrated ability and are still young enough to have upside.

FWIW Stefon Diggs's deal with the Patriots is essentially a one year $19 mil deal that is heavily incentive laden. It isn't really 3 years, $69 mil.

If he'd take something similar I think Amari would be a fine addition.

Maybe. Likely even. But there are lots of indications that his issues were mental and about passion (very likely related to that nasty concussion). He may not have "gotten a sniff" but do we know if he was actually looking? The word "semi-retired" has been bandied about a lot lately.

If a team signed like a Tebow or a Kapernick several years ago there would have been media descending on the team and every other question would have been about them. That's a distraction.

No offense, sincerely, but I laugh when I see statements like "minimum salary...no guaranteed money...etc". Same with the "they should just trade back...." stuff. It's wishful thinking IMO.

None of these guys are going to command long term, cap breaking deals and, at this point, there are no big names that the Raiders are going to miss out on if they pay these guys a few bucks.

Geno is the only player of note they need to pay and they have plenty of cap space.

So go get some bodies, there are potentially a few gems still out there, I would hate to miss out on them because the Raiders made low-ball offers.

I have been stumping for Lockett as well but mostly as a locker room guy. He's 32 and has declined three consecutive years. Maybe that's because of JSN last year but not the two years prior. And the fact that the Raiders haven't even brought him in for a visit with Pete and Geno already on board is a bit concerning. Still, I would be happy to have him on the team.

Again, I picked 3 random dudes that are just that, random dudes. But I’d rather have any of the 3 over Renfrow. Renfrow hasn’t done much of anything in what, 4 years? Waller is the same. Has 1.5 awesome seasons. Then something happened. Cooked. Renfrow is done. IMHO.

He hasn't even been signed. Why not bring him in like they did and kick the tires. If he looks promising enough then sign him and see how he does in camp. If not, then don't. I have no idea why this is a distraction.
